    No.....

If your bank mistakenly credits you with extra money, do you get to spend it? Perhaps. But if you do, you will get to pay it back once the error is discovered. Every bank I've ever dealt with works this way, and 'I didn't know it wasn't mine' is never an acceptable excuse.

This is no different, and its more fair for everyone than the alternatives.

<off to check my dq balance....>

We're not talking about zen ffs we're talking about made up pixel points.......

If someone logged in for the first time in two months and bought a bunch of items thinking that his point balance was accurate, then he just got his items far earlier than he would have been able to normally. Had the error not occurred, he would be sitting here now with no items and the need to farm DQs to be able to get them.

So it's also not fair that some players were mistakenly given points while others were not, because they are now sitting on items that should have taken substantial effort to obtain.

On the other hand, if the person spent the points knowing that they were actually caused by a glitch, then this would fit the definition of exploiting, which is against the ToS (under the section about User Conduct). Technically we could temporarily ban these accounts and attempt to recover the items obtained, but this would be a lengthy process and we'd rather not shut players out of the game.

Meh, I still think the average player won't log into the PWI website much to check their balance. Either way you look at it, mistakes we're made. I appreciate getting the response back on this subject.

ORLY? If that's the case, then I think you're just trolling, since it would be just stupid for someone to rage quit over some made up pixel points.....

While I'm not happy with the solution, I do see the reasoning behind it and at least we have 10 days of double drops to make it easier. I guess my next question is will we be penalized for our points staying in the negative for a long time, or do we have an indefinite amount of time to get back to 0?

This wasn't a discussion of spending money in game. It was a discussion of whether or not the way PWE handled the DQ system bug was fair. He rages that it wasn't, and says "you've lost my business". Which, unless he's Bill Clinton, means he's quitting...or he's just trolling.

He's not trolling but you sure are. Yamchayama's example is actually accurate to what happened last week even though it's a real world example. The dragon points are the pixelated equivalent to credit or money irl. PWI is the bank. PWI accidentally gave you extra points whether you realized it was a mistake or not. You and other people took ADVANTAGE of the mistake and spent those points/money on items that were provided. You have to pay back the bank/pwi the money/dragon points by working or some other way. Sure pwi made a mistake however you shouldn't have spent those points. PWI isn't to blame for you taking ADVANTAGE of the situation, so yes PWI DOES have the right for you to work to get those points back to zero. Just like the bank has the right to make you pay them back the money that you took advantage of spending. Don't like it? Well maybe you should have thought a little more about it and instead of being a greedy opportunist, you shpuld've reported the influx of DQ to Perfect World Entertainment. Sure it may be a a game but laws of the universe still apply. You get back what you put out. You take advantage of the system, now you have to work to correct that mistake. :s

And hai, I'm the average PWI player, and I actually do check back on the DQ site pretty frequently :s

Taking advantage means the person is aware of the error.

Taking advantage means the person is aware of the error.

Whether you knew it or not, you still were exploiting a glitch. There are reprocussions for certain actions, the smart thing to do would be to report the unexpected high number and or look through your DQ items vendored and manually add up the points yourself and compare it with the number presented. If the number was higher than expected, then you should've reported the glitch instead of buying it.

I am VERY unsympathetic towards people who do notice glitches but instead of reporting takes advantage of it thinking that it's a normal occurance without checking it out :s So shame on you.

Apparently you're either to stupid or to lazy to read previous posts. You can't go back and check everything you've vendered for the last two months like my case it shows only the latest 10. It's completely their fault and error, but now all the unknowing people must pay for their mistake.

If someone is at -19m and they spent that many points DUUUHHHH that's pretty damn obvious it was an error and they shouldn't have. Most of us, like my wife, had 14k on their to spend and I had 30k to spend which was nothing out of the ordinary to report.

PWI dropped the ball on this one, but oh well ultimately it will hurt them in the end.
