the "croix game" (**** cross) is the other way around
in that sense its a boudhist symbol of peace.

Rules= Know your enemy (players and NPCs) gives you more chances to survive.0 -
Yes that was my first thought too...
But that one actually is asian symbol of luck I think...
Still freaking misleading >.<[SIGPIC][SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I know the swastika is a buddhist symbol, also used in roman and greek floor mosaics and by norwegian vikings. But probably most well known for being used by the ****'s and i dont want my game to remember me of people like that.
And yes, i know it s a mirrored image of a swastika but that doesnt decrease the recognizability of it.
Can any GM please clear up what the reason was to use this symbol in the international version of the game?0 -

It's been 64 years since the end of World War II. You learn about this in history class, as a part of the growth of society. You also learn about the Romans, who fed Christians to Lions. Does that mean I should boycott the Helmets in this game, which remind me of the ones Romans used to wear? You have spears, which people used to stick in the ground to mount their opponent's heads on, as a warning. Should I boycott any Poleblade BM? It's a game. There are things in here that have some meaning to everyone. For instance, my Veno may make some people think of the Playboy Bunnies. Does that mean that I condone such acts as are found in the magazines? I don't think so. Just because a symbol has one meaning to you because of ****, and the Holocaust doesn't mean it's not an entirely different, and important symbol to another group. You don't have to hate it. Haven't we advanced past the fear and loathing of that dead regime? We're not going to repeat those mistakes, now let the past dwell in the past, and enjoy these shiny new charms we get to play with.0

^^For Op.Finland might be a notable exception amongst the modern Western countries regarding the public attitude towards swastikas in general.
Didint know that.. And i am from Finlandb:sweat
EDIT: damn you Reivi. You were faster.0 -
Looks like a PR **** up.
Well the 卐 charms are only here for the weekend, I'm sure you can bear it for a few days.
Also remember this is a Chinese company, who really don't care about anything thats not profit related. Yeah I bet they didn't think twice before the design was greenlighted.0 -
Don't be haters all they did was pk b:laugh b:laughQuit.0

I can't believe what people will cry over about.
It's a chinese symbol for dear sakes!!!!
With you complaining about it you are criticizing their culture by comparing it to what happened during WW2. Have some brains and realize that the symbol has been around for 100's of years before the **** army was around.
God, how low the complainers have sunk to find absolute nothing to complain about.
That is why I stay mostly in Off-Topic now.tatuaje: grinding mobs and zhenning ???

Thanks for infroming me about other uses of the swastika, but as you can read i already did know them. Even then WWII has been one of the biggest things that have happened the past century and thus the first thing that comes to my mind when i see those charms.0

Taken from another website regarding the symbol:What it is truly called is a Manji Symbol. Yes it looks similar to a swastika but is different in meaning. A manji (here meaning whirlwind) is a symbol often used in Buddhist art and scripture. It symbolizes Dharma (universal harmony) and the balance between opposites. In Zen Buddhism, the Manji represents the ideal harmony between love and intellect
It is a popular symbol in asian culture, but due to its likeness to the swastika has caused problems to other companies when used as a symbol in/on western products.0 -
*facepalm*
As has been said over and over both directly and in links by others, there are some massive distinctions here.
i) The swastika has existed for many centuries and is a peaceful symbol, and was horribly misused by Germany's **** party.
ii) While both uses have variations and exceptions:
- The vast majority of **** swastikas are counter-clockwise, and on a 45-degree angle
- The vast majority of modern Asian/Buddhist uses are clockwise, and on a right angle
iii) It's continues to be used in modern times in its traditional sense. Take a look at Kyoto Japan on google maps for instance: there are Buddhist swastikas plastered all over the place to indicate temples.
It's really not a problem. People need to stop overreacting and think a bit more level-headed about it.
As I see it, to put it in perspective, it's like having an evil group use the letter P:
p
then complaining when another group uses the letter Q:
q
The fact is, although there is a common root (ie. the **** stole it), the two are different symbols with different meanings.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Wow and Asian game using an Asian symbol on an item? I presume I am the only one who is truly shocked and apalled.0
-
This thread offends me, please close it.0

mirror it and paint it in blue and you've got Finnish Air Force symbol (1918-1945)
and btw that so called attitude towards the symbol in it's other sense didn't came from out of the blue. 1939 Finland faced imminent threat of invasion, no... imminent invasion and you can guess which country became their biggest supporter and also the indirect cause why by the 1940 Finland was still on the map as independent state. And no, it was none of the allied countries who prefered to wait and see.
And here ends the history lesson.0 -
I have to completely agree with Isala on this one. We are all agreed that the symbol looks similar to a swastika but it isn't one. Nobody should be offended by this and if they are then it is rediculous.
Isn't this just political correctness gone mad.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Lag? What lag?0 -
The reason the **** used it was because it was also used by the Hebrews. I don't remember if it meant peace or happiness or whatever. But I'm pretty sure just about every culture outside of the West has used non-tilted version of this symbol.
Seriously, this is starting to remind me of the short-lived "Holocaust" faction on Sanctuary and all of the flack they got for it. As if the word holocaust could not possibly refer to anything other then the death of Jews ...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Interesting point, the charms don't say bound and cannot be removed once equipped. Anyone test if these CAN be removed?Lenayra 95 Venomancer - Calamity(DW)

hi i double post0
-
No one asked for a history lesson
Also, not everyone reads forums so not everyone will read the posts you people have made trying to justify the use of such a symbol
Tip: get the opinion of europeans (seeing as though this is an international version of the game) before releasing items with potentially offensive imagesIsn't this just political correctness gone mad.
Yea, still doesn't justify the issue.0 -

Tip: Realize there is an Eastern part of Europe that still uses the symbol for what it is supposed to mean. They don't let some idiot who stole it and used it for their flag change what it is. Or are we supposed to only get the opinions of west Europe?Fist are the worst at PvP AND PvE, if you disagree, as I said, take it to PM's or make your own guide. Go here if you want to debate about it. - Lyndura
