Heard there were many large DDoS attacks lately. Can it have something to do with it?

He has no reason to help you he is NOT employed by PWI but he is giving his own time to help you idiots, respect that. PWI does not care about the lag none of the staff has replied to this thread, one guy is trying to help you are you guys are raging at him?

These are the same people that curse their vehicles for being a "piece of junk" when something minor happens, and because they have no knowledge of how it works, they go buy a new car to solve the problem. If they even had a basic understanding of how things worked, they could save themselves a lot of money and frustration.

One example of many I could give - I've seen a surprising number of oil drain plugs come out because the oil change place up the street only put them in hand-tight. I know this because it's easy enough to check an oil drain plug, when I find it missing, I ask the person "did you just have the oil changed?" Every time it's "yes..."

I'm an unbiased third party, most of the time I like to try to educate people, so I tell them their engine is locked up due to losing oil due to the drain plug falling out from only being hand-tight, and send them back to the oil change place b:laugh

Just glancing at his most recent posts, it seems Sylen knows exactly what he is talking about. People like this are kinda rare. Ah but I guess most people are too lazy to learn and would rather point fingers and yell and scream.

I heard about the DDoS attacks yesterday also.

I feel much better getting all this off my chest b:laugh

Now can someone answer my post about TW bidding please b:surrender

Please understand i dont have a problem, the servers do, ok?

lol... and with that attitude you want help from anyone or PWE staffs? If I were them I'd just ignore whatever words you say.

you refuse to give any info that would enable them to see what might be the problem and just bashing that it's PWE's fault with just "trust me, it's the server's fault. proof? I got DC! what? you want me to provide additional info to see what's the problem at? oh no need for that, just believe me, it's your guys fault."

the servers went down before this thread was started.

I just died from laughter. so you expect to see a thread(s) pops up here before the server went down? yeah, because we're all a psychic and can foretell what will happens in the future.

    imagine a thread like this:
"hey folks, damn, I wont be able to login in the next 10 minutes due to the server will be down. what happened here PWE??"

Holy haberdashery, Batman! That's one laggy connection!!

Ok, looking at this realistically, your first hop should be from your computer to your router/modem. In most cases, even wireless, this should be under 10ms. Your low end is 26, and your average is 139. Pretty much, looking at anything after that is utterly pointless. Given the IP address range, that looks like a large enterprise network.

If I had more information about your network, it's configuration, and how you're connected I might be able to help more.

But when did I say i have any problem? I don't have lag except when the entire servers do and finally crash. How is that my problem? Other than that I never lag?

I'm very curious about where you guys are connecting from, it's the second one I've seen with multiple private addresses nested in an enterprise network or vice versa. In this case we've got the standard 192.XXX address that is typical for a home network because of the limited address space. Then you have a 10.XX address which is typical with extremely large networks where you are connecting thousands of systems on the same network, then it goes back to two hops of a small private network. I can see this as something in, say, a college dorm, where you have the massive network going out to all the rooms, but then you've set up your own router in your room and are connecting to it. Even that explanation does not explain hops 3 and 4 though.

In any case, your main source of trouble is the trunk line from Saudi Arabia to Italy. Unfortunately, given my above stated analysis of your possible connection setup, there's not likely a whole lot you can do about it. You may get a better path to one of the European servers, but not if you still have to go through that trunk line.

That's low FPS, which isn't related to lag or your internet. Your CPU manages that end of things.

Ok, it must be something with how they run the networks out there. Unfortunately, it's not your ISP, it's just the path your traffic is taking. You can try turning your modem/router off for 5 minutes to see if it finds a better path. Unfortunately, given your location and the limited number of trunk lines servicing that area, you may not be able to. Hopefully the traffic will die down a bit on that section of the network and you'll get better speeds. In the end though, there likely isn't a whole lot you can do about it.

And I used to only on VERY rare occasion have a laggy connection in all the years playing PWI, now it's almost all the time since the last update.
But even when smooth and frame rates are good, ever since the last major update the game response to controls are horrible. I'll see mobs flying half way up the screen and then come back to where I'm at and the other day I couldn't pick up orbs in CoA at all by hotkey or mouse clicks even though I could see other people around me stealing my drops after enough time went by. These are just 2 examples of strange happenings since the update

    1. Both your snapshots are the same snapshot.
    2. Look at the numbers on hops 8 and 11. There is the primary source for the latency in your signal.

    Why is PWI so slow?
It's not. It would be more accurately stated as, "why is PWI so slow on my computer?"

And to answer that, you should start a new thread in the Technical Support Section, and provide some helpful information so someone can attempt to give you a realistic answer.

It's not. It would be more accurately stated as, "why is PWI so slow on my computer?"

And to answer that, you should start a new thread in the Technical Support Section, and provide some helpful information so someone can attempt to give you a realistic answer.

PWI used to have fewer graphics and textures, and ran on DX8. Now the graphical interface has been revamped/updated and many newer textures have been added.

Since the release of Raging Tides, each expansion adds more and more data for the CPU to handle. On older systems, or systems with more limited bandwidth on the CPU and PCI bus, this has an increasingly negative effect. Especially since the majority of display processes by the client are still sent to the CPU rather than being directed to the GPU.

Again I will say, if you would care to do what I said in the post of mine you quoted. I'll be more than happy to take a look and see if there's anything you can do to improve your performance.

"Archosaur lagging like crazy" is still low FPS and is not lag.
Lag vs FPS ~ It's an older article, but still quite accurate.
