Will Perfect World Survive the winter?

aika has been launched
and calling one or 2 guys spamming WC isnt wat i would call active, let me ask u this....how many ppl in ur guild are there usually?
in most guilds its a usual low number of 32 or less( i hae spies to confirm) the daily report of ppl leaving game or some1 quiting is going, yes i will agree the game is adective to some extent, but maybe its JUST the nice graphics and flashy clothes that keep ppl in awe,
seing how fast ppl are hittin lv 100
lets see wat content there is for these ppl
Nirvana, TT and how many times can u run TT b4 ur completely sick of it, nirvana is short and glitch requiring MANY runs to get 100 crystals which require TT99 gold which needs a gold mats which are expensive or leaving it to be easily acquired by cash shoppers
the game is boring
log on→bh→tt→event→tt→event→log off
thats every lv 100's day
and to some even extends to ppl lv 80+
wat else is there, COA, horse race, FC, DT
thats it[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Tempest FTWb:bye0 -
My bad, i do sometimes forget open beta is as good as officially released nowadays (is PW officially launched btw?) and my argument isn't about the quality of the game per se. It could be argued few others game offer little more content, and many much less. The point about server depopulation should take into acount many variables such as seasonal activity and retention rates for players who will come back after having tried other games. The game is well within playable limits as far as finding people for squads goes even if classes are terribly unbalanced. Now, PvP involves different factors but with oportunity being the biggest factor (as most well geared high levels can one-two shot each other) is no wonder many aren't as enthusiastic about it. MMOs do have a life cycle, i'm just not convinced we are at the end of ours. And once again, i will require hard evidence. Until servers are merged there's no reason to actually believe the game will be shutting down in a 5-6 month period.0

Let's see; Asian grinder themepark with manga style animation, detailed char customization, opportunity based non-twitch PvP... They were going for the same audience PW has been succesful attracting... Those numbers you give were never proven and i would dare you to post such statements in MMORPG.com forums. The sole fact that someone would defend a company second only to SOE in MMO infamy amazes me. Claimed population numbers are not the bottomline, but quarterly earnings are. I bet PWE blows even Blizzard out of the water in bang for your buck. And number of servers, independent of the number of new players, do indicate a higher overhead which means one way or the other PW is turning a profit. How many p2ps do you think can make that claim?
As, for your being here, go back to WOW
ok, before PWI was here subscriptions numbers in 2008 (this is for 200k+ subscriptions)
how are these numbers in 2010?
subscription numbers for mmo (1mil+ subscriptions)
subscription numbers for mmo (150k+ subscriptions)
numbers of concurrent players isnt far from that, just more korean games and some others that you probably never heard of it. you can argue with numbers all day long, do you know where PW is? 50th place or something. did you ever tried to build a PW server? see how many numbers of players can reach till no login limit? then multiply that number with 7 (number of pwi servers). not to mention that archosaur and raging tide are like dead plus some others. do you have a pw china account? i do have, i can take ss from all servers, all are almost empty. see how many facebook accounts were made just to get to that limit?
and if you care to read it wasnt wow, care to read kiddo?0 -

Ok, well look at this... Now, tell me which of these two companies would appear to be doing better.... now guess who they are.

Dude, it is apparently you that can't read. I asked for evidence the company was doing bad, which obviously you believe market share to be the indicator of, even if i was to believe your numbers for PW to which you give no source, you've prove nothing. PW might be number 3,000 of all MMOs in population for all i care, AS LONG AS IT'S MAKING A PROFIT. You don't care for hard evidence. No, i've never attempted to open a private server nor a PW China account. Now, let's say you're right for a minute and that PW China is close to shutting down and servers in North America are mostly half empty. We would be getting a notice that we shouldn't expect any more updates and server merges in what? 2-3 months. Notice is not PWI that's folding, just PW. Because this game has attracted large numbers of heavy cash shoppers they simply won't vanish their accounts, and will try persuasion to get this people to move to their other games. With the number of people currently commited to the game that won't just leave 1 or 2 servers can be kept running at a profit (not just limping along, but bringing in good cash). That's 1-2 years. That's the time i need to accomplish what i want with my char. I went to visit the RT and Archo forums and couldn't find a single thread qqing about servers being empty. Not one. Don't you think i would find some warning or complaint if the servers really were ghost towns? My server still does seem to have a healthy population. And what rumours i have heard from China is the game continues to be adjusted to fight botting and that TW payments will now be done in mirages instead of coins. Both are adjustments a company shutting a game within months would not bother with.
YOU'RE A LIAR. You have nothing to back up this game shutting down in the next 5-6 months. Far from it, i think before they do pull the plug they will try a new expansion and we may even get a new server in the process. We've all got plenty of time to do what we want with our chars. And i'm not sorry i don't care about whatever game you come from or will be going to, i'll just be glad to see you and your fail attitude gone. b:bye0 -

lol, where the hell did i said that pwi is shutting down? care to read a little? i said that overall pw population isnt that big and never aimed to steal a big part of other games (a**n for example) players like you said a few pages behind. in fact i only know a single mmo that was shut down. where did you get the idea that i said pw will shut down anyway? just that pwi isnt that big to compare itself with big mmos on the marked, there are some chinese mmos (f2p) that has more concurrent players than pw will ever get as registered. the point is again, you are comparing pwi with much bigger games
Well, if you're responding to a challenge to prove the game is in trouble, i would assume that to be your position. About the NcSoft game i brought it up because it was once claimed it would bury PW because it appealed to the same audience, which i think is not a contested point, and proved a good example of how this game could survive the big launches of other games, which was a part of the OP's argument about how this game would not survive the winter.
I never made a claim about the game being wildly succesful in terms of population, only about it being on financially sound terms, something which, i'll repeat, many of the big p2ps have not been able to achieve whatever numbers of players they may attract. From a gamer's point of view, i do believe this makes PW attractive if you want to invest your time on a long term project.0 -
I think that PWI will survive more as this winter...even if some players ( including me ) will find some other mmorpg. To compare PWI from a year..ago to today PWI isn't possible, since today PW is almost unplayble and it get whorst every month, and it isn't any top mmorpg anymore. New players are rare in PWI.
I think PWI still have enough addicted hardcore cash shopers....which will hang out in PWI for a year or two till servers won't get to empty.0 -
Although those numbers of active subscriptions are interesting to look at, you may have forgotten one big thing that I haven't seen in PWI. Bots and coin sellers. You log into some of those games and the first thing your chat fill up with are advertisements in plain view of the major towns of websites to buy in-game coin, power-leveling services, or rare/powerful items using real cash. I haven't been active on PWI myself, and have tried some of the other games out there, but the reality of the fact is that although the towns may not be crowded, at least they're not crowded with ad-bots. Would be a shame if 100k subscriptions are actually a couple of farming companies with multi-clienting tools and are always on farming and botting away, ne?
As far as the OP questioning the durability of this game, I'm sure it will survive. Admit it, no matter how good a title seems, there's always a flaw in it here or there. Whether it be bad GMs, bots, account hacking, glitches, bugs, etc....there's always going to be something about it someone is going to find and complain about. I played a certain NCSoft title for a few years and in the end, I couldn't fathom paying monthly to stand around town LFG to do something for hours and then getting to that one cool hunting spot that you set up the perfect group for only to find 1 Chinese guy controlling 8 toons killing everything in the joint. Great game, polished graphics, smooth skills, but....non-stop bots and no instances??? I'm so glad that game was open PvP, learned some colorful Chinese words from it too.0 -
most of them in the top are. you you search better you can find pw somewhere
you show me some numbers. im making profit, bill gates is making profit too... whats the difference between us?! many are making profit just at different scale
Apparently you don't even understand what the numbers mean.
PWE isn't a tiny little company. They have nearly 3k employees. Blizzard including Activision has slighly over 7k employees. Who is doing better financially?
So the company that is doing better financially is worse off than the company that is not.
All the players in the world doesn't matter, who is doing their job more successfully at this point? hint: it's not Blizzard.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -

I've also thought that game would dump on PWI. A lot of players quit pwi for it and at that point I wasn't playing pwi so I assumed the game was hanging by a thread.I don't care how old or young you are, how small your **** is, how much of a nerd irl you are or how depressed you are that you never will get laid. There is no reason to act like an A-hole to everyone on an mmorpg. Its a shame that I have to take time out of my day to tell people "stop being an A-hole". So I end with this, if your acting like an A-hole, and some one tells you your being an A-hole chances are your being an A-hole.0 -
seems ALOT of people mis read wat i said, i never said that PWI is shutting down, i said will it make it past the winter, as in being as popular, or successful in business due to the leaving players who seek better mmorpgs, and yes the game and servers ARE DEAD, let me ask teh community, on a regular basis how often do U search for a better mmorpg to spend ur time and money on, most of my time i am checking new games and trailers, cuz there is nothing left to do in PWI, TT, FC, RB( glitched), COA, Horse race, DT and nirvana thats ALL it has tell me if that is taught out? they have to keep adding in pieces and parts here and there in tempt to keep us occupied such as trophy mode, warsong which imo is a waste of time, now the bring some Jungle ruins, pwi is sensing that they are loosing the appeal of players so are tryin frantically to keep them intruigued.
but with new games that have better content, more to do, taught out well, will pwi survive?]
and i can concur AIka isnt in beta, i was on beta it live atm they just failed to remove that Beta thing same as HOTK which is live but says Beta0 -

I did try that game. Queues were just ridiculous on the first days (you literally had to leave you comp logged in 24/7) and the crowd was some of the worst i've seen. Leet e-sport geeks, *** fanboys and massive numbers of teenage girls... Who were most likely 40 year old males but weren't any less obnoxious for it. Once queues got under control and you could actually log on it was impossible to hold anything resembling a conversation because of RMT spammers. Also there were so much bots it almost felt like it was a Rise of the Machines MMO... Seriously, i thought about cool it would have sounded if someone told me as a child i would be fighting bots as an adult, the reality of it however...
It's long been rumoured that NcSoft is actually in on the RMT and getting a cut, and i saw nothing to convince me otherwise. The only really fun part was watching so many established guilds from other MMOs go down in flames as they tried to compete with one another.
Nowadays i think i'm settled here for good, my account has survived long periods of inactivity and it's comforting to know whatever i manage to accomplish in this game i'll likely get to keep for a long time to come.0 -
It will be fine. you are talking about two different markets of games bro. This is free to play, pay to win. The people who like it, which clearly there is alot, will continue to play. Most of the new games that are coming out are pay to play play to win. Also forsaken world is just a reskin of PWI without flying, just what i heard tho.
EDIT: Just read the rest of the convos. Astarstarstar is doing fine. It has held its own market and with recent server merges there is new life in the games concepts. I play from time to time and i find the pvp completely refreshing. It may be far thrown off from its beginning days as "w0w KILLUH" but its still going strong.Currently playing : |||| Waiting for:

This game is unbeatable in many aspects. The F2P aspect with the cash shop economy continues to roll in money and dynamic markets. Yes this game has some balancing issues but in the end I still see charcters from every class. Yes dailies get monotonous but they are more like social events than hard gaming. yes people will leave but there will always be some who join and some who return. I have lost good friends to other games and the general "worsening" of pwi, but I have made new ones. Yes people now hit lvl 100 fast, but now they just level more characters. I'd have to make one suggestion for perfect world though, we need a shot in the arm with something really interesting. The last good update in my opinion was the genies one.and bro...fyi this isn't a story.
All people are idiodic but some are more idiotic than others.0 -
u gave liek 1 positive side of the game and sevral negatives also, most *new* players are higher lv ppl's lat in most cases, there arent many new gamers in pwi, just recycled characters and accounts, and that wat pwi lives on, they always need something to hold the ppls attention because they realize their last *big* idea is loosing appeal[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Tempest FTWb:bye0

How many of these games have an open map as large as PW? I think a lot of things are outdated about PW, but it has far more of a lifespan than most of the other games out there that I've 'tried'.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
Like any good business, going international is a great way to secure a place in the market. Having a good game that combines the best attributes of other games, is free to play, and has a high quality graphics really helps PWI have staying power. Lord of the Rings? Sounds like another Conan. You never heard of Conan? I'm not suprised.0

I loled at this... I even see in some forums of a P2P game where people QQ even more where you get cursed for killing because too many people killing lowbies in PVP where it was a PVPVE game... It turned around. I played some F2Ps and it was utter garbage.... There are way worse games than this one.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

pwi has a large map? its so damn tiny compared to many games. if you play a**n you shoudl know that it has far better maps/instances/whatever just that ppl quit coz they get ganked a lot and cant farm anything while in pw you can be on pvp server can can be 100 with best items and dont have to pvp at allGHealz - Archosaur wrote: »best because of the graphics, character customization and fashion0 -

If they did? PWE does have 3k employees. You seem to think PWI is this small rinky-dink company when they're really not. Since you're clueless about that, I have trouble taking whatever else you have to say seriously. No I never left. I thought the graphics weren't all that special and I didn't want to pay a subscription fee. So you're saying a**n is so much better why?
