Well yeah. I use it for Earthflame, Holy Path and Second Wind, all of which aren't exactly necessary, but are nice to have. With the kind of weird stuff that happen in BH, extra self preservation methods are always welcome for me. And they're cheap to maintain...somewhat.
Nope, my genies are still around my chars. They did not serve as merchandise (shame on you if you used them as slaves to trade) and I just leave them around as ummm, mascots?

I know, more skills and an overall better chance of survival on the battlefield, but I am doing okay already, so I do not need to repair what is not broken. And so, no food for the munchkin.

My genies are mostly dead and recycled in ways more than one. And almost my entire faction perpetrates this shameless act of exploitation, some preferring to make them food and some to 'pimp the girls'. We be damned.

That aside, yeah... I'm a fan of Ace Attorney series too!

First thing you can use spirit or exp stones for genies to lvl them up as well followed by useing your exp (which is the worst thing to do to lvl a genie).

Second thing they are use to Aid you in fights ether in PvP or PvE. (But it counts by what skills you put on it since most of the genie skills are no good).

There are two words I want to say about genies: Ewwwww munchkins.

Jokes aside, I never used them sinks of exp, spirit or chi stones, myself. Equips are a plain luxury, like if you bought a Rolex or a Louis Vuitton bag at your local snob store.
And those lucky points, urgh... are quite a cruel system. Should your pixie... ahem... fairy... ahem... genie should be low on them, they are deemed 'lame' and are soon offered as a sacrifice to the altar.

    And thus this happens:

Lil' munchkin: The altar? Are we getting married, Master? Wheee, this is the best day of my life!

You: Not this altar dummy, you are going to become a cube of experience to feed to another genie, because you were cursed by Lady Luck. Curse her for your inevitable fate!

Lil' Munchkin: Oh, no Master, why did I do to you, this is too cruel ! Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

    *R.I.P. Lil' Munchkin*

P.S.: The munchkin window ticks me off, even on minimized mode. So I put it far, in a place where I cannot be blocked on the view. The PWI's UI is so crowded already.

You're wasting a valuable asset. it's not just the ability to move at 15 meters per second for about 6 seconds which is good.
    - its the instant heal which can save your life,
    - OR... its the ability to lure monsters so you can deal with one at a time
    - OR its the ability to increase damage for ALL players attacking the monster by 20% for over 10 seconds
    - OR the ability to remove negative status from yourself
    - OR the ability to stun/sleep the enemy
    - OR the ability to dramatically increase your defence
    - OR the ability to increase your own chi
    - OR the ability to fly faster...
Need I go on? Because I could.

....Well, normally they're not effective in your early levels. I only started discovering how useful a Genie is at level 60. Some people even later. They're good in TW and PvP for healing skills if no cleric is around to keep track of your HP which normally happens and Holy Path is a great skill that gives you the ability to run faster. Also, some people use it for attacks too and find it helpful.

From what I've seen, Genies don't gain EXP from the EXP your character acquires.

Quote Source: Kantorek (GM) Thread here

I don't believe this system has changed yet.

It has been changed - I remember my genie leveled several times from either CS or FF.
PWI will continue - in one way or the other. I'm just glad I found a balanced server now that I enjoy - naming is illegal, but PM's are welcome.

Only reason I log in still is also just to say hi to friends.

A genie gains XP equal to 10% of your exp. You dont loose that 10%
    For example:
You do CS without a genie and gain 170k
next day you do CS again and you have a genie.
you will gain 170k and your genie will gain 17k

a genie needs 40% of the exp you need to level
if you want your genie to be the same lvl with you then you should put exp using your exp/exp cubes/spirit

but you dont really need a genie that is the same lvl with you
regarding the lucky points, sure, the more the better but again, a genie is not useless if it's not the 100/100 genie....

I use my genie constantly, mainly for pve (and yes pvp too).

It 's a life saver in cube: 100 sec stand or some of those harder mobs you need to kill (heal skills, like Second Wind and Tree of Protection, and damage immune skill Absolute Domain) dragon gate ex (Holy Path!). And - oh oops - PVP rooms 14 and 34, some good genie usage can mean the difference between succeeding or failing.

For Rebirth: you re ... eh ... not well in the head if you don't bring a genie with some good GV skills there... atleast if you plan on completing Rebirth Delta one day for example. Absolute Domain and Earthquake are a must to save your DDs and clerics asses, Alpha Male for the Barb's and BM's genies, so they can take away some pain from the DDs, and i m sure there's many more.

FCC: i can't count how many times Absolute Domain saved me there. Or the barb/BM having alpha male saving me... And offcourse Extreme Poison to amp the bosses, so they die a bit quicker.

Twilight Temple & other bosses: Faith to remove stuns, mana drain, sleep, ... Absolute Domain so Armageddon doesn't 1-shot you... Earthquake or Lightning Chaser to interrupt Wurlord or Belial's channeling...

Untill lvl 60 or something i used Second Wind (heal) and Holy Path (fast running as a lvl -30 is awsome if you dont have a mount or aviation) for day to day use. From lvl 60 on i started studying all skills, to make me a perfect genie.

And in case you are on a PvP server, or happen to do TW once in a while, use you're genie to compensate your flaws or to maximise your strengths.

A genie is 4+ extra skills you have extra, or if you have several genies for different occasions, even more. In some situations, not knowing how to use your genie makes you kindof a noob, and if given the choice, people will rather choose someone who does know how to use their genie to Rebirth or TW.

From lvl 90+ you can get 7x free perfect stones/day. And if you can spend money on pots, i m sure you can also buy some stones at lower lvl. The healpower of some genie skills is way bigger than many pots, and are cheaper too. (on Lost City Perfect Stones are 800-1000 coin each and gives your genie 720 stamina/stone). To give you and idea: 1x Second Wind lvl 10 = 320 stamina gor 800+ hp heal. 1x Tree of Protection is 700 stamina for 20% of your max hp every 3 seconds for 6 seconds duration. Your genies Attribute points can increase the heal power.

To study the genie skills i advice ecatomb

i never bought chi so far :)

As for PW games, they are awesome. You should PM me for that, if you will.
Oh and I have to thank you since I decided to put a signature, finally.

Huh? xDD Thank me for a sig? o.o;; Am I missing something here? b:chuckle

I thought the Genie gains additional EXP to the one the character earns without taking the percentage out of the character's own EXP? b:surprised

As a money sink, I guess. I might actually get mine some day, though --- my original impression was that the only way to level them was by sending them your own experience or spirit, and there's no way I would ever do that for the little return they provide. However, they DO seem to level without penalizing my own experience... so I can just tag one along without ever using it or investing anything, but without getting penalized either.
Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng

Yep, leveling without you feeding them. That said it was not like that in its early phase (when they were introduced), and 10% is quite little.

Btw, the most annoying thing is that when you feed them, they only absorb one part of the initial exp.
What do they do with the rest, they **** it?

To sum it up, you either make her accompany you or you feed her with exp, cubes or spirit. She only absorbs a chunk of what you give her. Every ten levels, come the dreaded lucky points. Bless or curse Lady Luck for your results.
And if you are unlucky, won't you QQ?
And trolls here wonder why I hate munchkins.

Genies are a waste??? have you played the game without the age of spirits update? you rapidly start missing your winged lil friend. especially if you are a class with no lure ability or fast escape from certain death.

If you actually take the time to read every skill, then you would slap yourself for doubting their relevance.

You must first have a complete understanding of your classes abilities & limits before choosing a genie & skill set. otherwise your genie is a waste & most likely your character as well.
