As a 99% pve archer, who plans on going sage (I find pvp boring, get over it), are there any skills I don't need to level past 1, or get even level 1 of. It's been over a year since I played last, I think.

I recommend you look @ Annor's Archer Guide :3 It'll tell you all you need to know.

That guide is a little out of date.

A few things I'd correct is max your Quickshot. Sage Quickshot gives you a 20% crit increase for 10 seconds. It only has a 3 second cooldown so you can constantly keep yourself buffed. Since you are mainly focusing on PvE (I'm the same), level you metal skills (except Stormrage) and Frost arrow. These are very useful in instances that have physical resistant mobs.

I know you said you are mainly a PvE player, but if you plan on doing NW learn Elven Alacrity. If you are an archer in NW everyone and their brother is going to be asking you for a push and they get cranky if you tell them you don't have the skill. I've seen archers booted out of squads just for that reason.

Wouldn't frost arrow be good to level then? For the phys resist ones, as sage converts it to water damage.

Sage frost arrow doesn't hit too hard. Look at it; it doesn't even have +%wep damage. That and the chi cost make people **** on sage frost arrow. I use mine though because it crit 7.5K on an unmarrowed BM in aps gear in TW and that was with a G15 + 5 bow.

Against decently geared heavies it's absolutely no damage at all. Stick to autoattacks to try purging or metal skills. At least you have a metal debuff.

It also doesn't have metal skills' bonus of not having dmg reduction at close range.

The following skills you don't need:
    DoT arrows-lv.1
    Deadly Shot-lv1
    Stormrage Eagaleon-lv.0; don't even learn dat ****
WoP lv. 1 if you're cheap like I.
Winged shell lv.5 p. much does the job of absorbing 1 hit.

    >>>>>

    PVE? Go demon

In PVE there are exactly 2 things you need: single target autoattack and barrage.

Demon QS = 46% dps boost

Sage QS = 16% dps boost

Demon spark = sage take aims at the speed of usain bolt, as Annor said,

Regular aps setup with -int G16 slingshot (100% chance tohave 2 sockets btw) = 1.54 APS = ~100K+ dps, putting you into the damage range of low-refined aps toons

Demon with claws = better gear due to demon spark. Sage spark gets overwritten by BB anyways so GG.

Demon BoA: anything else needs to be said?

For your occasional NW or TW your job is still to kill robes so, demon QS gg. Sage elemental skills will still not put you on par with actual robes at killing heavies.

Stop trying to force people to go demon. He said he wanted to go sage and was asking for advice on what skills he should level for sage path. So stick to that topic.

For going sage the skills you want to learn are:
Bow Mastery and Winged Blessing (Mastery's always level first)
    Blazing Arrow
    Quickshot
    Stunning Arrow
    Frost Arrow
    Metal Skills (except Stormrage)
    Sharpened Tooth Arrow
    Elven Alacrity
Take Aim or Deadly shot. It's good to have 1 heavy hitting skill for when you are solo farming then you can one shot mobs. Saves time and arrows.

All the other skills I'd learn, but for PvE it will be fine to keep them at a lower level if you are short on coin.
Personally I have all my sage skills learned just because I like having the variety of skills and they do hit a lot harder. Not going to lie, it was expensive to get all the books.

Laawwwdy, QS-auto 2shots most trash mobs for morai dailies anyways lol. G16 bow can kill 2 mobs in the time it takes to charge deadly shot, if both are in range. More if you got -int pve gear and a lot of them are in range. And Take Aim hits harder anyways. Both cultis, with a tiny cooldown. Makes Deadly even less useful

All the other skills I'd learn, but for PvE it will be fine to keep them at a lower level if you are short on coin.

Or save money for good **** like Awaken, BV, Whisper Shot. DoT arrows and winged shell are just so not worth it

replies in red. I'm sage, too, btw. I like the chi and the elemental skills since I don't go srs bznz fully squadded into NW and end up 1v1ing a lot.

Unnecessary skills for PvE are as follows: (Leave at lv 1 only to get next skill, don't need if doesn't unlock any other skill)

    Vicious Arrow
    Serrated Arrow
Stormrage Eagleon (Don't need at all)
    Knockback Arrow
Deadly Shot (worse than Take Aim)
    Whisper Shot
    Galvanic Aura
    Arrow Inferno

Actually if you won't PvP at all, don't even need to bother with Take Aim. Just leave at lv 1.

Whisper shot has some use for antistunned targets in PvP.

walpurga might be one of the biggest clows around here, but whisper shot is indeed pretty good. i use it a lot lately, usually to prevent barbs from invoking or to kill unaware bms that rely on their antistun :)

Whisper Shot is a piece of ****. 3s of seal, sub-par range, can miss, and I don't even think it interrupts.

Smack doesn't miss, casts faster, and has the same range for less chi.

Especially in TW, where wizards and venos have better seals in every way possible (cast range, channel time, duration, chi cost, can't miss), what's the point?

Archers have these skills that other classes can just do better without using spark, it's so sad. I guess it's the same deal with Aim Low...sucks but you use it when no one else has anything.

Farming morai skills with the 3 daily quests is so depressively slow it makes me sad. I dont even got 1 lv 100 morai skill yet
Im still in corona on 1600 infl hoping to get my leaps some day. And when I got those the whole struggle starts again from 0 to get stealth and before I got the other lv 100 morai skills PWI might already be down.
