Random drop glitch?

maybe..computer vs human logic is interesting. However, I've also played other mmo's with a much more balanced "random drop" system. So, computer vs human logic vs software programmer?? I already have a headache. b:chuckle
It would, also be appreciated to have a GM talk about this and perhaps shed a little light on the situation.
As for myself and my experience. My ig hubby and I are both the same level, and duo everything. o.o Generally we have noticed the following: he does receive more drops then I do. Sometimes we don't get anything but coins b:cry (coins ftw!!!) Sometimes I don't even get enough to cover my costs on mp pots...etc etc...he's archer tho. so add costs of arrows for him. Either way we have learned that sometimes its just best to not leave squad on "random". Just depends on the situation and the mobs and the maps I suppose. b:shutup
It also doesn't seem to matter who has lead..etc ...etc.. One time, after X-amount of grinding his drops were worth total npc return rate of 80k mine were only 10k. So, there is most certainly a difference. And it is almost always like this when we leave it on random.0 -
The problem when somebody says "random" is you automatically assume that drops will be going all over the place. It is not that the drops are not random, it is in fact that you interpret random differently.
Much like with "double drops" - where many people interpreted this as double the chance for the drops, and not double the amount of potential drops. People cried when they didn't see thousands of molds, and they cried when they killed three mobs and only got coins.
It takes large numbers and huge surveys to accurately denote whether something is random or not. Using one FB and one BH as an example doesn't tell us that drops are random or not - it tells us that for two out of thousands upon thousands of runs, you got this or did not get that. The sample is not big enough to paint a picture of what's actually happening.

For those saying it is to do with damage, I would like to happily disagree with you.
I have helped in FBs and BHs and seen level 5x venos get three or four mold drops in a row - it all went to them. Compared to me and my three or four measly DQ items. Script and coding may have something to do with it, and perhaps there is a chance somebody gets more drops if they do X, Y and Z, but there isn't really any proper evidence to support these theories.
Only a few examples, people saying here and there what happened in one or two BHs.
Like I said above, if we could all get together and share multiple experiences (ten, twenty BHs each, with about twenty or more people posting on that thread with the numbers) then we'd be able to actually see if there is some kind of a pattern to random drops or not.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Random drops is not random if you haven't noticed already.
If loot set on "individual" the tank will get most the drops b:chuckle
Than the cleric or veno will get the rest. Archer and wizard wont get anything, maybe 1 DQ item or a pot b:cry0 -

Agreed but the (xxxx) amount of luck is not 100% Random :P0 -
Sounds crazy but when a mold drops I always say "mold" in chat before anyone else... and then nearly always end up with the mold.
Probably coincidence.... but it has happened on at least a dozen occasions.
As for DD most to get most drops - doubt this. I sometimes squad with a friend who does no DD at all, in fact sometimes nothing at all, and still manages to snag some, if not most of the drops.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

My two bits on the problem: I've had some squads where I get nothing for ages and then out of the blue I'll get something really amazing. its based on a dice roll matrix everytime a loot is picked every player gets a "random" value highest number wins... if you roll a 6 sidet dice 6 times its unlikely u will get 1 of each number u can even completely random get 6 6ses but it would still be random just coincidence...
the dice matrix in pwi is the same one many other programs use its the closest thing to truly random that a computer can make without counting free electrons from a radioactive isotop...
while level and other factors may cause if difference in the drops dropped it DOES NOT factor into the dice rolled and who ends with what drops0 -

broken cyan jade - 3
dq items - 2
blue/white equip 3
so its 19/502 = 3.7%..
I must say i am getting a bit unhappy about it...0 -

That will give you a better idea of how things work although it doesn't answer all the issues with the system.
What is important... and I can't believe no one seems to care... is that doing dungeon runs with those of significantly higher levels SEVERELY ruins drop rates for the whole squad.
Now if you really don't care about getting drops that is fine... but... if you are one of the many ppl wondering why your drops during BH's & FB's aren't what you think they should be ... this is usually the answer. Stop relying on ppl above your level & squad with those near to your own level.
PWI rewards your efforts accordingly.0 -
You can flip a coin 20 times and end up with heads every single time... Yet it's still random... That's the nature of randomless... sometimes it doesn't seem to be random. b:chuckle0

At first I agreed with you. I partied with the same friend on numerous occasions. We'd go and grind in the same place and NPC stuff at the same time. It would seem as though he was getting the majority of the drops each time. However, every time we went to the NPC to sell our loot, we'd have the same value of drops (+/- ~20k). This is based on over 10 rounds of NPCing (done every hour or so, over a number of days). So I don't think there is anything wrong with the distribution system.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

If 5 out of 6 drops go to other people on average (like they should) then it's easy to feel slighted, when actually it's completely random.0
