As the title says. I wanted to make a Global Moderator Application as: Community Management Specialist, but I'm not sure it will get approved, since I heard from some people that they only approve applications close to their companies, like in California, China. If that's true then I must say that it's a miss of many talented people that want to get a chance to work for PWE, but can't because he, she don't live close to their companies... That's actually really sad. Because then the person wont get a chance to work for sucha awesome company. I bet that there is more people out there that want the answer of this question. If it's true that you MUST live close to the companies, before you can get hired, then I just hope that there will be a day, when you can work for this brilliant company at home. PWE would gain allot of traffic, if they hired more "Professional" workers that could advertise the game(s) and of course the company so PWE could gain more active gamers and more talented workers. I myself want to work for PWE as: Community Management Specialist, because I knew it was a way to success. I would even work for PWE for FREE, just to get a chance to full fill my dreams. If any of you Global Moderator's that reads this thread, then please be glad and happy of what you have reached so fare and what you have right now, because it's precious thing.

I hope that I made the thread in the correct section, and if I haven't then I'm really sorry.

Long live PWE! :)

Sincerely: Bulleteye.

What you should do is look at this: http://www.perfectworld.com/about/job and follow the directions there. Good luck :D

    A good moderator should:
    - Have the computer skills necessary to handle forum-related tasks (Web skills, basic programming)
    - Be patient to handle all sorts of requests
    - Be level-headed to keep discussions and some petty squabbles in check.b:cool

GMs have to work out of the office most of the time (as far as i understand it) hence the "must be relatively local" restriction.

And I don't think the forum is the right place at all to post a job application. O.o

If you want to be an official employee of PWE, then yes you would have to live within commuting distance of their offices in California. Volunteer moderators can live anywhere in the world, as long as they are available to communicate regularly with the CM/GMs. Those moderators are forum only though - they have no real management abilities other than keeping the forums clean.

The position you are describing sounds an awful lot like the Community Manager position for PWI, currently held by FrankieRaye - I hate to dash your hopes, but that would absolutely require you to be near their offices.

FatherTed your answer were great. If I can't get a chance to become "Community Manager" Because I need to be near their offices, then I must go for Moderator and if possible higher goals.

I think most companies don't really like to offer work-at-home jobs. That's more freelancing imo. Usually advertising is done enough by the company and players themselves in an mmo so they wouldn't feel the need to hire "professionals" who stay at home and work leisurely where they can't keep their eyes on them. At least I know the work at home is still a rather western thought than Asian. Well idk, if I had to hire people for a big company and will be paying them I'd expect them to come to work/office and work in a corporate environment. If they worked for free (like the forum mods) then they can stay home and do whatever they want to help the company but I don't really consider that "hired."

edit: bleh he said it much better than I did b:laugh

Becoming a part of a "Staff" team can be considered as "hired" because you will get responsibilities to take care of a forum and stay active. That's a way to success. Also in the start that you mention that, if it was you, you wouldn't hire them if they didn't come to work/office I totally agree, but it could be a "DREAM COME TRUE" for many peoples out there.

I hear you bro. You definitely have this qualification:

    "Very strong web communication skills"

Now all you need is an interview.

I'd hire ya. You would probably do a better job as a CM or GM for PWE than the current one's.....

Then again the last time we saw a GM that wasn't frankie or kant....oh...I believe it was when somebody finally hit 105 on the Lost City server. b:faint
Also, if you do have skills in computer design and basic java/script or other programming languages could you possible place an app at their development team and see if you can get china to fix the rubberband, random lag spike causing a DC (This is very random actually...it's weird), and..

Actually just search "Bug" in the search function of the forum and you should find a few pages that have 'em all listed, or at least the majority of them.

Oh dear, the community manager is updating "Articles, News, Blog and so on" That's why he,she isn't that active in the forums, because he have the GM, Moderators to take care of it, that's what they are used for. Well I have skills in programming: PHP, HTML, C+, C++ but I'm not going to make an application as development team sorry.

Looking at the jobs listed there, some of them clearly state that they are local positions only, alluring to the fact that they may hire someone to work from home. It's not impossible, afterall, it's just that much easier to actually be able to go there and use their own equipment and speak with others directly.

Watching some posts it seems sometimes Frankie might work out of office, however, asian companies are very paranoid in general of allowing much freedom for workers outside of the building designated for work while on the clock. They watch IPs from where people log-in and when it comes to using things like a GM login/program, certainly use a whitelist of IP ranges.

And I don't recall who said that this is part of the developing team but they obviously got this confused. A CM job is not development. It's publishing. If it were development he would have greater access to the game and, himself, get stuff done faster, and wouldn't need such a delay in getting 2x/snowmen turned back on.

I don't see them hiring a CM for their CA publisher from outside the Bay Area.

I gotta go with Meow on this one, you don't seem to know much tbh.

Your lvl 56, and that means you hardly know much about the game itself at all, let alone endgame.

That and your nasty responses to anyone that should speak against you are deffintly not the kinds of aspects I want to see in somebody thats asking for a position of power.

Oh, and the chance of PWE handing you a job are slim to none. Your not the first crazed PWE fanboy that thinks he can be a contributing part of the company, and you won't be the last.

    A. This company is losing money every day. They probably don't have enough money to hire you.

    B. This company will be dead very soon. If I were you I'd look for a more stable job.

Yes, in order to get a job with a company, you must move to its location.

It's almost like 99% of every other company on the planet, really.

Also being an arrogant d-bag doesn't help your case, although you'd probably fit in great with our current mod/GM team.

Not one single person has said this thread should be moved to off topic, there was just once instance where that lvl 1 panda barb tried to say something and you told him to take his spam to the off topic forum, so it is you that is acting like they can move people to the off topic forum
