As much as I hate CAPTCHA, it should also be used for login too. A few other sites I log on to, use it.

Seeing as how little time and effort goes into working on these forums, it's the least they could do to add one.

There already is a captcha for when you login with wrong password twice in a row.
There is no captcha for account creation

Thats where these bots are coming from.

Captcha is more of an annoyance than a help. There's a program that does a great job at bypassing Captcha, then there are the monkeys they pay to spam which bypass it too.

It wouldn't matter. One PW account can spam multiple forums, so these spammers would have no problem doing that manually.

There are plugins that could be installed, but this version of vbulletin is so butchered, it might not work correctly.

They could set the minimum time needed to post again to something like a minute.

It's a robot so it would just set the timer to post every minute instead of every 30 seconds. Which is the current minimum.

Perhaps make it so that you can only make 1 new thread a day until you have a certain post count. None of them seem to have one over a 100 for example.

or how bout a in-game lvl requirement before they can post on the forums like some other games do.

somewhere around lvl20-30 shouldnt cause to much of a problem

A lot of new players post asking for advice on how to stat their characters from the beginning. PWI already has a smaller amount of new people coming in then they should, so I don't think they should do anything that makes it unfriendly for them. But if you're new and wondering what class you should play, it's easy enough to ask any followup questions in the same thread you first created.

    b:thanks(b:pleased)b:thanks

It would be nice, if they'd had this forum similar too {Youtubes forums} (Where you can mark & flag posts as spam, and have it disappear...) Even if that option was only to be given to all of us, for the (Threads Titles) window; atleast we could all scan the list of threads as users & then Flag the (Mass Spam) ones... "So that it could be set for something like ({6 flags~or so} from seperate users) and it would be dropped off the main Forums list and left in a (garbage bin) so the {MODs & Powers that be} could then look at them then, and then confirm {whether they are spam and then just (delete them)} or if their not spam, just simply {(restore them) if their not}"

    b:thanks

"Even that sorta option for us would be a Big Help! To be able to help Nix this situation in the Butt....."

i hate CAPTCHA sometimes they are hard to read

I've seen some (but I can't remember where) where they are really clear and easy to read. Those I don't mind.

The ones where I have to refresh it 20 times just to get one I can fully read........ yeah, those suck.

It wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea if it took into account the account creation date, highest level character on the account, and number of posts made by the account. (In other words, forum regulars would never end up having to be bothered by the CAPTCHA).

I would add a captcha before login but before input the captcha I would add another captcha to be sure that who enters the next captcha its not a bot,and thus I would add a captcha to be sure that the one who enters the next captcha and the next one too isn't a bot,we may as well add a 4th captcha check in before log in case ...you known

Oh yes the captcha its removed if the user has purchased a R9 set.

Not this...a good CAPTCHA would be less complex and not all that annoying. The more complex of a solution, the more likely bad things will happen.

It the CAPTCHA is easy to read, I won't mind it.

The really frustrating to read ones make me more likely to just not bother with the site in question.

And actually now I do remember where I've seen some that aren't hard to read. Recently Blizzard had some security breach, and of course, I immediately went and changed all my passwords. Then after that they set it so account holders would be prompted to enter new security question answers, since that information had been compromised. I had mixed up two of my account passwords, and had to enter a CAPTCHA when I tried again to log in. It was nice and easy to read, not a problem. (I also have an authenticator for each of my accounts, which would be a nice feature for PWE to implement, especially for people who have sunk large chunks of RL cash into the game).

Do PWE accounts even have security questions? I can't remember ever setting one up.

The program is able to bypass security techniques commonly used by many forums and blogs to deter automated spam, such as account registration, client detection, many forms of CAPTCHAs, and e-mail activation before posting. The program utilises socks and http proxies in an attempt to make it more difficult for administrators to block posts by source IP and features a proxy checking tool to verify the integrity and anonymity of the proxies used.

    -Just need admins on it

    Agreed with this.

If they add one to account creation only, I'd have no problem with that (and I think it is a good idea). But adding one to forum login/submitting posts would make things really annoying and possibly deter a lot of people from using the forums.

A few times of trying to get captcha right on a f2p game you just downloaded that you've never played before might turn you toward another game.
