tell us when you found a solution, i really wanna know too.

usually i leave faction, quit squad, ignore or blacklist them.

but when people start flaming the worldchat with insults from all their alts, while pwi just sit there and watch it, the day is getting really bad.

    THIS ÌS HARSHLAND :

    -re snip-

I think its very sad, that people have to report thos to get them banned.
Gamers acutally do the work of the company, and they still pay for them lol.

On a serious note, it depends on what you define as "normal" and "weird". If you mean the stalker kind who want to get your irl contact info or harass you....or the over offensive ones in WC, then the best option is to not squad with 'em and black list....or send it a ticket maybe.

Wow and I thought RT had a lot of idiots in WC. It looks like HL is the breeding ground for morons.

As for avoiding weird people, don't play F2P MMOs. They tend to attract a lot of undesirable people. Subscription based MMOs in my opinion, always had a much better community because they had a more vested interest. Granted, there were a few bad seeds here and there, but nothing like the juvenile mentality of a number of PWI players (ironically there are a few cash shoppers that can be included in the idiot hall of fame)

Agreed, I made the same experience. Those companies also tend to take abusive behaviour a lot more serious, so bad seeds won't last long.

Blocking all of their alts is really the only way.. or logging off for awhile, as they will get the message "User is offline".

I play on the fringe of the game (on PW and on another game).

This basically means, I often stay guildless, solo 99.99% of the time and am exceptionally careful about who I assist or give things to.

It's tough you know. I've made good friends with people (in both games) that turned out to be hackers, cheaters, botters, con-artists, skeezy people, and etc.

And they never seem this way - in the beginning.

So my recommendation is to just take things slow with friendships, and find out more about the person.

Then simply keep control of the situation by saying "Sure, I'd like to assist you but I'm a bit broke or a bit busy and gently interrupt them and bid them well".

Use ignore tactics, and other things called "distancing" and honestly if they don't get the general idea after a bit > block them.

I found being nice .. really mucks things up for you and can set you into a tailspin which ends up ... just making you look bad to everyone else.

So don't wait for them to bug on you so much you POP! Just ... slowly wean them off you..

Also - if you are predictable - change your daily workflow - don't go afk in the same place, take them off your Friends List and etc.

You owe it to no one to make excuses on why you took them off your FL. You owe it to no one to tell them that the friendship is not working...

But you do owe it to yourself - to have a good gaming experience and avoid .... people like this.

Isn't it just a sign of a good, caring friend if someone knows from day one started playing to all the names and classes of someone as well as their irl-birth date, bloodtype and what they ate today?b:sad

I usually don't try to avoid weird people after meeting them, some people just need to let loose and relax/life a little. I'm usually OK with weird people, it's when I feel like someone doesn't care for other people or disrespects them that I try to avoid them or simply block them.

Oh here's something funny, how many times have you guys looked at your Blacklist and read the names thinking to yourself, "I don't even remember half of these people" lol I unblock those people... Whatever it was, must not had been that bad. b:kiss

Kitty thinks there's much people like this on RT. Though they won't probably take those names off their BL. Kitty's mains' names, that is.b:cute

Avoiding 'weird people' isn't rocket science. Apply the same common sense you do in real life and you should be fine.
    For example, it is a good idea to be wary of someone who exhibits too much of the following;

Being too close and too personal right from the start, not respecting your boundaries and privacy, asking intimate questions they should not. Even after you ask them to stop. Especially watch out if they are trying to guilt you, blaming you for being unfriendly for not sharing.
Normal people understand that time is necessary to get to know someone, and most of all they respect your limits.

If they try to isolate you from other in-game friends, so that you only exclusively spend time with them and nobody else. Subsequently, if they whisper you all the damn time from when you log in to when you log off... Only talking to you in private and never in a guild/squad setting, if they seem antisocial to others... Everybody has friends they talk personal stuff with in private, but when someone demands that from you from day one, watch out.
Again, normal people have other things to do just like you, the silence gaps in conversations are normal.

Pay attention to how they talk about others. If they only have mean things to say about everybody, including their past friends and such, chances are they are shady. Once you stop fitting the bill of what they look for, you will be badmouthed about just the same.

Many other such things really, but I'm sure mostly everybody knows them already. If not, inform yourself.
You don't have to be a detective or be on your guard all the time, but just use common sense. That's enough to screen most of the 'weirdos' out who will give you a hard time while playing.

Remember, if they don't treat you nicely, it doesn't mean you don't deserve it. It means you have to back away and move on.
"There are two things you cannot always reason with in this world - your own mind and the minds of other people. But you can try."

Would be much easier to blacklist Kitty's complete faction just because a red-text is used in this forum. Nah, don't have any of Kitty's main's names in my blacklist. To avoid Kitty I put my notebook into my microwave for a few seconds. To avoid others I'll move to another server for at least half an hour.

Logging out is a good point... Maybe OP had the idea that one would be stuck in a squad with weird people and one did not want to leave because they need the quest?

i.e. culti.... Oh hey! Thanks guys for joining my squad I really needed the help, maybe we can make this fast.

    Le four minutes later ~

*Omg omg omg these people are so dumb and weird, they make no sense at all*

Q.Q I'm a weird person, but not in a stalker/freaky/"whoa, you're taking it too far" way. I'm sure the majority, if not all of us, have met that one person who "takes it too far" and disturbs you. Like the others have already said before my post, just ignore the strange things these creepy type of people say, keep to yourself, log off for a while and hope they don't harrass you when you get back on, or maybe get on another alt or something. It would be nice if people got the hint to leave you the freak alone, but some just don't because they like causing trouble. I'm just pretty much saying this from experience; yes I've met weirder people than me who bug a lot of folks. You can't make people leave you alone, but you can avoid them. I know some are obsessed and will continue harrassing you on multiple days. Hopefully reporting them helps. If not, I guess avoiding and ignoring will be your best bet. Maybe their character will have an unfortunate(or fortunate, if you're the victim) accident that causes them to fall into a black hole and get lost forever o.o...

    This looks like a NECRO!

Any thread over one month (30 days) old is considered to be a dead thread and you're not supposed to post in them. The person you are replying to probably doesn't care any more or can no longer be found on the forums. The topic itself could be out of date. Next time just make a new thread.

Let's see how long it takes for a mod to close this :)
