GM Support

A lot of us in game really feel there has been a serious lack of in-game GM support/moderation this last half of the year.

The first half of this year, GM's were in game, joking around, moderating world chat (the occasional red text warning WC spammers to tone it down, or suffer the wrath of the GM's was everyone's highlight of the day).

Now, we never see them. Ever.

I know you guys have stuff to do, I know your busy. But really, would it kill you to hire one person to have a second computer hooked up in their office, and be logged on all the time, and occasionally look over to moderate world chat, or even just speak randomly throughout the day to let everyone know that GM's do love us, that GM's do appreciate our business, and that GM's still do exist, and will enforce the rules of World Chat?

God I miss the old PWI GM support.....

I do miss when every once in a while, we would see something that wasn't a canned system message like "Have you seen the Boutique?"

Those messages replaced the real ones. b:sad

Everything is automated, it took the heart out of PWI. The heart being the GM's. Now, I have quests permanently stuck in my quest log reminding me to buy an inventory stone, or safe stone, or pet bag stone.

Or we get system message spam telling us to look at the cash shop, or we get junk e-mails practically begging for us to charge zen.

Advertising is ok, I dont mind a little. We all are quite aware of the cash shop and its presence. What we do mind is not having the GM's mingle with their players, and the little things that let us know that this company is run by actual humans who enjoy the same thing we do: gaming.

I have a few GM's on my twitter, and they seem so nice, and they seem to have so much fun at PWI HQ. Why cant they bring that aspect into the game, so we can enjoy the company as well?

Just bringing these back would be a great step forward. A lot of people have said they miss these.

How else am I supposed to know what day it is b:cry

Yeah, I admit, bringing those messages back would be a massive step forward, even if sometimes those messages were automated. It was nice to see that, to remind us what time it was LOL

I dont understand how this is called Perfect World INTERNATIONAL but we dont have international GM's?

Please keep in mind, not seeing us in the game does not mean we're not working, we just have a much larger community to support now, and with that comes much less free time.

As fun as hanging out in game is -and I've done it a few times- this detracts from the time we should be spending answering tickets. In the future if we grow more I hope we can have more folks helping out here so we'll have more free time to do this, but having a person logged on all day just to chat is not something that is viable in a game that has to support thousands upon thousands of users.

You might see me if you look hard enough, but I rarely advertise my own presence when I'm hanging around in game for fear of major lag death b:shocked

I remember though you mentioning once that only certain people handle tickets. I believe it had to do with working through lunch breaks and how you do that but you don't handle tickets, if I remember correctly b:chuckle

My point being that there are GMs ingame, right? Would it really take so much time to shoot out a few personalized system messages a day? b:surrender I wouldn't ask for them to spend hours chatting with the playerbase, but maybe half an hour spread out throughout an entire work day doesn't seem like too much to ask, if they're ingame anyway.

How about even making a few trustworthy people online able to monitor the WC. The language is getting pretty vulgar sometimes. Maybe give a few people the ability to hand out warnings or even the ability to notify online GM's for immediate action.

Duly noted, I'll be making an effort to hang out more. As much as my responsibilities are split between a lot of things, I think I can hang out in game a bit while watching the forum much more easily than someone who is doing e-mail. Be on the lookout! Mornings are vital! (only if coffee is involved)

I know you guys work hard (and play hard too, Ive seen the halloween pics :P) but I guess the community as a whole just feels like there is a serious lack of GM presence, even if there isnt actually a GM on. And world chat constantly gets out of hand (at least on Sanctuary) and you have other players trying to moderate the little immature brats that are bringing up subjects that should be left in the privacy of their house, away from a public game setting (or at least in faction chat).

    I dunno :( I just miss you guys! b:cry

But yeah, thanks for letting us know that an effort will be made on your part. But it shouldnt just be you, it should be several of the GM's, there are what, 5 servers? Dont you guys have assigned GM's to assigned servers? I know that some of you are really swamped, and do multiple things, in game, on the website, and maybe even help the dev team (speculating here, idk how the PWI system is). But I know personally, if I were a GM, I would have PWI running on my computer (or as I said, Id even have a 2nd computer, and run PWI during the workday) just so I can have it available to moderate world chat, throw in a completely random, off the wall system message to make everyone laugh their butts off. The GM support is what really makes and breaks the game, imo...not just the GFX and character system.

This really came out from me from an earlier experience on that support chat thingie....(if that was you spoons, I apologize, but I cant stand what could be deciphered as automated responses)....I hate feeling like Im talking to an automated response system. Thats actually one of the reasons why I think everyone likes you so much, is because you actually deal out real responses.

But thanks for making a note of it. Tell the gang in the next meeting that their gamers want those "Mornings are Vital" messages back darnit!

Overall this thread is pretty easy to sum up. We miss our GM's.

I've only seen 2 in 4 months...maybe if I gave them cookies, they'd want to come out and play more.

*goes to find cookies for gm's*
