Pretty sure most people leave this game for the following reasons.
1. Lack of support
2. Amount of bugs
3. Unbalanced classes
4. Boring end game (full game now with hyper frost to 100 in 1 day)
There are more bugs in this game than a rain forest, yet the devs dont care, as long as people keep giving them money they won't fix it. The classes are unbalanced as hell, I got a R9 barb as my main and a sin with 99/nirv/r8 gear and my sin is soooo much better.
I played wow for a while, and I wont say its the best game in the world, but they would actually patch the game and balance classes, when was the last time PWI EVER did that? NEVER!
Anyone remember the bug in gv a few years back where you couldnt get to back of rebirth to farm beans? That was a MAJOR bug that should have had emergency maintenance, but nope, we had to buy teleport incense. But if there is a bug in the cashshop they take the server down right away. ( yes, it has happened in the past)
EVERYONE has probably seen the huge blocks of black up by orchid temple and down by forest ruins, been there for years, but no one fixes it, what about people who have a 1080p resolution that cant see the bottom of the map without changing the resolution, or magic defense buff that I ALWAYS here clerics complaining about, or getting kicked out of rebirth if you take too much damage? I could go on and on.
This game is broken beyond repair, its a shame to, the first year of this game it was fun, no hypers noobs, which acually created fun pk cause people had to quest out of sz. And people for the most part learned their class. Only reason I stick around is cause Ive invested soooo much time and money into this dumb game, believe me though, when G W 2 comes out im gone.0 -

It's the people they level that really annoy me, because if you don't experience the class you're power leveling, and you get to 100+, you need to know what you're doing by those levels. you shouldn't start learning the class so late.
If you're one of those rare players who can pick up any class and master it quite easily, good job but... majority of people are not like that.
That's the one thing I hate about the way things are now. I think my annoyance with the game would be far less if the game still had competent players.
Of course that doesn't change the fact I still have come to hate the devs over in China for continuously messing things up more and more. >_>;

You sir, are either oversimplifying things or just completely ignorant. Yes, we know that people quit because they don't enjoy the game anymore. This entire thread has been a discussion as to why people are no longer finding this game appealing.
This is not some "psychological (spelled like this, by the way) ****". This is a handful of players who have gone through similar experiences and retelling their stories to generate some kind of meaningful discussion.
Just for the record, a question along the lines of "why is there life" would be philosophical, not psychological, idiot. And the question would be "why do we exist?" Why is there life is not even a valid question. There's life because it's sustainable on this planet, regardless of whether it was by chance or created by a deity. I'd disagree with the whole 90% chance thing. Once you reach level 100 or 101 (somewhere around there), you're most likely going to end up joining a TW guild. And whether you like it or not, you're going to be interacting with people who have powerleveled up there.
Even if you don't interact with these people through a guild, you're bound to run into them through BH, buying/selling items and worst of all, seeing them flood World Chat. You don't have to know someone for years before you learn what kind of person they are. Nor do you necessarily need to squad with them to find out that they annoy you.
In fact, I'd argue the other way. It's easiest to find the rich, elitist powerlevelers by not being in their squad. Try joining a squad with one of them. "Oh, archer without 5aps and 10k HP? noty." "BM that can tank? Noty, we want a barb with buffs."
I find that this game has gotten to the point where you can buy your way out of incompetence.0 -
People quit for various reasons, not just because of one. It's not JUST the way the game is being handled by either the dev team or the playerbase; it's not JUST because people can't be #1 on their server.
- They get bored. Either there's not enough content, the content isn't suited for them, they don't like it halfway through (or further), or they've done pretty much everything.
- They have RL issues which they choose over the game
- In fact, they don't need to have RL issues to choose RL over MMO gaming o_o
- It could also be because they can't achieve their goals... for whatever reason. Including because the way the dev team and playerbase handles the game DX.
As for me, I'm still finding this game fun. Sure I haven't been here for a long time, but if I quit, it's going to be most likely because I got bored or RL will put a spot to it DX. Either ways, my hours have dropped because of work DX.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Btw i quit the game a month ago..just checked on forum cause the anime-page is down now :P

Stopped playing 5-6 months ago because the game feels like a boring part-time job more than anything thats suppose to be fun. All you do is farm/merchant for coins to get better gear and plvl more chars to 100+. Anything else the game has to offer just feels pointless since you done it millions of times already and the profit is 0. I dont know if i really quit, i just dont have any motivation to log in-game.
@topic: Of course 99% quits because the game stops being fun and no other real reason. I dont even think the guys saying "IRL situations" made them quit are being completely honest. In reality they're just bored or frustrated with the game like everyone else. If you dont have a reason when you quit, people tend to bug you to come back for TW or help with something else. But if you cant play because of your holy "IRL" they usually leave you alone. Most people i know that quit because of their oh so busy life are currently playing other games now.0 -

Its not an oversimplification, its a basic fact. Like people leaveing a game due to either an inablity to continue playing (RL conflict) or due to a lack of enjoyment. As to why people leave specificly? Dosent matter, when i looked this was "the one real reason quit this game" I listed the one real reason. Can you argue that? Can you seriously argue that the reason people quit is not due to an inability or unwillingness to play? Specifics are different for everyone so there cannot be a real reason past that unless its something like the servers going down permanently and even that is a RL issue of sorts.

I love it when people pull up a dictionary entry to prove a point. If life is really as simple as a two-line, barebones technical entry online, how can you explain anything. Explain to me how religious figures who remain celebate manage to live fulfilling lives. Thanks....
Also, saying that people quit because of real life or because of an unwillingness to play? Thank you captain obvious. To use a stupid metaphor that I am sure someone will nitpick an unrelated flaw from, That is like saying "people die because their brain no longer functions." WHY? Cancer, old age, accident? It is a constructive exercise to debate this, and the same applies to dying/quitting the game.
Say you have a friend that you leveled with and enjoy playing with. If you know why someone would quit, maybe there is something you can do to stop it from happening to your friend.
Sorry in advance for feeding the trolls.0 -
I would quit but I don't... Why ?
Because I met my real life gf in game and i'm yet to be by her side (passport issues). So with phone and msn, this is the only way to "be with her".
I would quit cause of a very simple reason :
I don't work, there's none in my little rural 5k people town. So I pass months and months to achieve something to see someone come and do it in less then a week under my face. And they come up to me as well and dare say "look man, I got this and that by putting 100$ in, that's cool right ?"
And then when I try to show something to someone I acheived, it's always like "hmm.yeah..nice" to be polite.. Kinda had it...
And when I ask people what to do to be less bored ? They tell me "Move out and find work"
And it's not to play less and get less bored they say..nooooo...It's so I could have more money to put in game...For gods sake, this is a free game...If I don't want to invest 1000-2000$ in it, do I have to feel left behind in any high level instances ??
That will soon make me quit...Proud supporter of the new expansion. Sure it has it's share of bugs, like any games. But for a pure farmer/grinder, that's a whole lot of new mobs to go beat up b:chuckle0 -

Actually, what's funny is his inability to continue a conversation.
In his original post, he comments how "I quit this game because I got bored. Who gives a **** as to why." Then he continues to say that this is like a philosophical debate, that nothing will matter and nothing will change. This is someone who will answer your question of "How was your day?" with "Fine." and nothing more.
How is this relevant, you ask? When someone asks how your day was, this is obvious a conversation starter. As opposed to simply answering with "fine", it's only natural to continue with why (or what happened).
This thread was started to convey an opinion. OP posted this reveal his opinion on the subject of quitting this game. Naturally, people will come to this thread, agree or disagree with his opinion and leave a comment as to why. Three pages of discussion later, the subject is bound to be slightly different (yet still relevant). We're not only addressing the first post, we're addressing and taking into account every other post in this thread as well.
What we see in Joshcja is someone who might not even have read any of the posts in between. Even should he have read them, he seems to disregard them completely and then continues to say "people quit because they're bored." As if we didn't know that already.0 -
Troll aside, let's get back on topic. A month or two ago, I would have quit if my friends quit. No answer there as I would need to see into their mind which I cannot.
What would make me quit tho? Hard to say. I'm on a pvp server so I can always make up my own content. I could always go outside archo and play mice bashing with the lvl 30's. Or even better, I could protect those lowbies from other rednames. Pve wise, as long as there are people needing help with fb/bh/quest I will not get bored. That's just me tho. Tbh, nothing ingame would make me quit ATM.
Now, RL issues are different. Two and a half years ago, I quit because of my gf. Needed to spend time with her. Now, I would want a potential gf to play too. Guess there is no getting rid of me.
Other people should share why they would quit now and maybe we can starve the trolls with a real discussion.0 -
I quit because the games ****,run by incompetent monkeys wanting to squeeze every last drop of money from your bank account to pay for their bananas...also because battlestar galactica online came out,a browser f2p which is all about pvp and massive fleet battles and is graphically amazing for a browser game, all about your pilot skills...this game requires no skill in pvp although i'm sure most of you would say otherwise...denial sigh.
PS,i don't still read the forum, had this bookmarked and figured i'd check to see what new moneymaking scheme pw had come up with.
Bye bye.How to be pro at all recent COD games, lay claymore behind you at exit to room, lie down and shoot anyone coming in front door, rinse and repeat.

Best of all, after a few kills the game will play itself and bump your k/d to new highs with its killstreaks system!0 -
I stopped playing this game several months ago, and I am happy.
I spent too much time for nothing. I could have learned new language or improved my pronunciation, but I didn't.
I had to pay for my mistake, I couldn't get a job, because I wasn't speak fluently.
I realized that I have to work hard to reach what I want to, so if I have a spare time now I spend it very wisely.
This game is only about the money, nothing more. So pay more, more, and more, that's all conception that the management of this company have in their mind.0 -

The reason I said it is because I've met way too many of them.
Why would I say something I had no experience myself with?
You'd be daft to say there aren't more and more players who don't know what the hell they're doing. Sure they existed even back in 2008. But now? It's far far worse. People are getting to higher levels too quickly, not having enough time to learn certain things properly. And that's not limited to only FF powerleveling, it applies to BH as well. People can get from 30 to 40 in a day or two, where before BH it took a lot longer than that. I wouldn't gripe too much about BH but the fact of the matter is, even BH is being solo'd by peoples' higher level alts who let low levels tag along. They learn nothing from watching a high level solo the entire instance. this too happened before, but now it's pretty much an everyday, constant thing.
I could go on and on, but I'm sure you'd only dub me a "QQer", as is the excuse for every valid opinion on these forums different from yours (and others').[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
