Wiki Maintenance (Complete) 3/27/14

Hi everyone,

We will be conducting maintenance on the Wiki starting today, March 14th, around 5PM PDT. Maintenance is expected to last for around 1 week (give or take) & access to and editing of the Wiki will be unavailable during this time. The extended maintenance timeframe is due to an infrastructure update.

We definitely recognize that the Wiki is an important tool for many of our players and we will work as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Update: We apologize that this maintenance is taking longer than expected. We're working as fast as we can and hope to have it up by next week. Thank you for your patience.

    Sparks, can I make a suggestion to this one.

    Cant we have a backup copy temp put up? A week is a long time and i know lots of people use this?

    Better to test new wiki site on some local server and then update it during few hours (even less to copy files).

    so you give 4 hours notice for people to copy paste info theyll need for the wiki (because lets face it the website provided info is very poor and now due to arc links/pages dont even work...) that will be down for a week...a WEEK? it seriously takes you a WEEK to transfer files to new hardware? cant keep a non editable site running meanwhile?

    i nearly fell over laughing reading this, this would be beyond embarrassing if pwe as a company had any self respect

    Never, and I can not stress enough, NEVER has a single one of my billions ( hyperbole) of google searches EVER landed me at PWI's wiki so all I can say is

    @People who are like "We have a wiki!??!" It's quite easy to find and has been around for years... It's also quite useful. I discovered it within the first week of me playing PWI, it's not really hidden or hard to find tbh. ._.

    Kinda figured you guys would be doing something about the Wiki soon since all your links on Arc site for info on the game lead to the Wiki anyway.

    The wiki has a lot of useful info. I think even Asterelle has based his calculators on the information available there.

    So much useful, even crucial info there...

    Seriously, 4 hours notice? That really is not good enough, you must have been aware this work was impending/planned for some time, surely a weeks notice would have been possible.

    Many players will be inconvenienced by this, tsk tsk pwe, when will you get your PR department to do its job properly?

    Here's to hoping they actually update it this time, and don't disable it with the promise they'll be 'improviing' it and moving it to the Arc. Kind of like they did with achievement points, then DQ points. (Which may or may not actually happen before the end of the century....)

    And I apologize if this remark sounded like it was trolling. I've just become really skeptical about the credibility of announcements like this after more broken promises from the devs.

    Oh i see now, i was wondering about this, was getting irritated when it kept Redirecting me towards Arc. Which is basically useless.

    Yay.. I refer to this often. To anyone that has never seen this... is you just search for PWI it comes up.. not really sure how you missed it. It's the first site i went to after the main one. Slightly less obvious is pwdatabase.....also a great and highly useful sight for crafting.

    Unfortunately Yes. Posted that on the front page, but figured it might not be visible to all, so I posted it here as well.

    Please stop fixing what is not broken. Knowing PWI it will be broken AFTER updater, when it wasn't BEFORE. And as others said, was it that hard to test the site elsewhere and then just transfer data in 4 hours or so..

    Curious, what is actually being changed on wiki?
    Also if an Arc Integration, then what does this 'integration' consist of?

    Sparkie are you guys merging all the Wiki Sites in ARC? and after this maintenance all those pages can be accessed through only & only ARC ?

    Becoz now when i google search for any wiki page of PWI like Cube of Fate etc i don't see the link anymore i guess it's removed then ?

    PWE test? No, they used interns with barely any basic html skills to code all their pages.

    Integration is the wrong term. What they will be doing is breaking all links and logical structure the wiki had. See next quote for examples of this.
