Individually? Coins or shabby shards. xP

    Actual usable item? Fly mount.

I think it's unfair to count the items that you actually NEED in game (ie: fly mounts, coins, armor, etc.)

With that being said, I think the absolute most used item (and most useful) is the pickaxe. Considering how many people sell mats in archosaur, and how many mats sold per person (most merchant players are selling 100+ of their mats) which would make the pickaxe extremely used by said player. Now take that players mat count and add that by the other players who collect and sell mounts. then consider the players who dig mounts for themselves (not to sell per se, but to actually use).

    Yup, I'm going with pickaxe.

You need a Pickaxe, it's is require by a quest to complete.

    Yes.

You can drop it. You can pick it up. You can give it to someone or use it to buy something from an NPC.

It is most definitely an item.

Debatable. One might argue it is merely a means to get other items. But oh wells.

But that quest is optional in terms of advancing your character as evidenced by the MANY players who get to their 90s and beyond without bothering with manufacturing skills (or purchase the books, thus invalidating the quest).

Also, I cast my vote for coins.

    How is that debatable?

It can be picked up, it can drop, it can be traded it can be discarded. The only exception is that it can't be NPC'd, but you can use it to purchase things from NPCs with it.

In real life, is coin not an item?

the items in which that say 'coin' on the ground are physical representation of an item we cannot see or touch. we can trade or discard them, sure, but we can never see them as an item with a description in our inventory, they just exist there... not doing much else.

charms, packs, etc, you can see and touch them; and use them in a consumable matter. coins are always there, never run out, always refreshing. 'useable items' to me are 'consumables' otherwise we'd see stupid arguments of 'weapons and armor' being 'most used.'

back on topic, id say, most used item = tokens

It has no entry in pwdb, can be teleported across the map, has no mail delay, doesnt go in your inventory...

I wouldnt call it an item.

    Hmm...

If "used" means being used for its intended purpose, then any item that gives you a speed boost is in use whenever you are moving on land. But even that can't compare with fashion, since fashion is in use whenever you are visible and not in Tiger/Fox form.

So I'd say fashion is used for its intended purpose more often than any other item.

However, if "used" means "consumed", then I'm going with Tokens. Pretty much every useful consumable item can be made out of Tokens.

This is a tricky question because it depends what you define as am "item". Are coins an item, if they are then that is the most used because every player of just about every lvl 5+ uses them but if not then what is it? If someone said fly mount was most used would they have to pick only one or would they all count, same goes for weapons and armor because every player uses those...

Coin(s) be classified as an item....
    >.>
    # In pencil and paper games and computer and video games, an item is an object within the game world that can be collected by a player- or, occasionally, a non-player character. These items are sometimes called "pick-ups".

Love the way you are making the description fit your argument.

Coins have a graphical representation that can be dropped and picked up. That is an item. The same goes for ammo, power-ups, health packs in FPS games. Just because you can't necessarily go into your inventory and look at them or separate them individually does not mean they are not items.

The reason you can't mouse over coins individually is because they have a space that is unique for them. Seriously....

If I pick up a $20 dollar bill and then deposit it in my bank, I can't look at it individually either... nor would it use any significant space... OMG I found a $20 bill.... but my lighter and my keys and my wallet are taking up all my inventory slots. Riiiiight. *sigh*
