idk if that was a bug, but i was in the same situation that u. im gonna tell u the same that a friend told me DONT DO ANYTHING. Yup i know, it sounds weird but i have this quest already complete. Just sit and ejoy the battle is all i had to do and now is complete. Try, anyway, u have nothind to loose xD. *Hugs* xD

i had the same problem with ToP (Tree of Protection) but i fix it just forgeting and learning again the genie skill.
