tell that guy me suggest he rerolls to another class.......
    -.-'
reason: lack of required brainpower to DD as much as one can while still keeping aggro on the tank barb (or BM in this case)....

DDs seem to forget their job is NOT to go all out using the highest DPS e-peen flashing abilities they have. It IS their job to estimate the tank based on Experience & watch their DPS to try & stay under the aggro mark. Also if they do grab aggro, to know their "save my ****" techniques & STOP DDing imediately hoping the cleric will heal (which in some cases isnt possible, also for the DD to know) and the tank will get aggro back. Now, a good DD will know his estimates & some Tanks are also fail (Barb that tank in human form or asks "what's flesh ream?") and thereby taking aggro isnt always a sign of fail DD. But BMs dont have much in the way of direct Aggro gain other then their own DPS, and any DD should know to stay under that mark.

It puzzles me that a lot of DDs seem to feel a sense of pride that they can overpower a tanker's aggro as if that alone makes them better than me. They spend up big on interval and crit gear but have to nerf themselves to stop stealing aggro.

I was fortunate to be tanking in a squad of DD's 10 levels above me with 2 archers that might have complained a bit about monsters taking longer, but I was impressed with their ability to ensure the aggro remained with me. You certainly appreciate a good DD when you find one. The reverse is true, you soon learn where someone isn't doing their job.

Isn't it great when a team works together!!

In general you're right, but - specifically on wyvern?
A wizard makes a fine tank. Potentially better defences than you (since it's arcane damage)

sigh just wish ppls would stop being so stupid and DD right and listen to the team....if the DD that steals aggro can handle it then its fine for them to steal aggro cus they can stay alive...i mean i did say to let me get full aggro but after 2-3 hits on my side he used ultimates one after another...and even stealing aggro he kept attacking...sigh...

It's Arcane damage when Wyern goes up to your face, curses you, and then tries to take a bite out of you?

    Really?

    This is news to me.

    Wyvern doesnt do arcane damage..

But as a general rule you start attacking at like 80% hp depending on tank level (if its a barb around your level-85%, if its a BM around your lvl-75%, if its a veno pet-leave squad and find another squad or attack at 50%hp b:surrender)

If you do that you can shove in as many flashy crazy skills as you want without really needing to keep an eye on aggro.

Yeah...Hercs cant tank. I would know. Archers steal aggro all the time.

My Veno early on solo'd Wyvern and he was cussing me out the entire time. Swearing up a storm! He swore he would suck the marrow from my bones, gnaw on my entrails and lick my brain from my skull, and that was in the first 20 seconds. Of course... my Herc explained to him that it is impolite to swear at a G.I.R.L.

As a DD, I am all too aware of what I should and should not do. Knowing when to nerf your damage is one of the main parts about being a DD.

Now then, sometimes I misjudge my damage and I will steal aggro. However, unlike many DDs who will do this often and complain afterwards, blaming others, I am all too aware when I steal aggro because I was a silly cow and did too much damage. I'll apologise for it.
If I don't apologise for stealing aggro, you're not doing a good job at keeping it and I'm stealing even when nerfing my damage. But that's a whole other story.

That wizard needs to either realise what his job as a DD is or he needs to reroll. DDs that steal aggro and are too stupid to not only realise it was their fault, but why they stole in the first place, are the cause of many a party wipe.

The only time I do not nerf my damage for a tank is if I can tank what we're killing. For example, every now and then I help out with a BH39 or lower, when I'm bored. I can tank mobs and bosses in those dungeons - even without heals at the cost of my charm. I won't nerf my damage there because there is no need to - I can safely tank.
However, in these cases, I normally do say beforehand that I have no intentions to play nicely with the little mob and let somebody hold aggro. =)

That's why I love being BM: when someone else takes aggro other than the barb, just throw in the cloud sprint and RUN b:laugh

On topic: there's no reason to tell DDs to hold their damage at that level. If they don't know it at their level, then they are really doing something wrong.

Wow.. Just wow.. That wiz is an epic fail.
As u said ur a BM, not really meant to tank. DDs should know that its different when a BM or herc is tanking in stead of a barb. And on top of that its his own fault he ignored ur warning.

You did your best. BM's don't really have a way to HOLD and KEEP aggro. The Wiz should have understood this and adjusted his game play.

What some people do not understand is how to adjust their style of play to suit the squad's best interest. For example, there's a wiz that I squad with regularly (he's 1 level below me) He could be dropping all sorts of mad skills, but he holds himself in check. In over 25 times squadding with him, he stole aggro once, and scared the pee outta the cleric since he was standing behind her.b:laugh I got it back before the boss could do anything other than start walking away.

The moral of the story is...The wiz with you failed to tailor his gameplay to the needs of the squad, and so he aggroed and so he died. Not your fault.

What this boils down to is, that wizzy wasn't a team player. He wanted to do things his way, not the way the team wanted. You said yourself he wasn't behaving as part of the team the whole run. Well, it's he own fault for not being a team player and working with the squad.

If a BM is tanking, and the wiz cannot survive that boss' hits, most will limit their attacks, unless they are really dumb and don't know how to play their class, which it seems you encountered, so don't be surprised -- let him die and learn his lesson the hard way. I get the same thing with archers too, where they will go all out with attacks and snatch aggro then complain -- no **** Sherlock, BM's are not barbs. The job of a DD is very simple.
