Oh they totally do but heres how I figure it would go down.
If the players were to fix the economy they would simply need to crash the market. They would litterly need to buy out the entire market, which would take more than one person obviously, but maybe a enitre faction doing this? And than do a complete re-price structuring on the items.
If PWE was to fix it they would simple need to discontinue the items, or remove them from the game completely.
One choice hurts a few, the other hurts the many.
Also I am not saying thats the only way to fix it, but at the moment thats the only option I really see.0 -
Both sound extremely unlikely to happen. lol[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Myrakou - Sanctuary wrote: »Both sound extremely unlikely to happen. lol
I know, right.
but it is still possible, if everyone went against merchants to lower their prices as much as they go against PWE for **** something up, I think the prices for stuff would fall.0 -
Or the game would be closed down for not making money any longer. Who knows.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
-
Actually all PWI needs to do to fix the market is set a price range on tradeable items. Kind of like what Run escape does (I know old game but their market system works and heck that game is still around)
Tradeable items would have a maxium and a minimum trade value i.e. if PWI said a DoT was worth 5-15 million coins you could only sell/trade it for that amount of coin or item with a similar value.
That I think is the most direct solution possible because it still allows for various prices depending on supply and demand and preventing price gouging.
A more direct solution would be to cap the price of Gold in the AH. By setting a max sale price or even locking it in would also end the horrible inflation we have on pack items (how much would of course depend on what the Gold cap would be, 1 mil, 500k 2 mil etc...)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Well tbh its not pwi's problem, the players chose to be greedy and thats why they raised their price, the price of things right now is all our fault.lalalala Pokemon

I totally mis-read this. I apologize.0 -
I know it's the player's fault prices are what they are I was just giving a couple ways PWI could fix the problem and stablize the economy.
And I never said anything about paying NPC prices for gems I even outlined a sample price (prices of an item from 6-8 months ago really) If such a thing was implimented in order to be successful they would have to use a rough equivalent of current or past market values or the system would **** everything up more.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

If they do this, then people will just sell gold outside of the AH like they do on the MY version (basically people will ask what you want and then buy it from the CS and trade it to you for the money). It would basically just ruin this version as no one but CSers will have gold.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

So many "experts" saying that 2x drops is bad for the economy and for the game. So many "experts" even attacking the OP for having audacity to state his opinion.
Not one "expert" advocating reducing the drop rate to improve the economy and the game in general. From this I can only infer that these "experts" must believe that either the current drop rate is optimum or the drop rate has no influence on the economy.
Also, no "experts" offering the suggestion varying the drop rates in differing circumstances, eg if TT items are "worthless" due to 2x events, then is the solution to exclude TT items from the 2x?
Can I also suggest that the at reason the lower level TT items are "worthless" is because so few players actually want them? Without population figures that PWE will never publish, it is difficult to know the percentage of the server population that are new players who are not hypering to at least 90. If a 60 or 70 toon is just going to FC hyper to 90, why bother getting TT gear at 60, 70 or 80? If you are going to end up with TT99 gear, then you only need to start at TT90. If you you are going straight to R8 or R9, then why bother with any TT gear? Anothe rgroup of lower level toons are alts of high levels that simply go farm what they need anyway.
Trolls, go for it. b:chuckle0 -

I agree. People are willing to buy overpriced junk, so merchants will still overprice their junk. It's not rocket science.
Stop buying the overpriced junk, and the merchants will reduce their prices. If they don't, then they won't be able to sell, and it will no longer be profitable for them to farm. The fact that people consider prices to be too high is proof that people are still PAYING the "too high" price, otherwise merchants would either lower the price or be outsold by people who have lower prices."Once, people only flew in their dreams. Now, they dream during their flights." - Howard Hendrix0 -

This use to be true. Most of the smart merchants keep their price the same, it eventually will sell, someone who is desperate for that item will buy it no matter what the price. This is how i merchant, people have this mindset " http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKofewfeSoY " So they feel they must get the item before tw or a certain period of time and therefore they will pay any price. I've experimented with this theory many times. Hasn't failed once.
@\_Ima_Him_/ - i have no problem with the OP's opinion, i have a problem with the way he presented it and to his "you on this server you dont count" assuming his the most important.lalalala Pokemon

Unless I'm misunderstanding the tooltip, there already is a cap on gold of 10 mil per, we just haven't hit the cap yet.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
You say everyone wants it, and no I dont care that your on a different server then I am as it effect EVERYONE if they decide to do this. (yes I know sanct had that one exception but we did have the porting and logging in problem that one, I repeat, ONE day) Well then I have a question for you, how the hell do you know what I want or not?
I DONT want 2x drops with the exp/spirit thing thats going to happen.(or already is, dunno lol) I mean yeah, I like the double drops but we just got through with that not too long ago, another double drops right now would be too soon imo.
Also for the comment some pages back about us not playing and just sitting on the forums to troll on QQers, yeah lie. I play this game, I dont cs either so dont throw that at me. Yes I charge gold to the game from time to time, but not enough to make me rich(Im so flippen broke on here lol)
I'm glad for the double spirit/exp, and Im overly glad that its not double drops with it. Yeah prices are high, I know this (is on one of the greediest servers there are) but double drops aint gonna make em lower it any. When packs go on sale, token prices dont lower, hell some go up.
So sorry if I dont see eye to eye with you, but dont say we all want something when that isnt true.
Ranting done, enjoy the game b:bye
(oh and if you love the game then you shouldnt need a double drops to want to play it, ijs)0 -

2X DROPS AND EXP/SP FOR 1 MONTH FOR LOST CITY SERVER!!!!!0 -
The peeps who don't want two X drops are the ones charging 7000 to 36,000 coins for each crafting materials like colored glue, in their catshops. Don't tell me that more loot drops make the prices increase, that is total bull****, the more there is of an item the cheaper that item becomes - this is elementary economics, basic supply and demand...For those who don't get it, when supply is greater than demand prices fall and when demand outstrips supply prices rise.
I personally don't 100% care whether or not they have 2X drops or not but honestly the drop rate on crafting materials is too fracking low even when there have been 2X drops.

correct but incorrect
2x drops also means 2x cash more money entering the market via monster drops and drops themselves (gear, materials, etc.) so yes its supply and demand but its a double-edge suppply and demand
its NOT JUST the supply and demand of the items being sold
but also the supply and demand on the value of coin.No0 -

LOL my dear friend i believe you should follow your own advice. How long does your server's economy take to recover after 2x? My server atleast takes a month, now with a month long 2x it will take forever. Im still waiting for the economy to recover from 2years back 2x, 1mil tt drop now 200k really?
It does Increase items price that come from packs. Allow me to elaborate.
2x = more item and cash flow within the economy = a tad lower gold prices = more gold to be bought to get more money = higher price of pack items. This is how it is for cs-ers.
In short low gold prices = higher price for cs items
High gold = low prices for cs prices. This is again for a cs shopper.
For someone who buys gold for orbs etc would be the complete opposite.
2= more canny/raps and tt mats = lower price for them which you may think is good but not really. People who are desperate for money will usually sell those items straight away.
After a few weeks i assume the price will go very low, like the last long 2x we had.
with 2x:
canny = 200k- getting 2 of them will make it 400k
Raps = 900k~ getting 2 of them will make it 1.8mil
Without 2x:
Canny = 400k
Raps = 1.8mil+
So as you can see you still make the same amount of money with or without 2x, its just the fact it says 2x that makes people go OMG lets farm, where as they can make the same amount without farming 2x. However this only applies to nirvana, and people who dont collect the cannies/raps for gear.
With TT the gold mats drop atleast 1mil-5mil. So bad idea selling during 2x.
I find it rather funny that you think crafting materials is the highlight of the whole economy. Trust me hunny, crafting materials is the least of our worries in pwi.
My logic could be flawed. So feel free to point out where im incorrect.
EDIT: Also remember the supply and demand rules.lalalala Pokemon

So, I personally think 2x drops/exp/sp would be lovely to have a little more frequently.
But I think I see both sides of this.
Yes the prices would drop for farmed items, and items crafted from those items.
But the prices for everything else such as tokens and gold would likely double due to the lower value of in-game money. Again, surplus=lower value. So while tokens may currently be at 14k, and gold may be around 1.6 mil, consider that doubled for a frequent 2x drop.
On the other hand, you have a lot of people that can't afford to spend real money on this game for whatever reason. So if they want something, they have to farm it. And the drop rates on some items are virtually non-existent. You could kill 100 of the same enemy and get 30 dq items, but only one crafting mat (glaze, glue, oil, whatever).
I think part of the problem is that skills are outrageously expensive, and the money from quests and killing just isn't enough to keep up with that in addition to outrageous gear costs.
But during 2x drops, it's virtually impossible to sell anything, because now everyone has 100 of it.I'M 103 YOU STUPID AVATAR!!!

I'm from Raging Tide Server the economy is just ***** thanks to 2x drops back to back, Raps=900K , Cannies =280K , doing nirvana isn't worth anymore , TT= is just almost gone with the wind of 2x drops , I SAY NO MORE 2x DROPS PLZ TILL CHRISTMAS !b:angry
Btw i heard that soon a new npc will start selling cannies for 50K each if it is is true god most of the farmers like me will suicide nothing left to make money Q____Qb:cry[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

i want 2x drops only for the reason that if im bored with nothing else to do ill go farm dq points, and get a good amount of coin and sum free sage/event gold things. But overall 2x drops fcks everything up...things have long been screwey economy wise anyways. I remember when anni packs first came out...they were actually pretty cool and everyone got addicted to them so fast....but the downfall was "hey lets bring ANNI PACKS back every 2 weeks" which at that point we all said good bye to a economy that was still sumwhat decent and thats when gold started gettin crazy.
Not to mention this new screwy phase of people all of a sudden goin on a crazy bender of wanting the g16 warsong belt.....making the demand for warsong belts skyrocket cuz everyone wants to combine multiples of em. Most people doin that have r9 and with r9 wtf is the point.....takin off ur r9 belt that adds +20 attack lvls as set bonus (6th piece) for a belt that gives +5 def lvls....makes no sense to me....
But all imma say is im glad i got lucky as hell and decided to buy a single coral pack from a catshop bout a month ago for 600k and got my ws belt outta that lol. SO now ill just hold on to it till people are so demanding and desperate for that belt, they payin over 100mil for em lol.
SO how bout no more 2x anything....and maybe (since this WILL NEVER EVER HAPPEN, since it makes pwi way too much money) take ALLLLL packs out the cash shop for just a week or 2 and see what happens.0 -
