Take back the new veno skill D:!

So, everyone was really excited about getting their new class skills, I race in to get mine, and it shows that its similar to our fire scarab and ironwood. Naturally i'm excited, even though it could potentially combine. I didn't realize how bad it was...
1) Now I only have 2 skills that do not use chi aside from a slow cooldown AOE attack. Even as a sage veno thats costly.
2) The cooldowns are all screwed up, cooldowns take so much longer, forcing me to use my weakest attack I used to hardly ever have to use.
3) The skill is flat out ugly looking. /:
Am I just whining too much or do others agree with me?
Can we at LEAST make it a little less of a cooldown?

Isn't the cooldown the same as what it used to be for ironwood (8 seconds)?0
-
Should be, but lucky's is longer (12 seconds); I knew the new skill would mess up my macros, possibly making it impossible to set up a macro that would work indefinitely, when I saw/translated the skill description.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I dont need my macros to be able to go on infinite amount of time. Mostly I only use my macros when multiclienting, but I'm never gone from my venos screen more than few seconds, so I'll be back on her before the macro stops.
As a sage veno as well, I was surprised to see a lot of sage venos excited about this skill. I really liked Blazing Scarab, however, I still decided to get it because Ironwood is one of my absolutly favorite attack skills, and I was thinking adding a bit more power to it wouldn't hurt.
I'm not really sure what I think of it honestly. It doesnt really impress me as much as I believe it should at the cost of loosing Blazing Scarab.0 -

Is the damage increase (along with the DoT) noticeable? Also is the cooldown really messed up?
I'm worried they messed up with the Demon one big time. I wanted it for the damage increase but I don't want to essentially nerf my debuff (if my suspicions are right). I want to know what I'm "missing" out on.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

Honestly I didnt pay too much attention yet when using it, plus I didnt got much time to test it as I wasnt in hurry to get it (was questing around, completed all quests now wish there was more quests!!) the damage seemed nice so far i guess, and I think that the fire dot last shorter time now as well..
I dont think I would get it as demon
The damage is higher than old ironwood (not that much though) but I'm a little uncertain about how the dot works0 -

Blazing is good when you want to fill a quick gap while you're in human and you're unable/don't want to get into fox for whatever reason. I really don't use it as much for chi generation as I do on a demon, though.(Insert fancy image here)0 -

Well, if you are talking about blazing scarab's use for lowbies, then fear not because the merge can only happen once you reincarnate, which in turn needs level 100 -.-0 -

For me, even as a sage veno with the new fox form transformation, it still bugs me I cant have a long continuous chi building macros. I give out a spark to a cleric/bm any chance I get in warsong/FF/whatever, and now I cant build chi as much while knocking down a boss. It is a noticeable difference for me.0 -
Playing around more yesterday using a lot of redstone (the new ironwood) I actually turned out to like it more... First I felt it quite ****, mostly because the animation doesnt look like our other skills at all.. Now I started to like it a bit more, it looks like you shoot a little red missile when using it.. The damage from redstone is not much higher than old ironwood, however the DoT damage seems way stronger (600% + 6000 dmg something) the DoT lasts as long redstone is still in cooldown, or maybe 0.5-1 seconds longer. The cooldown/chan/cast remain the same from the old ironwood. Actually I dont think this was a too bad idea, but I still doubt it would be worth it for demon venos to loose their 0 def and blazing for chi.
Other than that I noticed my macros didnt interrup! A boss did interrup me once, but without clicking anything, my venomancer started channelling a new skill already. So this might make macros easier to do now! ^^
EDIT: Checking on ecatomb it seems demon blazing scarab have a reduced duration of the DoT to 9 seconds where sage have 12 seconds. With a cooldown of 8 seconds of redstone, it seems we sages get that reduced duration as well for the DoT (9 seconds) just like demons O:
Plus I meant my macros was ongoing besides some skills was still in cooldown, I think the macro just automatically skip the skills in cooldown.0 -
Yeah. For sages this is an upgrade hands down.
For demons... not so much.(Insert fancy image here)0 -
Yeah. For sages this is an upgrade hands down.
For demons... not so much.
I disagree o.O
I think its an upgrade for both by far.
Demon Veno can now keep constant pdef debuff + amp on target. Skill is relatively spammable with 25% proc rate on the 180% debuff.
My damage sky rockets in both pve and pvp w/ my wife spamming this skill + amp now.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
After having the skill for a while, and using it a lot, I like it. The dot is stronger, damage improved slightly, not really noticeable though.
The dot is still weak, but way stronger than sage blazing scarab. My sage blazing scarab did about 1-2k on mobs, redstone about 5-6k. Once I refine my gear and finish my g16 it'll probably be stronger.
I really don't miss blazing scarab, only thing I miss is the cast time on it. 1.5 sec chan on redstone is pretty annoying, getting used to it though.
But I only ever used it while waiting for cds and stuff, not for the damage.
Might want to add that I'm sage, and never used blazing scarab for chi.
So yeah, for any sage venos that are still trying to decide if they should upgrade, I'd say go for it. It's a nice skill.0 -
I'd been debating about if I really wanted to lose a skill, but after reading this... I'll go for it. Since the only pvp I do is NW... This is still an upgrade for me as a sage veno.If you bite some one, they get mad and smack you.
But if you lick them, you still get the flavor.
And they think you're weird.0 -

It's a downgrade when you consider the 40% / 180% share an icon. For demon venos used to using arcane antinomy when the 0def procced, this is fairy annoying. Whats a BM doing in the venomancer subforum, anyway?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Meh it's the kind of thing that you have to choose to upgrade or leave as is depending on what you do in PvE and PvP but I'm happy at least Demons didn't get completely screwed over like last time (Fox Form update).
I learnt it and I love it in PvE. I haven't done any PvP whatsoever so I don't know how it will be but considering I have very limited time (probably until summer) and I'll probably mostly just do TWs (aka group PvP) I decided to learn it.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

No, you are looking at this from entirely the wrong angle.
*I'm* used to KNOWING when I have the 0 defense buff on me. When I see the debuff I know to purify, use an immunity, whatever.
Now, neither of us knows. You use arcane antimony, and each time I have to freak out---is it 180%? If it is, I'm dead. If its *ONLY* 40%, you might just still kill me, though ofc chances are lower, but I cannot take the risk. The gain is all on your end. Its worse for me to not know, because I have to burn through my immunities much faster on the chance that it might be the 180%. Do I really want to find out which debuff I have by getting hit with a crit arcane antimony? Um, no I don't!
New version much scarier than old version imo.YOUTUBE CHANNEL:

Aye, that's true. Confusion all around! I'd be more inclined to use arcane antinomy on a Myriad pdef break - sure, it's only 100%, but thats better than it perhaps being 40%. But, also worse than potentially missing out on 180%. f:shock Ugh.. it'd be nice if devs gave them different icons.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Okay. After playing with Sage Redstone Venomworm... I'm not happy. I'd rather have my Ironwood & Blazing. Why?
1. Cooldown. Sure, it's the same as Ironwood was, but it doesn't mesh with my other skills as well.
2. It hits hard, but not worth losing my secondary hard hitting skill
My normal chain of attacks is Ironwood, Venom, Blazing/Lucky, Venom, Lucky/Blazing. Or if I'm going against weaker things that still take 2 hits, Ironwood+Venom, or Blazing+Venom. That way I was alternating the two stronger hitting skills and could go faster.
This skill takes out one of my single target attacks. While the new skill is stronger than either of the two were alone, it's still a loss to me. *sigh*If you bite some one, they get mad and smack you.
But if you lick them, you still get the flavor.

I've kinda gotten used to not having Blazing Scarab now but that doesn't mean I don't miss it. I'm still iffy for the fact that they didn't do Ironwood+Frost or Blazing+Frost instead. Frost is something people rarely used so it would make sense. Blazing was and is widely used by players though.
However, what's done is done. I still think Sages should generally upgrade regardless though (not taking into account individual playstyles). As Sage I never felt the need to use Blazing Scarab in either PvE or PvP (though throwing it on pets is not a bad idea). I was quite dependent on it as Demon but strangely enough, I never really used it in PvP for chi.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

Blazing + Frost would be an interesting combination, though I probably use Frost as much in PVP as I use Blazing in PVE. As demon, the 3 second freeze is quite useful to have, especially since Lucky isn't a guaranteed 100% stun. [95%, close I know, but it has failed on some important occasions]. However, I never use frost in PVE, or blazing in PVP. Would have been interesting to see how the devs would have combined these two to favour both PVE/PVE when each has imo, their own distinct uses.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
