How many people feel negatively about shields?

I want Perfect World to be historically accurate. Therefore, we must have shields!

    This has been done before quite awhile ago.

    I also think shields would be nice to be implemented. Even if the only thing they offered was maybe +1 of each attribute every 15 lvls or something.

    Accurate isn't as important as the actual thought. If you are going into battle, who would go without something to shield them?

    But then again, I also wouldn't rush into battle with armors that left my belly button exposed. So if you wanna be "accurate" there is more things than the shield issue that should be addressed lol.

    But then there are people like Archers who have one hand with a bow, and the other with ammo.. kinda hard to hold a shield.

    Or magic casters usually use both hands as well... so.. I don't see them being beneficial if they did it "accurately".

    Nice thought tho.

    Since when in history did tigers transform into man? Or women into foxes? When in history, has anyone flew through the air on swords, birds, stingrays etc? Shields may have been a part of the history, but the other mentioned things are not. So to be completely accurate by bringing in shields would also mean removing the other parts that make the game inaccurate also.

    why do people always add **** poll options trying to force someone to agree with them? Its always one yes and multiple no's. Either someone agrees with you, or in this case is "a n00b" or "QQ ing".

    I guess I'll be QQing in this case? I think it'll take more than shields to make the game historically accurate. You'd have to remove a lot of the monsters for one thing, like the Dryads for instance. Its inaccuracies are what makes it colourful and interesting.

    When it comes to armor, sure shields could be nice and functional, but I think the gear system PWI already has pretty much covers you. If they end up adding shields, great, I just really don't think they're necessary.

    Yes, i agree. I want my fantasy land video games to be historically accurate too. Come on devs, do a little reseach and represent Perfect World land just like it was throughout time. Now just iump into your interdimensionnal gravity induced wormhole portal and take the time to go study the actually Perfect World demension and GET THE DETAILS RIGHT DAMN IT.


    Did you ever think that maybe there's a PW dimension where that is reality and what we concider reality is the video game. Oh yea, after a hard day of tanking Twilight Temple for mats, it will be relaxing to log on to Quantum Space-Time Universe. I can level up my neat little human civilizations so it can soon reach class II civilization. Then fly to Alpha Centuri and meet the aliens and fight for territory.

    Good thing its maint tonight so i can finally get some sleep. I think i play too much game.

    And historically accurate? Come on ^^ we're flying around on swords, fish and dragons, riding snakes and shiny purple foxes in a distinctly Chinese world, shooting magic at each other, fighting giant spiders and bunnies, turning into cows and cats to sell items, wearing glowing armour and weapons helping random npc's and 100 people called chin, save the world from wraiths...or something.

    Realistically a shield would be difficult to implement without unbalancing the game.

    Ok...odds are that someone here pulled up the old thread too. Ok then.

    Sheilds really have no place in PWI, except maybe as a fashion item. Most players end up using 2-handed weapons, thereby eliminating a reasonable possibility of using said sheild. It is important to remember, though, that we're playing a game about overly fit humans, elves, and anthropomorphised animals. Realism really has no place here. In fact, I think any major realism in this game was shot in the head a while ago, since we're adding mer-people to the mix soon, too.
    I shall dominate the Dreamweaver server through the use of Baked goods...and only baked goods.^^[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
