People could always sell in other areas.

The issue is that people KNOW everyone at one point in the day needs to be in West Arch. I do lag, but it is not life threatening.

Solution to Kitty Shop Lag --> Turn all settings down...do what you have to in W.D. leave West District. There are plenty of other resources in all of Arch. (ie - Banker, etc.), therefore W.D. should be a quick stop for most people.

IF you are "hanging" out there....you are contributing and that's on you. It is an easy move to South or North where there is no lag. b:surrender

To be honest: I am waiting for 1k to become the next West District.

Moving NPCs does not seem realistic... besides, flying/running all over Archo to find what you want... It's not shopping then, it's playing hide-and-seek. b:laugh

Why do they need to be in west arch? If they moved CS to the north, WQ to the south, and some other major npc's, the catshops may spread around the city, EDIT: since people will then NEED to be in all districts of the city everyday, not just west.

Later in levels...you should know

...the only reason many go into West is for Dailies, Shopping and Wine making.

Other then that, there really is no other need for any other District in Arch. Well, not that I can think of right now (coffee still kicking in).

But once again, people "flock" where others "flock." Blame it on the Dailies? Sure...but Arch is the "center" of the game (this is established by level 20), therefore no one is going to be moving their shops anytime soon.

well i was just going based on your theory of why people setup shops in west. (because people have to go to west for dailies)

But wouldn't it be nice to do your general shopping all in one corner of arch instead of running all over the entire city? Regardless, I don't foresee major game changes in this regard. It's up to us players to join forces and make the change for the better. I'm moving to the northwest along with several others and giving a nudge to the rest.

Strangely, I have been kicked out of the game quite frequently recently, while browsing a few shops in W.Archo... I wonder if it's due to the intense concentration of shops in that place (and yes, I always play at the lowest possible settings).

More recently I have been noticing, what I call, "freezes." Go a few feet and all will freeze. Not sure if it is a patch thing or not, but I do know that I never used to "freeze" until more recently.

So I do not know b:surrender....I can say that there are A LOT more shops recently as well and A LOT more people "hanging out." Zzzzzz...

How about no catshops at all?

Allow players to make a virtual shop through an NPC. Players can then sift / search through shops looking for things to buy.

Players can get on with the business of playing and not run alts on other computers (or perhaps multiboxing if that goes on) for selling goods and thus reduce the number of people logging onto each server and following on from that, lag.

It may help promote more competitive pricing of goods as people would be able to compare with their competitors. May also make it easier to prevent scamming e.g. tricking people into thinking they are buying a best of luck token etc.

I suppose this system is more or less akin to what the Auctioneer can be currently be made to do (i.e. starting bid price same as buy price) but perhaps a virtual shop would have certain restrictions or limitations.

Maybe:

- the virtual shop is only available in the city / town it has been set up in thus searches for goods will only find those locally available
- no fee for selling goods or one off shop registration fee

Potential consequences may be:

- West Archosaur will seem like a ghost town though i'm guessing on the whole, that's what people would prefer in order to avoid lag
- users may abuse it in order to have defacto extra storage space
- there's probably others but nothing else occurs to me at this moment in time

I think we should try to move and see how that goes. try one plan at a time, and perhaps if people see how well that goes, we can implement some more ideas?

me like the idea but...
ehh not sure the people settling up the catshops would willingly put their evil evil kitty shops in a place no one goes to. X_x' unless there be some sort of GM ban hamster controlled way of splitting kitty shops based on what items they selling/buying. (!!! mayhaps we can give the GMs the power to move mass amounts of people at once to a new location!) xD
already separation of catshops sort of exists (blacksmitty mats at the blacksmitty/ DQ mats & junk (mainly overpriced junk) in front of west arch gate/wine mats at warsoul spirit/etc)

I think that moving all the shops/lag to North Arch makes perfect sense then everyone can complain about how laggy North Arch is instead.. Genius i wish i thought of it!

I know a perfect way to stop lag in West Arch, once a day for 5 - 10mins just spawn Harpy Wraith without warning in the middle of them all. That way everyone dies and it will just be a crowd of dead bodies instead of cat shops.

Upgraded mounts are in the Swift or Quick categories in the AH.

I remember when Southwest Archosaur was somewhat empty, aside from General Summer's courtyard. I then put up a TT shop there regularly for a few weeks. Now, there are a lot of TT shops in that courtyard.

I think this idea can sort of happen, but it's not enough to get a real performance improvement.

besides most of them are afk and stuff day and night so they'll either be forced to move or come on during the time harpy wraith spawns if they want to continue to sell stuff.

Just give players the ability to hide catshops so those not interested in shoping dont see them job done .

It was possible years ago to hide corpses in one game i played so im sure it wouldnt be too hard to code in.

it's not their fault. They might be unlucky to live in a place without the good interweb. Also sucks for them that humans thought of some strange strange term called the "work" computer (basically 10-20 year old junk in a box)... and that they can't design & build their own computer specifications.

Price of a decent connection is expensive as ____. My computer handles fine though. Best option to reduce lag is to make the catshops invisible via an option.

Look at these ridiculus prices.. $100 for 25mbs upload with a 125gb limit. Q_Q I wish I lived in Japan with crazy fast connections.

Regarding the post I put forward, it was just an idea to help solve the issue of lag due to a large number of users who set up shop in West Archosaur.

Obviously the feedback has suggested that it is redundant. Fair enough.

The idea kind of came from another game I played, a web based game with the same initials as the band Kings of Leon. Maybe some of you have played it. They allow users to set up a shop in their mall district. I thought the idea could be used here.

With regard to the lag from my own personal experience, with my regular graphic settings (I have a Radeon 3600 graphics card), it gets jerky but when I chop down the settings using the best performance option, navigating through West Archosaur is bareable.

lol make it random but still give a few minutes for those actually paying attention to leave the area, eventually no more shops in west arch b:victory. i normally shop in north arch or south cause theirs still decent deals and no worries about lag. considering once i get down to the level of the shops i move an inch about every 5-10 seconds till all the information is loaded. if i'm alittle above them i'll freeze for about 30 seconds to a minute then be fine flying around the whole place so long as i'm not right near a HUGE flock of them such as the middle of the crossroad or slightly away from the teleporter. (horrible ram is kinda to blame here and not a great graphics card so west arch hates me). but i agree with a post said earlier that it does seem to be getting worse. i used to only half to wait in west like 15-30 seconds and be fine on the rest but now i still glitch lag after like 30-40m for 15 seconds or so. but yea if they spread it out the lagg will be spread out but it'll be small and bearable lag rather than focused and horrible. besides the greed people have with arch bogged up people in AH are raising prices for convience it seems and quite a bit too. so that's less people who'd want it cleared cause of the proffit they make. if you can clear it then grats and i'd love it b:pleased but with how people are and greedy as they are (more so for anni's ect raising gold prices and sellers never wanting to lower it by much ever again) probably wont cause they won't get as much.

Maybe Devs should consider putting restrictions on the locations that shops can be put up and make only a certian area of arch able to have Cat shops in it at all... That would be the only way that you would get people to move.. otherwise people will always set up shop in areas that people spend a lot of time.

People will not move thats for sure, if its not a GM restriction then they will not listen to anyone, why? because the business is there, the more traffic the more possible sales.

Sorry to say but yes the only solution I see about this is like others have said, make a shop hide option. That will really reduce these people's lag :]
