i suggest a minimum lvl requirement of 80 for suggestion box usage
or minimum 100 posts

or a warning:

"see all the posts about same sex marriage? yes, please dont make another one, thanks"

    Dude. It took me a year to hit 80. Yeah, maybe I just suck at the game but I used it for that long and could have suggestions long before that that would be 'noobish' since that's what it sounds like you're getting at. Perhaps 100 post minimum, but that would probably just get people to spam forums just to be able to do it. Honestly, anyone has the right to their opinions and I think nothing about the suggestion forum should change whatsoever. I'm not saying its not annoying to see repeat threads over and over again as well as necros. You as a player can just ignore it if you don't like it, and it should be the GM/CMs that worry about it. If they want to change something to make it easier on themselves then that's their choice. Perhaps they could put a little tag on threads that are older with a little 'O' or something just to give an idea, but new people still aren't going to know what it means. Even if you put giant 'NECRO' tag on it they won't get it because they won't know what it means. (I'm thinking from my own perspective as someone come from never playing another MMO in my life before this one or being part of any forum community.) You'd still get people posting on old threads and making new repeats. Its basically something that the mods just need to deal with and that we need to either accept or ignore.

    1) Why name and shame?

    2) Forums are all about freedom of expression (as long as it does not break rules). If you limit the access or possibility of participation to some parts, you will only bring vandals in... And you cannot prevent anything once the one gets to lv 80. So your measure has its limits.
    Lv 80 is quite the high benchmark, not that realistic even if all you want to do is to want to bring possible improvements to the game (you don't need to be a high lv char to see aesthetic problems in the UI and such, and propose a solution regarding that around here, do you?)

    3) Notices and warnings will not work, sadly. It will only give an impression of complete oppression from the mods and GMs, like if they had not enough stuff to do already (and I do guess some people do not have them in their hearts -no, not me, I do appreciate them-).

    4) Endless debates full of trolling and counter-trolling, but also flaming are bound to be there for a while more. I even tried to calm people in one thread, to no avail. I guess I won't care anymore about it. At least I tried, eh?

    I don't know why stickies on top of threads should be necessary. People don't follow forum rules, yet there is a full thread about them.

    Besides even if mods and GMs endlessly close threads with a 'Please don't necro, create a new thread instead' (I think they are quite tired doing it), people here are sadly prone to not listen. I don't know how well your idea would fare. But I am not very optimistic about it.

    What about just making some kind of automatic closure. Like some program that automatically locks threads over a certain time being unused so Necro is impossible? I don't know how possible it would be to make something like that, but rather than mods having to go close rezzed necro threads, have it done automatically at the time it would be considered necro. b:surrender

    Or else they could hire someone specifically to look through every single thread to spot possible necros to close them before someone brings them back to life. If not that, and if the mods aren't complaining, then we players shouldn't care, should we? b:shutup We can just leave it up to the people who it really affects.     I think that new threads should have to be approved before being shown in the suggestion box. I realize the mods have a lot to do as it is, but it'll save us from getting tooons of repeats 24/7. That, or, threads that are posted are posted and automatically closed, although this would prevent other people from adding on to good ideas.

    Ingame level requirement? No. Post count requirement? Wouldn't really solve anything. Some people don't think at all regardless of their post count. We all know a certain BM who has proved that time and again. Some type of warning is best.

    @Shiv We need a program like that in this forum, and a program that auto-locks all these repeated threads -.-

    Problem with that, I think making a necro-blocking program would be easier to make than a repeat blocking one. It would need to be able to discern between the threads, including ones that are worded differently, and in turn could block threads accidentally that weren't intended whatsoever to be a repeat but the computer system took keywords, for instance, and misjudged it. Leaving something like that up to a computer just isn't a good idea. A time-stamp based system would be far more reliable in general. Our technology may be smart, but its not perfect.

    I wouldn't think to replace the mods or anything. It would just be something to help out the community as a whole and one more little annoyance to help take away from their jobs. Really there's no reason to keep a thread open past the point that if someone's going to comment on it it's going to be closed anyway. b:surrender

    Yeah, like I said, I suck. Not only that but I took months breaks at a time.. Anyway, point being, I knew this game well enough for over a year before I even hit 30. Truth be told. I hit 30 around year 1 anniversary. Though I played MY version for a while before coming here so I knew the game itself even longer. But yeah, I just had a hard time getting up there as this was my first game like that ever. And after 30 it was mostly just dailies and BH, so there's why it took so much longer.     Actually,I agree on the minimum post count thing but no the levels.

    Levels is not really a clear indicator since there is 234519235625891750 ways to level up quickly now.

    Post count would be more reliable since you can't just spam on threads so easily.

    Also,auto-lock threads over a certain time limit sounds good too

    I don't know about deleting. Some things are nice to go back and look at and they may cover things that people need to know, even if they're something that isn't enough to be stickied. And for all the poor trolls and post-counters out there, they'd lose part of their legitimacy in saying 'use search' because some things may have been deleted. b:chuckle But yeah, I'm up for keeping the threads readable, just after so long being auto-locked. Who doesn't want to reminisce about the past sometimes anyway? Going back to look at threads complaining about gold prices reaching 200k. b:laugh Oh, how far we've come.
