This is NOT meant as a flame post/thread.

I've just been wondering, what is actually in store for Perfect World? For the past few weeks, patch notes have consisted of one- or two-liners saying "minor bug fixes" or "fixes for minor glitches" or "fixes for graphics glitch on new boutique items," etc. Is that because nothing else is being worked on, or is something large being worked on bit by bit so that no information about it can be released yet?

Also, why hasn't the patch info on the main site been updated?

Like I said, I'm just wondering. This is getting a little ridiculous. The devs (wherever they may be based) are getting PAID for this work, yet less is being churned out than free servers I'd played in the past where devs were 100% volunteers, developing unique content for a game they don't get paid to work on. And it wasn't ****ty content either.

Also, text fixes and such really can't be all that's done in a week's worth of time...

So, I'm just wondering, is there anything in the works? Or are we just to expect the level of development for PW to be this.. sad? What do you guys think?

    ^^^this

the only thing that's been released that's good is genies and the new race in the...5-6 years or something like that in which PW has existed, any new dungeons that come out are always the same basic design just like all the other dungeons,
really this game should just be called "Perfect Item Mall World".

Well, this game, PWI, has only been out for 1.5 years now.

    @OP: I think they're finishing the expansion.

Frankly I find the post of the admin less then informative..

minor fixes to this or that..
First thing that pops up: What is this and that fix?
Hence I don't even bother reporting bugs even if I see 1.

I wonder if the real people that do the fixing (in China I assume) make a better effort at reporting things back to the community.

Also with the majority of games I played any real info is always available at the creators home-base first, aka best source of info, before the game is localized to subsidiaries like we have here.
I speak for myself. My opinions are my own.
Assuming I speak for others is therefor void.

PW-CN Updates (Google translated for your convenience)

What happens there will one day happen here. How people read about Nirvanna and new Lunarglade well before it was patched/updated here. I didn't believe the Google-translated "3 mil coins to open Lunarglade in squad mode" until it actually got updated here and actually did indeed cost 3 mil.

there probably is something going on in the back ground, you never know how wide 'minor bug fixes' scopes in what it fixes either. quite frankly, we dont have many problems or major glitches right now so what do you expect? new game shaking content every week?

find something else to complain about, por favor.

Yes their two new games. Not knowing how big their Dev team is, Perfect World as a game might be on the back burner for them since I doudt its their priority anymore.

I think that for those of us who got acquainted with PW through this version of the game the upgrade rate has in fact been remarkable. Three expansions and numerous upgrades which implemented important features. This is not the same game i started playing a little after release. I think we should rather enjoy this quiet season, and the non CS event many have been asking for, as IMO not all change has been for the best (leveling pace, CS balance). Spring should bring more sales and news of content being added.

The reason for the simple bug fixes and lack of content these past few updates is because of a new update on the horizon.

Stay tuned and we'll be giving you guys a preview soon. ;)

    Sounds nom-able.

On another related note more directed towards the OP, you do need to remember that there are other games being worked on (I find it hard to believe that all devs working on PWI would not be working on one of the other games at least, but hey, I don't know how those people work) and there's still an expansion to finish.

    TB 79 skills, anybody?

Have a little bit of patience and I'm sure something will come along soon.

... Least I do hope so.

The following is my own personal opinions, so take it with a grain of salt, or the whole salt shaker. b:pleased

PWI has had multiple expansions since the 2008 launch. The latest expansion with the Tideborn is just now 2 months old and players are still figuring out things about the classes and playing the game with the new gameplay angles. b:pleased

New content is constantly being added. New content is also coming for future releases. Announcements will come in due time, which is up to PMs and marketing.

    Some game dev background info...

It would be very "anti-player" and "anti-game playing experience" for PWE to post every single bug that gets fixed and every bit of text that gets fixed. Plus PWE staff would be spending time cataloging, writing, formatting, editing, and prepping the data to publish it for the web. Imagine writing a full video game strategy guide like you see in the store and releasing it every week or two weeks. Those guides take many months to write and publish, or over a year depending on how in-depth it is.

All that employee power, time, and money can be better spent working on keeping the game going, serving our players, creating content, testing, writing content, and making sure server maintenances run less then 2 hours.

If the hundreds of fixes were itemized it would give away stories or events that some players may not have done yet. Marketing, management, devs/designers in China, and more have their say on what can and can't be shared publicly.

PWE is ramping up and sharing some very cool stuff with our players through our Blog, our Podcasts, forthcoming Community Events and Contests, and more things that are in the works for this and future years.

We are also improving and expanding our service for our players in many areas. One that I'm happy about is that we recently made it where Tech Support works 7 days a week 10a-7p California Time, instead of solely just Monday-Friday.

I can understand some of your concerns, but PWE is doing crazy good things for our players. Thank you all for your understanding, you all ROCK! b:victoryb:laugh

    Sur le gasp!

    Informative post is... pretty informative.

And also brings up another good point - "minor bug fixes" could actually span across a hundred or so things in the game. Gawd, writing all those down would take as long as maintenance itself.

No grain of salt or salt shaker taken. ;D

They don't hope to replace PW, just supplement their catalog.

The older a game gets, the cheaper it becomes to maintain and upgrade. PWI just came out with quite a huge update with the Tideborn expansion, and it's still not finished. I'm sure there is another expansion already being worked on, as it doesn't take the same amount of development staff to create new content than it does to create a whole new game. They will keep creating new content for some time. PW is still PWE's bread and butter. It'll have a longer shelf life than even I would probably expect.
I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.
