Changing your character's name?

So, we have been told that can't be done since the game started.

Here, I present an item found in one of the moments where I am idly surfing and fondling my strap on **** (Grandfather is the very best at choosing xmas gifts).

    Note, though, that there is no mention of how to get one. That means it's just another artifact that is not currently implemented in our version of the game.

    A discarded idea? An item from the past the proved to be problematic? An item used on other servers? A proposed, expensive item, just waiting for the right moment for an unveiling in the boutique? Who knows? If they implement it, it would be cool, but ohhh the chaos! The private-detective-wanna-be types would spazz.

    If you want to be incognito, just use ink. All end-game gear looks the same anyway.

    erm no. g16 has random stats that could be used as id. ofc, that requires a certain degree of paranoia :b

    It's a recently added item, as item 37301 is some quest item for the new untamed quest string (barb I think; don't remember getting that item in the veno string) and item 37303 is the new sage enhanced foxform skill book. It's possible PWE doesn't even know of the item, and I don't think the Keeper of Names NPC has been added to Arch yet either. (Players with access to the Chinese servers could check to see if there's a new NPC there we don't have, probably named 角色改名.)

    I doubt they add it to our version of the game, considering how lazy the developers are

    That's not really fair. We don't know the constraints under which the developers labor.

    As a software engineer, myself, I know that there are often a lot of improvements left hanging out there because the developers don't get to decide the priorities.

    I hope it will never came in our version, if it does I will seriously consider to leave the game.

    People can now change the name on the gears, so if they can change their name that will be a scamming fest as well as drama.

    Also, remember when they improved the word filter and a ton of people's names got censored and they were unable to actually play the game because squadding and PMs and things wouldn't work for them? I imagine it being like this, except with people QQing about getting cash shop refunds because the name they changed to doesn't work right with the game for some reason.

    **** this, I wasnted Server transfer option for years now. Even if they have to transfer character manually wouldn't it be worth 10$ A character and do it once a Maintenance? Or they just like sitting down and count the cash.

    name changes can be done, a GM did it for me since one of my characters name was deemed "inappropriate" even though it was there for 2 years, and people got fed up with me and decided to ticket my char because of its name. Anywho, if your name was inappropriate, you get a 1 day ban and a ticket that says to give them 3 name options to choose from. If you do not give them the 3 options, they log in game and personally teleport you and talk to you about the name change. true story happened to me

    I think some people would love that but I can see a lot of things going wrong with this as well as this feature being abused in many ways so it would be better not to have this item ever be implemented.

    Trust me. You DO NOT want to be able to change your character's name. Mine was changed at my request on my Archer, and my original name shows up on faction list/faction chat/local chat sometimes. Makes it difficult to get squad invites, because invites to my original name don't work.

    I'm really not a fan of this. People who have played like a-holes for years shouldn't be able to absolve themselves of scamming or general a-holeness by buying an item. I do understand the desire to change a name, or for that matter gender (I used to play a female demon wizard, decided I didn't like looking at a girl's the whole time I played, and made a sage male who has a different name)

    However, I made no attempt to hide the old toon, and I'm still often referred to as Dragon in reference to her.

    With a name change, people could change their name, put new signatures on their gear, and get a makeover and effectively absolve themselves of anything they've done. Not a fan.

    My first reaction was oh, look this suggestion again. :P But now, this is actually pretty interesting. I believe the quote above is an example of the reason name change service stopped being offered, this type of error in the database was happening too frequently. Will be interesting if that gets resolved, although gotta say not a huge fan due to the aforementioned reasons.

    I remember I wanted to change my character's name badly, but I don't feel that way anymore. It actually means a certain time of day in a different language.

    I kind of like the many cute ways people call my character. "alsa" "alsi" "dora" "dorra" haha.

    GMs most likely do name changes manually and possibly forget to fully change the name in some part of the database and causes problems. I'd assume this would be an ingame feature that should fix the issue. Would just be a matter of releasing it in the cashshop and spawning the NPC.

    Hell no we don't need a name changer. we already have to many pathetic scammers in this game as it is.

    Although..at one point i wish i could of changed my name of my veno and cleric...i don't know cause people know me like this lol.
