Beginning of the End (or $200 ZEN)

So after a long break from PWI, I decided to come back for more, and check the new Genesis expansion. Being a lvl 92 I got through most of the new content fairly quickly.
Then I decide to charge some ZEN and go Cash Shop happy.
To my utter surprise, PWI now sells up to $200 worth of ZEN with a 1300 bonus ZEN. Back when I was playing, the most you could buy was $50 and I thought even THAT was too much to spend on pretty pixels.
Is PWI really that desperate to rake in the dough before the ship sinks? Does any other PWI game really require that much ZEN?

You only gain an extra $1 worth of Zen when you charge the full $200 instead of 4 payments of $50. I don't know what OP is so worried about.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'm worried about the fact PWI is enticing (or making it easier for) people to spend more money on this game by offering more expensive payment options.
Couple that with their other money-making schemes (ani packs, anyone?) and I'll be looking for another game to play.0 -

I see your point, and agree to an extent, but you can't blame a company for trying to make money. PWE is well aware that the game has flaws and they try to make amends where possible, but the content they're given is from a different version of the game where the economy and how things are run differ. They offer us a means, although not cheap, of balancing any discrepancies in the content between the two versions. And besides, without the cashopping community, PWE wouldn't be able to maintain a game for the free players to play.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

That aside the fact of the matter is and has been for a while now, when the game launched it was grinder mmo players paradise, people worked for things for w/e reasons they had and enjoyed playing. Nix QQ was the dominant issue but it only affected 1 area of gameplay.
Post Tide Born expansion the game went from a "hardcore MMO'er " game to a "casual play" game akin to a facebook game you play while waiting for something else to come along. Even threads with 70+ pages don't get you backing and opinions to the head office. THIS IS NOT A COMMUNITY IMPORTANCE GAME IT IS A CASUAL GAME made with the intent of buying time for them to find a new hit product and allow the devs to retire happily.
Caring will get you no where for this title friend, enjoy little bits on and off of playing as you like or start searching more actively for another game to play. Yelling at a dead dog won't make it get up and play with you again.

not cause of what the OP said but because its EASIER to spend MORE in LITTLE increments instead of a BIG WAD all at once. I like the 200 USD option cause some of us sometimes like to charge a bit and now we can do that. We don't have to write to support and stuff around, trying to get the damn thing, listed on our account.
That is pretty all right customer service if you can charge a lot and get a bit extra.

game doesn't "require" people to charge money at all. its a convenience - one that many people opt to take advantage of if their wallets allow it. The higher end gears that people cash shop to get quickly can very well be obtained without cash shopping - it just takes a bit longer. Farming and merchanting are both viable options in this game - just many people fail to recognize this fact or how to utilize them to their fullest potential.0

hehe, just wondering. you should know how long it is going to take farming R9/NV set. Even with a all 50 squad, you will need close to a year if you play 5/6 hours a day. I do not believe you can really play for free unless you do not care gears or happy with regular HH gears.0 -
I farmed all the rep i needed for rank 8, plus the coin to buy, shard, and refine to +3 the gear in just 4 days. I've had days where my catshop has brought in 10 million (in profit) a day just from buying and selling the same item - and thats just at the low end of things. I know there are some people capable of bringing in more money than that.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Yeah, um... no.
A dead game is one where you try to log-on one day, except the servers have been shut down because not enough people were paying to support the game you were playing for free. Do a Google search on F2P MMOs launched within the past 10 years and you'll find a vast wasteland of bankruptcies.
And frankly, as people have increased the amount that they're willing to pay, the amount of income I've been able to generate for free has increased too.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
