Yea that's right....if you hit anything in there (either the invisible thing or the Orcs running around) the boss won't appear and that's the end of your run. I learned it the hard wayb:surrender

it's not that the buff disappears just like 'poof'...it's 'just' that you can't overbuff it. so if a level 20 person buffs you with level 1 Magic Shell and you use your level 10 buff after it won't work. you gotta wait 30 mins till the buff is over and then use yours. it's really really annoying....hope they'll fix it soon…

There IS a time limit for this quest (30mins for both quests) and its displayed on the main quest (not the subquest which tells you to kill the mobs) You weren't fast enough to complete the quest so it failed. sorry =(
