Most of you probably know more about company mechanics than I do, as far as gaming goes anyway.

What benefit is there to PWI to have more people logged on??

We can all argue about the benefits of the Realm of Reflection but at the end of the day its reasonably insignificant. However I suspect it will cause more people to stay online, when otherwise they would just log off. I know I do.

I suspect the whole mechanic is designed to keep people online, but I'm wondering why PWI would do this - what is the benefit to them???

Chances are, a boutique item will come out, relating to this, and giving lots more EXP than currently now.

I dont believe that. It's not logical. They want us to stay logged on, and have dangled a carrot to get us to do it.

Mmm, this is more likely - get us familiar with it then offer the item.

Human nature interests me. How you get people to do things they dont really want to do. What is the least offer you make for the maximum result. And what is PWI thinking with this. b:puzzled

EDIT - I just had a thought - a wonder if they want to try and effect the catshop market? For those hours we are in reflection we would be much better off in a catshop, but reflection is much simpler - much less effort, but with much less potential benefit..........

Forsaken World lets people meditate for experience too. In that game's case, I think they just want players to play it more.

"Human nature interests me. How you get people to do things they dont really want to do."

You mean like play pwi? ;3 Just kidding.

And yeah. Making money with a catshop then using the money to buy fcc would probably be more effective.

If you are suspicious of it or don't like it. You don't have to do it. You can use your computer for other things if you leave it on all day :3

We're talking about PWE here. What's there not to be paranoid about?

PWI follows the trend/the bandwagon in MMORPG.
Many MMORPGs, including some other PWE games (Battle of Immortals & Forsaken World) already implement the AFK training, so I guess, they just follow the current trend/the bandwagon. b:chuckle

When you install perfect world on to your computer you also unwittingly install a script that allows chinese hackers to use your computer as part of a bot net. The more PCs they have online and connected to the game, the more bots in the bot net and the faster they can **** the DoD.

What with the interface having a ''deep reflection'' option that is as of yet unavailable...

So this is what they mean with ''playing the waiting game'' huh?

Try this PWE is listed on the stock exchange and its total worth is based on, player numbers per hour on average in game,
This will allow the company constantly show higher player numbers per hour therefore have a greater worth for its stock holders.

Add to the fact you can make it into a game coin sink its a Win-Win for PWI
Sucks for those of us who actually play the game.

Simple: AFK training gets implemented when they start losing more players than they are gaining so that new players can hit end game with less trouble. This is in hopes to pull a few more people in and get them to spend money on the game, since they won't know how to do anything, and maybe pull the game back out a bit.

Regardless I quit and I'm leaving, just thought I'd look at what came out since I got the xPac email. Lol

Yes, in their Financial Results, they always say how many ACU, average concurrent users, there is, but only for China. Those numbers don't really bother investors so much. High number of players is good, but if those players don't spend money, those number don't mean anything.

EDIT: This is PWRD "formula" for ACU:
monthly "average concurrent users," or "ACU," of any of our games operated in China is determined
as follows: we first determine the number of users logged on to the game at 5-minute intervals, then
average that data over the course of a day to derive the daily average; the daily average data are
    averaged over the monthly period to derive the monthly average concurrent users;

The benefit to PWI is that they are trying to get more people to be active when they are playing. By offering AFK xp obtainable by doing some daily quests they are trying to get more people to do the daily quests. Not really high lvl people, but all lvl (well 31+) How many bh29s, 39s, 51s, 59s, or even 69s on your server do you see forming. I see 1 maybe 2 a day, what they are doing is trying to provide an additional incentive for mid lvl people to do dailies instead of buying FC.

They are trying to fix their game.

    No benefit? -lol;k

    Less cat shops in cities
Coin sink (cost of port to and level w/o income)
Quicker and safer port back to Archo than Cube especially coming from RB
Even lazy people can now be productive while waiting for something to come up in WC

And the sweet thing about all this is it hasn't broken a single other way of farming XP. I've barely and will barely use it, but still kudos to devs for how it works so far.

EDIT: This is PWRD "formula" for ACU:

You have all that partially right... For those in business the term some will comes up alot. Mostly for the nay sayers that will tell you it will never work Not everyone is gonna spend money if you offer it to them for free... Well some will.... Now look at that number you posted 100 milion average users (I think its a little high last number I checked was at 50 million but that was pre tideborn patch) now take a small percentage of that number we'll say 1% of 100 million actually spend money on this game (and you know its higher than that) that would be 1 million people who have dropped most likely $20 or more into the game or continously do so.... You start to get an idea of business profits and passive income over time.

I think someone else on here hit the nail on the head... There will be some sale somewhere down the road for items in the boutique that doubles the exp rate (or even higher) that people will buy into

I also thought about this, if we look at the quests that give reflection shards, I guess they want people to do their BH in order to get them, which is good... BH squads are becoming scarce nowadays. b:surrender But I wonder what the deep meditation will be, perhaps stacking 20, 50, etc. shards for a slightly higher exp gain or maybe something involving a cash shop item. The only trend I see is people get to high level fast, they buy rep and rank items.

Reflection let low levels level faster, while multi client let people play on their high levels while levelling alts.

Next I can think of, is statistics. They can use the data of "number of people online at any one time".

If you read the 'new expansion in pwcn' thread, you'd find that deep meditation is, in fact, available through a boutiques item.
