Attention all kitty shops!! We’re moving Northwest!! In a serious effort to clean up the lag in West Archosaur all shops are moving to a single district area for all shopping needs. This will not only keep our busy metropolis looking litter free, but it will also reduce the amount of lag we experience in our daily pick-up area and will reduce the amount of cat shop crashes.

The Northwest district of Archosaur is the perfect merchant location. It may not be in the high traffic zone that you get in the West district, but if we spread the population out between the two we will get less lag in our daily area and our shopping area. Naturally there are certain locations ideal to selling specific wares (i.e. TT mats by the forges, eggs by Mrs. Zoologist, shards by crazy stone npc) but the rest of our shops, once placed in a single district, will be easier to shop and sell from.

Initially the effort is just to get all shops out of West Archosaur and into the new shopping center, but it will be nice to see specific regions within the district established eventually. There is even a rumor of a fashion mall in Southeast Archosaur.

To spread the word about this northern migration feel free to leave a message on those kitty shops still littering the road of West Archosaur.

Hmmm… I wonder which server will be the first to produce a screenie of a litter free West Archosaur.

    I think that Koko has a great idea going and if we all work together, we can reduce the lag b:shocked, get rid of the catshop crashesb, and make the shopping mall an awesome and joyable place to visit b:mischievous

    Hmm I never have serious lag at Archosaur b:victory

    Anyway: To answer your question which server will be catshop free at west arch first ... none! Why? Because people started spreading over west arch for good reasons. It is the place where, due to their dailies, most people come across at least once a day. Also, apart from the mass of catshops that are just randomly ordered along the road, certain shops hold certain key positions such as crazy stone courtyard, crafting NPCs or banker. It is not logical for people to leave their key positions, in fact they compete with each other who can place himself at the head of their favourite NPC first.
    Besides: Before the introduction of bounty hunt there was rarely a shop seen at the warsoul spirit. Now they are all over. Why? Because many people stand there now waiting for their BH. So the only solution to get the catshops out of west arch would be to ask all not shopmode people to gather elsewhere and stay away from west arch ... good luck with that b:surrender

    This is a great idea, hopefully you can get enough people to comply.

    Really, it'd be nice if there were places where catshops could not be set up at all. Or maybe limit it to a certain number of cat shops per a certain square distance.

    It's common business practise to set up shop in a high-traffic region, but it's not that great for people's framerates. O.O

    I think the idea is to spread them out a bit and get them to emptier places so that people don't have to get through lag in west every single time just to reach their npc.

    Currently the Cat Shops are right smack in the place everyone frequents. Which is good because that's where people will see them.

    The downside is all those shops cause framerate lag, so it's unbearable to go through that area. By moving them to areas that are currently virtually abandoned, people can move freely through West District. Not only that, but those abandoned and desolate areas finally get to do something other than take up space.

    Right, and doesn't it even have the look of a merchant area?

    I'm not suggesting every category of sales or buys move there, as I know there are certain npc's that are nice to plant your shop next to for very specific items. But materials, cloths, armor, dye, event items, etc. all take up space smack dab in the center of an already overcrowded area. These shops could benefit by sharing one common space in a lag free area. There are so many who avoid that area just because of the lag, if there was a designated shopping area without lag wouldn't it be worth it to see if there is an increase in the amount of sales/buys?

    You're assuming those cat shoppers aren't selfish ****. I doubt they'll move. Most people visit west arch everyday. They dont care about you lagging,as long as you look at their shop. Only way you'll get them to move is by getting the whole server not to buy anything from cat shops in west arch. Good luck with that.

    Aaaaand... KokoSinopa got my vote!

    It would be wonderful if there was some sort of spreading or organization of the meowshops/mooshops.

    Besides, when I see all those shops in the avenue, my wish is to quickly leave, except when I am browsing for some rare, good deals. Main reason? Not only the lag, but the shops are obscuring each other.

    Oh and to build on your idea, instating a grid would be awesome... Can you imagine how neat it would be if the shops would be parallel to each other? b:thanks

    It would be interesting to see who actually sells or not... and I don't just mean items and price, but also shop positioning, traffic rate, interest suggested via catshop title...

    Can you imagine how neat it would be if the shops would be parallel to each other?

    I actually had a glimmer of hope that ppl could keep the shops off of the road. Wouldn't it be funny to see them lined up on the sides? b:chuckle

    I am a catshop at times, and i dont consider myself a selfish **** :P

    Yes i do park around west arch, but i try to find a spot with not many catshops, why? more reasons then one:

    - I dont wanna cause lag cause i hate it myself
    - I dont wanna park on top of a npc or right next to it cause i hate catshops blocking my way when i need a npc
    - And i think its better to stand in a spot where you can be seen as solitary shop instead of a sea of cats, no ones gonna buy from you when they cant see your title in a sea of pink and orange

    I would vote for a shopping area, but then again, i do wanno sell too, so if theres a shopping area that actually attracts people sure ill go for it, dont matter where it is

    I think KoKo has the right idea seriously need to reduce lag in Arch, but i think PWI should do more also as most game crashes take place in west Arch, they could make a market place where u need an npc in all major town's to transport u there, and set spaces for stalls for ease of shopping that way eveything is in 1 place, it will also reduce chat spaming in the towns so its all in 1 place all neat and tidy :) so for now lets all move our cat shops to help make it a more enjoyable game :)

    They would have to ban cat shops in all places except the shopping area.

    Shopping would be awesomely enjoyable to do then. It would be like being in a touristic place.

    move all major NPC's all over arch, instead of having them all in the west district.

    Frankly, I much prefer catshops in useful places. The couple on the BH platform, a couple near the teleporter, a couple in the cube - places I go to.

    The huge MESS in west arch? Heck no. There's no point even trying to look for anything in that.

    I do wish we had the option of putting stuff in the AH with infinite duration. Then we could do without catshops completely.
