Shaodu Cub nerfed?

I feel really stupid posting to ask about this as not only do I feel like I've been ripped off when I bought my shaodu, but also I didn't notice that the pounce skill had been removed (forgot it came with the cub).
I just wanted to ask for opinions on whether my shaodu is now useless, it has following:
Flesh Ream L3
Tough L1
Bash L3
Roar L1
I'm not planning on pvp, this is for use against mobs & bosses and just want to know if I've wasted my time & money?
Thanks
You did not get ripped off. You instead got a 800K bonus. The cost to remove Pounce and add a lvl 3 Bash.
This is typically the configuration that is used on the Shaodou. It is exactly the same as mine, but I had to pay for the upgrades.
One could argue that Pounce is better than Flesh Ream and that is what should have been replaced but in my experience the extremely slow cooldown makes it less useful.0 -
I have both a Magmite and a Shaodu, and I have to say I like them both. I'm not that high of a level [55 atm], but doing FB29 is a lot easier with the shaodu, and FB39 is nice when using a combo of the two tanks. Farren with the Shaodu (while possible) scares me. Trioc would kill my Magmite.
While these are lower level examples, I'm sure I'll find more where the Shaodu is more appropriate, or where the Magmite works better, later on.
When I bought my Shaodu, it already had level 3 Bash and level 2 Flesh Ream. I haven't had any issues with keeping aggro as of yet, even when I throw nuke after nuke. Might have something to do with my build, though. Not pure magic. [70 vit, 180 mag] But-- I've lost aggro on Trioc a lot of times using my wolf (even to a level 50 barb not using any skills).
Btw, no, I'm never getting a herc. Or a nix.
Edit: Magic damage difference... on FB29 boss, it hits 200~300 on my cub, 500~600 on my Magmite.0 -
Since you guys are saying that the Cub is so good i want to see it now, i'm training him again (since i have time now), he's lv63 (against my lv68 golem) and i will post the results.
For now i can say, i take 6 secounds for kill a headless cavalier with the golem and 15 secounds for kill one with the Cub (using only normal attacks in fox form), i only have bleeding on him, that means that the mob turns to me a lot.
I don't see diference in the magic damage taken (250) and he take around 160~200 of damage against the golem that take 130~150.0 -

Foxform veno should definitely grind with a better damage dealing pet than the cub. Since it takes almost 3 times as much time for you to kill mob, it's kinda obvious. Also consider something like a scorpion or sawfly for the damage.0 -
Sawfly no... it's terrible because of the land, you have to jump all the time for it don't stuck in the ground, also i count with Fenix in my final build =3 but yea, the Sawfly damage is very high ^^ i have one in my level.
You guys aren't the first ones to speak about the Cub in Dusks. I think that i will be lv90 when the Hercules will apear in my server >_>
(Cub currently is lv64)0 -

lvl 1 scorpion does more dmg then the sawfly and doesnt get stuck in the ground!!!b:victoryb:chuckle0 -
I want to try a setup for my Cub... since he's only have bleeding the monster always start to attack me instead:
Bleeding, Stuning Skill, Elemental skill (maybe iron) or Pounce, and the Skill that increase the defense.
Sorry but i don't know how they are called here =3
I really don't want to remove the stuning skill... since it is rare and etcetera... my current Cub are with this configuration:
Bleeding lv3, Stun, Raise defense lv3, Skill that decrease the attack lv2.
Sugestions?0 -

The only think I can think that may work, even though it will further decrease its attack, is to remove flesh ream and use Roar, get it to 5. That should let you hit the mobs a few times before the mob goes after you, at which point roar would be ready to use again, so bear would be able to get aggro back. It would also make a nice emergency backup tank, with tough and threaten and roar you would be able to grab aggro and live long enough for the party to either run, or for the cleric to res the tank and have the tank get aggro back.Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.0 -
I agree that bash will do more aggro than bleeding, but i dislike of remove the first slot skills, why? Because even if the skill is in the cooldown, when you unsumon and sumon your pet again, he will use the first slot skill like if it was not in the cooldown. It's useful for normal lure, he will lure, use bleeding and attract more aggro again...
I don't like so much of roar, it have a long cooldown.0
