But you can make the majority happy.
This is a poll on whether you think power leveling is a good thing or a bad thing.
A lot of people say that mmo's are just a grind fest and that leveling shouldn't take years, so PWI releases FC, hypers, oracles, etc.
Then another group of people say that power leveling takes the challenge out of the game and results in people who don't know how to play their class endgame.
So answer the poll- do you think power leveling is a good or bad thing?
Edit: just remember, I'm asking as rule if power leveling is a good/bad thing. That doesn't mean that you should say that -you- are fine for power leveling because you know all the characters and everyone else needs to level normally. You have to accept the good and the bad of whichever way you vote.

I think it was ok if a person is willing to put the effort into learning the class. For example someone who didn't was an archer I squaded with for a Delta
So we were in delta to a wave 4 and I noticed he wasn't using BOA and was only using fists (level 50 ones), so I asked.
Me: Hey, *insert persons name here* how come your not using BOA on the mobs here, they will die faster if we are all aoeing
Archer: I left my bow in the bank
Me: uhhhh, why? You need to BOA in here or we wont have enough aoe
Archer: It's ok I do more damage with my fists anyways.
Me: Maybe to a single mob, but there are like 30 mobs here
Archer: I kill fast with my fists
.....needless to say that delta failed because after we managed to do the first waves he wouldnt listen to us and mine beans and killed the first boss instead of waiting that 15mins.
I have had many other experiences with people who have no idea how to play their class either this was one of the most memorable examples. Also, if they have like starter gear at level 100 it is kinda sad.
But, if you can power level your player and learn it, be my guest.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I've already played these classes a long time for 2years, powerleveling to 101 would not bother me a bit since I already know how to play. As for noobs who know nothing, and just lvl up to be pro, then end up not knowing wtf they are doing...that's another case.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I've posted my opinion on this before but I'll bring up the finer points of my argument.
First of all, no one is forcing you to power level. Having an extra option is just that, an OPTION, if you want to do all your quests and grind fish to level 100 then go ahead.
Second, this game isn't complicated. You don't need to play your class for a year, slowly grinding to 100, to know what you're doing. Stop pretending it takes 6months + to learn your class, it takes a week at best.
Third, it just makes it harder for new people entering the game to be competitive, without spending buckets of cash. Want to PvP with the big dogs? Want to go to a factor TW? Well first you need to be 100, no exceptions. So that's gonna take you AGES. Then you need to farm gears. That will take even longer. Gearing up to the point of being factor is already difficult enough, no need to add another unnecessary step.
Fourth, bad players will be bad, good players will be good. I don't care that some random level 100 cleric didn't know what ironheart was. If someone is a bad player then they will be bad, and no amount of forced grinding will change that.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I personally don't like a game to be a sucky grind fest until I reach high level, I want to enjoy the journey. If people are in such a rush to get to the end, it doesn't bother me. But don't call me a noob for taking longer to level if I'm doing it the legit way. xD0

Most new characters aren't new players anymore, its alts. I really dont think power leveling is all that bad, since majority of chars that rushes to 100+ belongs to players that already know the basics about the game. The fact that you can try a new class and get it to 100+ pretty fast makes people interested in the game, makes them keep playing to.
Before power leveling your choice of class was kinda final and once you worked your way up to 99+ you had to stick with it. If you realized you didn't like to play veno or whatever, than people mostly just quit. Knowing that you had to spend 6 months grinding to 100+ if you wanted to re-roll didn't really encourage people to stay around.
New 100+ chars means people will buy gear/mats/skill etc to. I doubt you would be able to sell all those stacks of uncannys from x2 drops if they removed the option to power level.
I really dont care if new players power level either. So what if they dont know how to do anything besides auto attacking heads in Frost with a bow. You dont have to party with them.0 -
I understand people's desire to power level when it's their 3rd or 4th time levelling up a similar character. I don't completely agree with it, unless this is the 3rd time levelling up say a psychic with the exact same stat distribution/equipment/etc. If that's what you want to do then by all means. I cannot stop you.
I cannot count the number of times I hear a high level ask a question to which they should have already known the answer since before level 50. Or hearing the words "I've never been in here before" from a level 80ish character helping with BH39. Or a cleric with level 1 purify at level 85+ and not understanding its purpose, wtf.
Sure powerlevelling can get you through the rough levels (all 100 of them, right?) but look at what you've missed out on: how to operate within a group that is not FCC. All powerlevelling does is train you on how to zerg the hell out of anything and everything you fight. It's not a mentality I like in the slightest for an MMO.
Plus, doesn't everyone complain there's nothing to do at endgame? Why the rush to powerlevel to get there o.o?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

In my opinion..You have a main, u know the map, u know where dungeons are..Go ahead powerlevel ur alt.
But..I didn't do the test so I can't confirm..But say u powerlevel a char from 1 to 100 (extremist) at heads in FC. I personnaly think the spirit u'll get will be a lot less then all then grinding/quests/bh/cs whatever combined you would have got on your way there.
A bad experience I had ? BH89 Brim..Before I got my hp charm..Barb was sleepy or I dunno and I stole agro whitout noticing fast enough and dropped like a fly hit by a 100 pound squater. I get rezed and suffer same penalty loss as if I would have released...Rez lvl 1 ?? on a 91 cleric ?? And i'm not a pro either, but ain't it better to BB when u have a barb, 2 sins and a BM tanking or u just wait and throw one IH on whoever gets hit ?
To powerlevel an alt since u know the game : Yup
To powrlevel to be cool but look like a moron instead cause u barely know anything : NoProud supporter of the new expansion. Sure it has it's share of bugs, like any games. But for a pure farmer/grinder, that's a whole lot of new mobs to go beat up b:chuckle0 -

It's pretty much this.
I have been around for 2 and a half years now. And I am still level 90. That is because I leveled doing every single quest (and also because I am lazy). I learned the story behind the game. I learned where stuff is, where I am supposed to go do things and so on.
Now to be quite honest, I'd never level a character to 90 by doing quests again. Simply because the quests stay the same from level 20+ and are nothing but pointless grinding (chinese game ftw!).
I'd have to agree with the person I quoted. As soon as you (at least partially) leveled your main character in normal ways (even BH is ok), and feel safe about your in game knowledge (and in game common sense) you should consider yourself allowed to powerlevel. However you should go and read guides about the new class, go do some training and ask fellow players for advice before actually doing serious business.Feel free to PM me for help.

There's nothing fun to do in this game, at all really.
FW adopted this game methods of levelling, but earlier and more obvious, PW it self is just a game where we do nothing but dailys starting 40+ really and FCs till we all hit 100, then that's it, either cash shop for some money for TT99 and Rank8, or farm it normally, after that, its just TW, nirvana i suppose, can't think of anything that's generally fun to do though, its just all farming.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I would have been well into 102+ by now was it not that i take my time to get better gears first. I really don't care to get to 101 fast, and even my cleric at 96 has NEVER been into an FC.
Powerlevelling isn't that bad, but the big problem is the time you need to spend to get decent gear and at least know the instances and how they are run.
If some idiot wants to Plvl to 100+ without knowing the game in depth or knowing their own toon or have decent gear, then that's their problem.0 -

On-topic, I played this game when the only dailies were Crazy Stone and World Quest (and Friendship quest, can't forget that one when you found a crystal during your numerous hours of grinding each day). Back before BHes/FCCs/oracles, the only way to level was grinding. I HATED grinding. Kill x mobs for .1%. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
And I didn't even get past mid levels before the first power-leveling methods came out. And when Bh came out... omg, I loooved it. A chance to run an instance every day, for reasonable exp? Yes please!
Then again, there is a level 101 Psychic in my faction who recently had to tank TT 2-3, because the Seeker who was tanking didn't know how to keep his clerics alive (yeah, he had 2, and let both die... just sat there while they took heal aggro). There is little doubt that this Seeker has never had to tank his own instances.
I think the rule of thumb here is to level up in a reasonably old-fashioned way first... do some instances, grind your culti mobs... learn what the different roles of PWI are. Not jsut whatever your role is... but the tank's, the healer's, the DD's, the puller's... every squad role there is, you will learn just by watching what other characters do. Then, and only then, are you allowed to spam oracles, or hyper in FCC, or whatever your method of power-levelling is.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

These debates always have two sided arguments, with a twist.
It's quite simple, somone that just loaded up this game last week, does not need to be 100 this week Why? because they will be on the forums asking if -int helps his casting skill...b:shutup
Vetran players, PLing is good, Why? because most of them has already seen every nook, and cranny in this game, learned other classes from relying on them on their own classes. And quiote frankly PW low end content is repetative after the first go round..
, a newb can level up just fine in BHs FCs, and earlier quest, really don't need to contribute to stupid people by PLing them.0 -
power leveling is ok... somewhat
as long as u take the effort to learn the game and play the class properly.
I dont care if bad players are bad regardless of power leveling or not but if your bad AND powerleveling then go work over time on your efforts.

Honestly, this game isn't that hard to figure out. Someone COMPLETELY new to the game could hyper to 100 and spend a week or so figuring things out and be fine. They may not remember insignificant things such as the steps to completing a 2x quest chain, but so what? Grinding doesn't teach you anything that you couldn't learn in a week or two. So, I guess I am for powerleveling. It doesn't really bother me when people ask "stupid" questions that to most people have obvious answers, so I can't understand what the big deal is about that either.
I mean, I would prefer that someone play the game to 7x or 8x without having someone to plvl them, but I haven't run into any disastrous 10x that don't know what they're doing because the plvled so I guess it doesn't really matter. I'm sure others have had different experiences, but stupidity is stupidity whether or not it involves powerleveling.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

This game isn't rocket science....don't try to make it look like it is. Some people have work, and can't play as much as someone who puts in 8 hours, so I say let them power level. Others have had enough of grind fest mmos, it's their choice to power level. I power leveled from around 45 to 81, and I've had enough time to learn most of the game mechanics. If I go to an instance I've never been before, it only takes me about 1-2 runs to learn how it works. My gear is around my level and so are my skills.
I've seen several people running around, in their 30-40s, who had not power leveled, and had no idea what they were doing. When I would see one like that, I would explain to them what they did not know, and if they did not want want to listen, I let them be. Simple.
It's their money, they can do what they want with it.b:bye0 -
I think you need a third option, i don't powerlevel, but i don't care if others do, so i didn't put any response on the poll b:bye
I considered putting an option for this, but that gives people an easy neutral answer. The point of the poll is to force people to decide whether they believe power leveling is a good or bad thing.
Otherwise everyone would just choose the option saying, "I don't care about other people power leveling as long as it doesn't effect me."0
