I have to agree that the old auto-path was just to easy. Setting the flying height just once then using the "Confirm" click any other time was way to simple. Specially for those of us that do daily WQ's on a few of our characters, who also know how to use our "space bar", "W key" and "Arrows" to control height until we click on that "Confirm". AND who don't fly into trees, walls, towers or the max height in OHT, because we're paying attention.

Now it is much more fun setting the height every time you have to fly, specially on quest that require you to do so 20 times or more within the run. Increasing our game play frustration at the junk that's being forced on us, by devs who don't play the game, fixing something that was never broken and something that there were no complaints about.

Think they'd give us back the old auto-path? Not a chance. Look at Horns. Took them out then put them back WITH A POP_UP screen like anyone wanted or needed that. Talk about insult to injury. Should rename the game to "Revenge of the Nerds"

They might matter to some, but others could really care less about. I have yet to really see anyone on RT complain about it, no one in my faction said a word or any of my friends. So idk. b:chuckle

I complain all the time about it. With the resolution I have to have the game at so the new UI don't block everything that slider bar is really tiny. It very hard to click on. Now I have to bring out my flametalon fly up a few feet and then autopath and slide the sliderbar so I don't run into a building and get hungup. B4 all I had to do is autopath and click confirm.

    Your argument lacks something...

If you instantly went to the set altitude for flying, I'd agree.

However, when I start flying, I simply hold the space bar, then as I get close to my desired altitude, let it go, keep moving the slider to where I want it, and voila, I keep ascending smoothly. Therefore... NO time is wasted, at all.

Before, it was a little trickier because you had to press the space bar, let go, and hit confirm just right, or you would stop ascending, then start again, which was annoying. Or you would cancel ascending with the space bar, not notice it, go afk, come back, and find yourself dead in a world boss' fingerprint.

the point of that slider is to make it so you dont need to hold space and it just increases your altitude itself. i point blank hate thisi flying bar compared to the old one if i move or hit space i have to drag the bar to the left then to the right just to reset it and then when im done autopathing and have to move to the next place i have to reset it all over again where as the old one i just had to click confirm.

Everything has its beginnings, but it doesn't start at one. It starts long before that... The world is born From zero. The moment zero becomes one is the moment the world springs to life. One becomes 2. 2 becomes 10. 10 becomes 100. taking it all back to one solves nothing. so long as zero remains... One.. Will eventually grow to 100 again.

i'm still using the old autopath box. in fact, the whole old UI.

i could cope with the new autopath box if i had to --- it'd annoy me, but i could live with it --- except that there's just too many annoying details like that in the new UI. all taken together it isn't worth it, so i reverted to the old and on the old i will stay.

Even with just the confirm button, I often times use different altitudes depending on where I am. 60 for the east most part of the map, going up in increments of 5 the further west I go. I don't like flying into Jewel, or mobs. So with the confirm button, I still had to move the stupid slider all day long, AND click confirm. Often times, I'd miss the altitude I was targeting, hit confirm, b:angry rage, move the slider one value, click confirm again, and be on my merry way.

I found the Confirm button clunky. It was annoying. But, whatever.

i've never seen much point to this, to be honest. i fly at max, everywhere, always; then there's no question about running into anything, because there's nothing up there.

if for some reason i don't want to climb that high, i set the thing to take me up to max then hit "z" when i'm at the height i want. if i don't care enough to wait around at my keyboard for the right moment to hit "z", why should i care enough to not simply fly at max?

I fly at max on my veno, since her aero is quick, but on my cleric, with her stubby lil white starter wings, I sometimes set it a little lower than max, just to save a bit of time.

actually, i've found myself wondering if the flying speed is implemented as airspeed or ground speed. has anybody bothered finding out, and if so, how did they go about it?

    It's airspeed.
Your horizontal distance travelled is slower when you're changing altitude (based on personal observations over the years).

I never used the slider on the old autopath. The touchpad on my laptop is, well, touchy, and I found the slider small and sometimes hard to grab. Only took me a second to type in the height I wanted and hit confirm, and then it always remembered my height (which I usually kept around the same) so I was set.

Now I have no choice. And now things are messy for me. Why can't we have the option for both, where if you use the slider it goes up automatically but if you type in it remembers and you can just hit confirm to start it next time if you like?

Too dangerous for me to just hit autopath now. I have to jump on my fly mount and go up to desired height (or at least clear danger) first. That ticks me off.
