Arc can suck the big one, honestly. The fact that your company has failed to address any player concerns over why this isn't optional, but now mandatory or GTFO, is pretty damn silly.

1.) It doesn't matter if it hogs 1GB of space at the minimum and/or 100MB of RAM or less at the minimum. It's another piece of proprietary garbage DRM, designed by the same people behind the infamous "Core Client" beta PoS.

2.) If the software is downloading directly from Perfect World Entertainment's servers, then why are the players being forced to download this application in order to get a direct download of the game?

3.) What sort of advantages are we exactly getting by downloading and installing a rip-off Steam for PWE's game collection? It provides no extra benefit. Auto-login? Lol, that's a joke. Super special prizes? Highly, highly, highly doubt it. When was the last time PWE gave out a single "good reward" or "thoughtful in-game goodie", that wasn't designed for sucking my wallet dry or a worthless item?

Lastly, stop ignoring your player base PWE. You've lost a lot of people already, and by making this DRM mandatory, you will surely loose many more people. If that's your plan, shut the servers down now to save us some free time we could have used for a better company's game.

To force your loyal player base to use such a program and it not interface with the already downloaded game that currently exists on everyone's computer is bullshyte to say the least.

Don't forget those that have gone to great lengths to get the game downloaded in the first place, some of us are in remote area's and don't have the capacity to have the game downloaded just because some bean counter without any knowledge of the working planet thinks this ARC app is brilliant.

Wake up ffs before your damn game goes to the **** heap and has no player base.

For those of us who refuse to touch another game by you and spend alot of money (look my account up) that dont want to be forced into arc yet according to the faq this will happen. if this is the only game I play then arc is not an improvement.

If forced on us im afraid my alternative is to bail on what i feel was an investment. which now seems like a poor one. are you going to address that or is it more tough cookies.

How does it improve account security. I purposely make diff passwords and logins for different programs even for the same company. single sign on allows a person to be way more mischievous if they compromise you, I'm glad your making it even easier.

As far as awards seeing as what has been there before and other things u send i dont really see that is worth it. At all. paltry items for what alot of us dont need. Want to make more money try listening to the population not your marketeers.

Well, since you never allow comments on news posts anymore, I really hope you guys will answer our questions here. I'm not sure if I will leave or not when Arc becomes mandatory; it will depend on how messed up it is. But I have a couple of current concerns that I would like answers for.

    1. Is this stupid auto-login feature able to be turned off? Most of us play more than one account so we don't necessarily want to be logged in to the same one every time.

    2. Will we be able to multiclient? I know you can currently but I have a feeling some things might change. Will we still be able to just open it via the .exe like we can now?

    3. I have an older laptop that for some reason has issues patching from the launcher (it freezes partway every time and never completes). Because of this I always use manual patches for it, since it downloads those just fine. Will this be an issue with Arc and if so, what do we do if we can't get manual patches?

I'll start with just those questions since I assume it will take a long time to get a response.

i actually use ARC so i can answer at least 2 of your questions
1 i havent found a way to do it yet. however it doesnt auto log a char so u can press the EXIT button and then log onto ur other account.
2 yes u can atm but u have to use the .exe file. ive been using arc for a while and it hasnt changed so i doubt they will change it.

OK a few of my own questions
1 how mny of those who complain about arc actually use it? i use ARC and i LOVE it. it not only loads ur game but also u can browse the forums, check core connect(not very useful but it comes in handy sometimes) as well as chat to ppl who are on ARC u have friended(cant use feature cuz noone sides me uses ARC)

2 Why havent you tried it? Alot of you are giving up without even trying it. thats like saying u dont like a food and not even tasting it. For all u know u could love it but u wont let urself try it.

3 Im sure i wrote this before but ARC downloads the game straight to itself. ive actually tried out 5 other PWE titles and each time while downloading them i experienced NO LAG. so my final question (to the devs) wat else can we expect from ARC? im loving the program and am interested in wat else ur gunna put into it.

TO bluestufzzz hope i got that right
    1 isnt a question merely a statement
2 already been answered (on page 21 or 20)
3 while i cant argue with the thoughtfull in game goodie thing seeing as they havent put any out yet. u can check forums talk to offline friends and MORE. USE ARC BEFORE U TALK **** ABOUT IT.

I think you missed the point most posters have tried to point out we have used game management software before and just have no use for its additional functionality.

And as to your example: Why are we being forced to eat a whole meal, when we know we only want an apple?
I am not a kid and PWI is not my mommy. b:chuckle

@ Viktorian - I really don't want any additional unnecessary programs running in the background when I play the game. I could, however, overlook all this if ARC actually worked better.

By better I mean all those little annoying things (eg. auto-log in, I personally hate it). It's one thing to get unpleasant content or get bugs (that you either go around or adapt) but it's a whole different story when you poke around with the way people log in, start the game, download the game etc.

I'm mostly open minded and learn to adapt so I'm not using the threat of leaving (unless I get really pissed off with ARC) but there's a lot of people guaranteed to leave if ARC becomes mandatory.

After reading the latest news update on ARC, I think changing the way Zen is purchased and put into games and servers is a poor idea.

I like the option of keeping Zen in my wallet and not transferring it until there are charge rewards, I also play on more than one server, and if i make a purchase of Zen large enough to get bonus zen, I often want to divide it between servers. I think you should provide an option to put Zen into your wallet instead of transferring all of it immediately.

I save my money to get bonus Zen on purchases, and I am less likely to buy Zen at all if I don't have the freedom to decide where it will go. And if i ever decide to play another game, I'd want the freedom to send some money to that game. The only way to make this option reasonable to me is if you provide bonus zen on every purchase of any amount.

I also have installed ARC, and stopped trying to access PW through it, because it will not recognize I already have the game downloaded. I do not want to wipe my current installation - I have a lot of saved ini edit files and screenshots that I do not want to lose. I also don't want to use the bandwidth and download GB after GB of game I already have - and anyone who has to update the client via hotspot does not want to waste data repeating something they have already done.

That's just BS cause you don't want to try.

just copy you ini file and screen shot in a safe place. When Arc reinstall the game the path change a little, but basically, the ini file and picture just go back in the same folders.

I can understand the download part. They need to implement a backup option like in steam. Maybe it'S gonna come soon.

I don't like Arc also, but I can tell you that I saw the same way back whit IMVU community. People were complaining a lot about how the compagnie were treating there people. Some issue were resolved on the side of the people, other not.

In the end, IMVU is still running. PWE will still be running to. The market strategy they have is the same has any big gaming compagnie. Just like Or***** and St*** and other more recent game. They all have managing client like Arc. Each compagnie will try to isolate there gammer in there circles of influence and keep them in there. Why not, they have to make money.

Do we have to love it... No, Does windows care that you don't like media player, No, Yet they still develop it, and impose many software. PWI is just doing what the big compagnie do.

Don't be mad at PWI be mad at the lack of laws to regulate this virtual world.

You could very easily go to the folder Arc sits in, create a folder called PW-en, and then move/copy your existing client files into. I'll have to look if there would be any editing required on the Arc config files, but I don't think so offhand. I'm at work, so I can't test that currently. Arc should automatically find it after it's restarted.

Thanks for advice on moving files.

b:sad However, I still don't want to re download it. I will try seeing if i can move PW client into Arc files- but need to do it at a time when I am not supposed to be in NW or TW I am confused Arc needs to have installation shifted- It managed to find an old copy of Jade Dynasty I haven't updated in 6 months- but not PWI which I play almost daily.

I think that's because JD's installation location hasn't moved much since it was released.
Depending on when you downloaded and installed PWI, it could be in one of 4 or 5 different locations.

I personally just do not see the need for this ARC system.

It has been covered over AND over again by the community.... fix the game before adding yet more unnecessary things to it.

A universal platform for PWI games serves only PWI.

Perhaps listen to you end users?

I installed Arc on my wife's laptop, which had PWI installed and working great a few months ago without Arc until my wife uninstalled it. Having Arc running in the background caused her laptop to lag enough that I had to deliberately crash the computer (yes, there is a keyboard shortcut to trigger a blue screen if you enter the right thing into the registry) to close it. The laptop is able to run most games very well, but it just didn't seem to like Arc very much.

PWI works just fine on my computer, so serious lag isn't a problem for me (yet). The thing I hate most about the change is removing DQ rewards. I won't be able to earn enough to get the pet egg I want before the system is removed, so all the time and effort I put into DQ rewards will be wasted since I have no use for any of the cheaper prizes. Can't you do something to recognize what some users do to earn DQ points? Taking away a reward system without rewarding people for their hard work is just plain mean. b:angry

All they see is this: $$$

They. Don't. Care. They didn't care in 2009, or 2010, or 2011, or 2012, and they don't care in 2013. Before you start playing this game, look into the forums/community for advice on how the game publisher runs it's titles.

The thing that really puzzles me is why PWE is so dead set on a path to self destruction. The whole game can only run by people putting real life cash into it, and yet they seem determined to annoy their paying customers. PWE needs them more than they need PWE.

Put it like this ..... if you had two shops in your local area selling similar products and one of the shops frequently sold products that didnt work properly, and had a customer service department that really didnt seem at all interested in getting you a product that worked, where would you want to spend your money?

Past experience has taught us that with every big change in the game there come a lot of often annoying bugs, many of which take a lot of time to fix, if indeed they ever are (and yes, i am aware of the reason .. it's like playing chinese whispers at a party).

People are going to be far more willing to put money into a game that actually works and does what it says on the tin, instead of dreading the next swathe of bugs/crashes from a future update when the previous ones still havent been fixed.

Why people think PWE will change anything, It's just like Facebook **** or YouTube and G+ Merging, ******** about it will only make them laugh. copy patcher.exe to Desktop erase Arc shorcuts. You can even make copy of whole Perfect World folder and let Arch delete the original one along with itself when you unistall it. Put the copy back into Program files, Profit. Yet is works I use it.

Is it going to be posable to continue to Dual Box With arc? if not i fear alot of long term players who dont have multiple Comps are going to leave and reduce your player base even more. i for one dont have Multiple Comps to log into and it gives people with multiple comps an unfair advantage if they can sell and play at the same time when others have to decide if they want to sell today or play.

Same way you did before Arc.
Open one client using elementclient.exe, and after it's open, you open the second client.

    There's your answer.
Next time, don't yell, and search before you post. I've only said this about 20 times already.

    Then you're doing something wrong.

You have to wait until the first client is actually open before you open the second one. If only the patcher is up from the first instance, it will never work. (unless you change the shortcut for elementclient.exe, but I don't give that method out because then people complain that they can't update the client.)

Bottom line - I hate Arc - the browser doesnt work from within it - wont use it - i play many pw games as i feel the urge - i prefer to log in myself and pwi can go fly a kite ( with Arc )
I hated core connect its nosy invasive and you have to set it to make private when it should be automatic. PWI isnt fb and should stick to fixing the comprehensive issues with their games and stop stealing bits from less good games -Q)why dont EG and TB have the same customisations as the older classes? A) PWI are cheap Why do we now have similar botting to Jade Dynasty? Soon all these games will merge in to a generic nastiness and we wont be able to tell one from another.

Ive played PW since open beta started on H/T and all i can say is though I love the game I watched it steadily go downhill, which makes me sad. Also I chose to play a pve server so quests which require you to be in pk have no place here.
