A post is most "facepalm-worthy" for me when I see that the posting person did not read all posts in thread (to which he/she is responding), and/or does not know how to read. I understand that nowadays reading and writing is dying, but please, if you wanna be considered as a worthy opponent in a discussion, learn2read. People who do not read and understand and still reply are just ... pitiful.
Thank you, Kritty. I value your defense a lot. Most people would just ignore that, but you stated facts and showed Aesthor things ain't necessarily the way he/she things they are. I'm shocked about your comment, and I have to say, I got your back:) Might not mean lots or anything to you, but I have to say that I like your attitude here on forums.b:thanks
@Aesthor: Those two did what they did. Different people will perceive it as a different thing. Funny or not, it can at least be interpreted in 2 different ways. From the two posts one could have concluded what Kritty did. The end.
Oh, ah, there are many things that are not right on the forums but I, or any other person does not bring out for w/e reasons... just fyi...
Lol I don't see where I didn't read the post I was replying to. You basically came in here and speculated that people were auto-disqualified based on a statistic that Frankie probably just estimated on. If anything that shows YOUR lack of respect for other applicants. I advise you to....take your own advice. And really, I don't give a rat's butt about whether you think I'm a "worthy opponent" (LOL), I just post what I think. If you want to make a deathmatch out of a mod app that's certainly not my business.
People can perceive things differently but the way you word things, such as OBVIOUSLY versus "SEEMS TO BE" can be the difference between making yourself look foolish and just putting forth your analysis. As an aspiring mod I would have thought you'd understand the importance in wording.
But to be honest I already thought your post was pitiful with all the math speculating you did in your post, before Kritty even replied. 65% means "a little over half." Pulling some auto-disqualification theory out of your rear from it made me lol indeed. And you think your attitude is all the great? What with all the "learn to read" comments, not only at me but at others who asked about the status of the applications. Your attitude, in short, sucks, and as you have shown, quite defensive. I'd hate to see anyone criticize you as a mod if you got your panties in a twist from me calling you ridiculous. If you're going to come here and call me rude and stupid because both your theories turned out to be wrong then that's all that needs to be said about how you'll handle a mod position. That said I still wouldn't be against Kritty being a mod because at least he manned up and admitted where he was wrong instead of post a suck-up to whoever complimented him and insult people who speak against him like you just did.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Guys, guys, calm down.
Nobody has been 'auto-disqualified' you can be sure at this. Frankie will look take a look at ALL the applications and will decide if it's 'yes' or 'no'. There's no such thing as auto-disqualification. Now everybody, lets calm down and wait for Frankie's response.0 -

why? because the last burning of the forums wasnt bad enough. if you're chosen, which you wont be, these forums can be assured n00dz of ugly people committing unnatural acts all over the place, and nobody wants to see that happen b:bye[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Heh, posting what one thinks is great, but discussing things and analyzing ain't bad either. Death - match? LOOOOL, no, just a reasonable discussion.

Obviously I don't use the word 'obvious' enough... Post confusion???????? Indeed, wording is often one of the main keys (if not THE key).

And what did we just go through about the importance of wording? If that's not what you wanted to say then don't word it that way. You are unfit to be mod. Nothing you say will change that. You will spend all your time replying to people's posts who are criticizing you, denying that you said this or that when it becomes obvious you messed up. And the fact of the matter is if you can't take criticism without getting riled up then you will not be a good mod. People will call you out on your mistakes, and whether you choose to admit it or defend yourself, telling people to "learn to read," saying they are not "worthy opponents," and making passive aggressive remarks about them is not impressive in the least.
So instead of trying to be mod, learn how to word what you want to say properly. If you already know how to do that, then what I said before still goes. The way you post is childish; there's a lot of redundancy and nonsense, and judging by the post above mine you lose track of what I'm referring to anyways so you're not even focused. Your flattery is disgusting, and the your way of round-about insulting people then denying it because you did not use the exact wording of a straight-up insult is equally so.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

If he wanted people to realize he was not one and the same, he probably shouldn't have put that part in, in all honesty. So the misconception is more because of something he did than something I interpreted. Also, don't lump buttercupcruella with me because of something I said. I interpreted his/her message as I thought it meant, not out of some unknown knowledge between us. Therefore, your generic lumping together of us both discounts your post as one of ignorance.
And I am also sorry that, as I am not a member of your server and/or guild (the same as the other 6/7ths of the servers), I did not get the joke by not realizing that they were two different people. If they want to be differentiated, they should post with less seeming identicality.
Honestly though, anyone lacking the originality to type out their own post and put it up for consideration was probably eliminated all the same. Ijs...
Mm I doubt Payup wanted to be seriously considered a mod. I'm quite surprised his post wasn't removed, as anyone who read both posts and had enough memory span to remember both would have known they were the same post. Neither do I think he cared much about being differentiated from Kiyoshi. Kiyo, however, was not part of the prank; they were independent acts from both parties.
Also I did not "lump" you and butterface together. It was my fault for not specifying for what reason I thought she was unfit for mod, though I did in a later post. I've made my share of ignorant posts but I am quite convinced butter will not make a good mod for separate reasons from you. I am at least consoled by your willingness to stand up for your own mistakes instead of the immature replies we seem to be getting from the other one....[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

The last forum I moderated for over a year had close to 100k users at the time and close to 10m posts with at least 2k users online at one time... It was even in the top 100 Big Boards list at one time. Not sure if it still is though.
I know when to let things go, I know when to give warnings and I know when to merge, close or move. I also spent close to $1000 in that year holding contests and giving away prizes and **** like that. lol
I would absolutely refuse it here though. I want no part of it. b:chuckle

It depends on the color settings on an individual's computer, as well as the graphics card and monitor. For example on my laptop I can read the blue text from PMs in-game just fine, but on my desktop, which has a much more advanced graphics card and better saturation, it is so intense that it hurts my eyes if I look at it too long.
Personally I just highlight people's text if I can't read it (on the forums) so I don't see what color you post in if it's illegible. Common sense implies that lighter and/or brighter colors read better on a dark forum background, if you care enough to change it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'm on a 30" monitor at 2560x1600 and my viewing distance is about 2.5-3 feet.
I have to physically sit forward and concentrate to read this.
hint: The only reason I actually read this post was because I saw Aesthor's reply to your post, which prompted me to actually move forward and attempt to read it.
On a laptop, or on a smaller monitor, I'd probably be viewing at a much closer distance, so it might be readable... but on my monitor reading your text is an eye-strain, and instead of doing what she does and highlights the text, I just skip your posts and read the next ones.
The text size on my monitor is roughly equivalent to that of a paperbound novel. I'm reading it farther than arm's length away when I'm moved forward to read your text specifically. Try reading a normal black/white contrasted novel sitting on the other side of your desk... that's enough eye-strain... imagine purple text on a black background. That's what you wish me to read. Instead, I almost always ignore anything you have to say. Enjoy!I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -

Hopefully Frankie will post a decision soon, Fuzzy is interested to see who it be. It was certainly interesting to read all the applications and follow this particular thread over the last number of weeks.
It's just too bad there is so much downpour on certain applicants in here. It seems to Fuzzy that some would say a couple of applicants have no business being a moderator based on the opinions they hold about certain topics. Seems a shame that even needs to be thought about. Fuzzy fails to see the connection between ones opinion on a subject and the ability to mod a forum. Stating how you feel on an in-game issue such as DQ prices, or TT changes, or TW pay or anything of the sort does not, at least to Fuzzy, reflect on ones ability to moderate. (Nor does the color one chooses to post with)
However, me digress for now.
Fuzzy just happy to see many people applied which shows there are still those out there who have the well being of the community as a whole at heart.
Gratz to whomever may be chosen.

Now, this is a post that I appreciate and take into consideration, 'cause for once some1 gave me a decent reason for why purple is hard to read on here. It was done professionally, without rudeness (sure, the last sentence might be offensive, but I take it as a piece of advice, nothing else). Thank you.Michael_Dark - Lost City wrote: »I'm on a 30" monitor at 2560x1600 and my viewing distance is about 2.5-3 feet.

And yet another, straight answer. I'm shocked. People actually can be reasonable in here.
Personally, most of the times I'm here I use a laptop, sit rather close (not with my nose in my screen, but by the desk, normally), and have the lights turned on when it's dark outside. Those factors make it ... easy? for me to read my purple. People I know irl do the same, but thanks for bringing forward different perspectives.
I, too, highlight text that I cannot read easily, but it's only with black or maybe 2 others...
Purple is a cool color to me... Guess I'll use it somewhere else...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Surely there is the possibility that there won't be anyone chosen from these application boards? Frankie seems to realize that more mods are needed but hopefully the field is wide open and those chosen are the best for the job. Not just the ones who posted their interest here.
I state the obvious here to hopefully avoid the same occurance that happened last time. The last thing we need here is another two weeks of childish rantings, personal insults to mods, statements of the game being dead etc. because their "favorites" were not chosen.
Whomever is chosen and whenever they are picked I sincerely hope that folks will give them a chance whether or not they actually know them well. I think we learned that a high post count is absolutely no guarantee that a person is qualified or best suited to this position.0 -

This color is much more reasonable. And I only highlight black text because it's SUPPOSED to be hidden, and that's only if I care what it says. People who choose to post in dark colors on dark backgrounds just get skipped, for the same reasons as Michael said.Lynneya - Sanctuary wrote: »Surely there is the possibility that there won't be anyone chosen from these application boards?
