omg now seriously some ppl got pmed by a GM to write english in WC
i gotta say that is ridiculous, after all the name says itself PW INTERNATIONAL

PWI has always been targeted at the US / North America.
"International" is like another word for "foreign" and the US is a foreign country to China.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'll go with middle zone.
PWI does stand for Perfect World Interantional, but it only houses european and U.S. players. (Some area's are even restricted from access)
Which considering MOST of us are english speakers by birth it is prefered that, english is the main languaged used in the game so people know what others are saying. though other langauges are acceptable, if people abuse them they made be told to post in english.
Couldn't tell ya for the life of me what rules the GMs use tho.0 -
International = at least two different countries. In this case, China and USA.
Global = around the world.
Asians use International in difference sense than us. For example, FF10 had another version called International that was never released outside Asia. Well, unless you count PAL version that didn't include the name International.100% F2P player. Started PW: March 2007, Quit PW: March 2011.

As stated before, International does not = Global. This version of PW is not only translated entirely into english, but targeted mainly to english speakers. Not only that, but the servers used in this version are housed entirely in North America, and are on North American East Coast/West Coast time zones.
In essence, PWI is a North American game only, but there are accomodations for some other regions. So, yeah...GM is correct in telling you to speak english. In an English only game.Some people risk to employ me

nah imo this version is translated into english because, its a world language. understandable for most ppl worldwide. for setting timezones on east and west coast blah who cares, while Northamerica is "sleeping" servers r still full of ppl(prolly most ppl are not american at that time).
Furthermore, what u r trying to tell us is wrong, the way u put it i would see as a discrimination to ethnic minority. just because i would visit Northamerica i am not forced to talk to my friends English am I? i can still talk in any language to them i want, let it be italian,spanish, german, russian what so ever.
so i dont see any rule to talk english in worldchat.
furthermore there r enough ppl in pwi that dont even understand english or can talk in english.
so i say english is no MUST in world chat0 -

You can talk your own language in normal, squad, faction and all the other chats all you want.
World chat is basically something that goes to the entire server, and people talking in other languages on there can be very annoying.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Discrimination? No. I have absolutely no desire to go out and learn Russian, German, Polish, Spanish, Italian and w/e else seems to be prevailant other than my native language...just so that I can communicate with someone who can't speak it, when they decided to invade this game.
It's one thing if you decide to learn english as a second teir for communication. It's entirely different if I or anyone else born here in the US would have to learn all 170+ languages across the planet because you *******s are too lazy to look for something closer to home.Some people risk to employ me

that isnt the point. no one tells u to learn foreign languages. no one forces u to understand our languages.
but u say we must not talk in our language, and that is the point of discrimination.
i personally dont care if u can talk in englisch. in our land we got a lot of ethnic minorities, and no one tells them to stop talking in their language, they r allowed to talk in their language anywhere they want.0 -

Well, I don't live in an English speaking country myself and I find it rather annoying when people have long conversations on WC, even if it's in my own language.
When they're looking for people from their own country, they can try to do so in English. If they can't speak English at all, then it's rather surprising that they found their way in an English game after all.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

The point with enforcing English in WC mostly is to make sure that none of the rules are broken.
Also, there's the issue that GMs cannot offer help if they don't understand what you're saying.
And the GMs happen to be American, as is PWE. So yeah.

I could be sure that about only english in world chat, was in the tos or rules somewhere on old site before changed layout on forum etc.
cos i'd read it somewhere.
However it kinda makes sence.
World chat any1 should be able to understand, if it targets some people, go pm them.
Ask in wc in english to go to a chatroom, to speak your language in.

However, I've had several instances where I'll be the only person in party who doesn't speak a certain language and the other party members just keep on talking to each other in the other language...just seems rather rude. b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

While seeing people hold a conversation in a language other than English in WC may be annoying, nowhere in the terms of service/rules of conduct does it say 'English only", except for on the forums.0
