Suggestion For Same Sex Marriages

This suggestion has been beaten to death.

The bottom line is we play MMOs as an escape from real life. We should not try to bring real life controversies into the MMO, it would bring more drama than it would be worth.

it IS just an MMO so why would it matter if two male chars or two female chars get married?

Yes, we use this game to escape "real life" so why would the legalization of **** marriage in "real life" in certain areas have any effect in allowing it in a game that we use to "escape" "real life"

And MMOs arent a political/moral arena, so why cant a male char marry a male char? shouldnt matter right? If you dont like it then you shouldnt take it to an MMO you should "get involved in your local comminuty groups" xD

not ONE of you mentioned a thing about the development side, how it MIGHT be difficult from a devs perspective to have to tweak anything. so fail on that aspect

Its just funny that you are all using reasons against it that can be used as reasons for it just as easily and still be just as valid.

But on the same token, the people saying it should be allowed are reaching a bit far.

Its an MMO, having to guys or two girls marry in an mmo has nothing to do with people "spending their lives together"

This is a game, simple as that, there is no valid reason two chars cannot get "married". I mean come on, how many of you female venos are really females? LOL. The gender we give to our characters can be as made up as the Hexweb or Dodopod we are attacking -.-. So there is no reason why any two chars cant marry in game, exept for that the devs just dont want them to, whether it be for actual developing issues or because...this game is developed in an area that can be considered "more then slightly conservative"

Anyways, im just waiting for the servers to come back up.

Join your local community group to lobby for those causes. For a company to "promote" what you are suggesting, they would have to be very careful they were not breaking any laws first. Than you have the fact that only 4 states in the US even make it legal to have same sex marriages, and only 5 countries in Europe. So I think PWE is pretty much going with the what society accepts. Also note that PWE is located in California.... where same-sex marriages are NOT legal.

You are asking for them to change the game, than suggest that nothign shows up when you get married.. wouldn't that make it pointless? the all purpose to get married in-game is to have your partners name over your head...... You can have a "wedding" ceremony with your friends in-game, and since you were suggesting nothing to show up over the characters head, there would be no difference, right?

Regarding your last suggestion for a special server... Who is going to pay for it? Are you offering to pay all the bandwith and maintenance costs associated with a special purpose new server?

I don't wanna hear about your real-life.

so everyone that you interact with is going to know, why would you want a bunch of strangers who dont matter to know?

If you are the type of person that feels like a woman trapped in a mans body, why not just play a woman. Or if you feel like a man trapped in a womans body, why not just play a man? You can have your wedding this way. In game you can be who you feel inside, you are not limited by how you were born.

Also keep in mind only a very small percentage of people are homosexual, PWE is going to cater to the masses. As well they should as a business. Also this game has an Chinese culturistic background, and I dont think that homosexul marrige was, or is allowed in Chinese culture.

I feel this issue is just so people can say "look at me I am ****!" you can do that already in game infact many already do. ITS NOT LIKE REAL LIFE where opportunites are going to be cancelled from you. nobody is going to keep you from progressing at all. Other than a weadding, you have the EXACT SAME abilities and opportunities in this game as straight people. And thats ONLY if you choose to play as the same sex.

Whyyyyyyy do people keep talking about the legality of it? IT IS A GAME PEOPLE. I dont think its legal to **** at someone with a sword either but they allow that. I mean come on. It is quite annoying... The "law" as far as online gaming is concerned has no impact in any way on who can get "married" or about same sex "marriages." On Asda Story you can have "soul mates" with the same sex? Are they breaking the law?!?! Oh wait no...because its not called marriage...

In a GAME where you can control rock monsters, shoot out flaming cards, **** at people with a glowing sword, and fly why cant you marry someone of the same sex? and HOW can you claim that it is because it isnt legal in California... The only reason it isnt happening is because the devs dont want it to, whether it be because they think e-**** marriage is wrong or because theyt believe that if it was allowed it would cause to much drama and QQ from nub gamers who think it would be "wrong", or because they see no point in it because you can always just be a diff gender... seeing as well... Im ****, i think it would be cool beans to marry another guy in the game, but i dont care if i cant, hell the only reason most people do it is to get stuff? AND if i had a boyfriend...I would be doing alot more with him and to him then getting e-married on an MMO LOL

The two previous posts clearly show why same-sex marriage will never be put in the game. There is no way for people to agree with it, therefore it is safer for a company to just follow what the majority of the people around take as acceptable.

Well it seems that not much can be put into this thread anymore, but I guess I can state my opinion too since the servers are down and I'm completely bored outta my mind.

Yes I'm one of the few girls who don't play their actual gender. I choose to play a guy mainly because my character is a bm and I really don't like the way girl bms look, but I also choose to play a guy character because then I have an option to marry either a male or a female that I like if one of them came around. I guess it just goes to say that if you seriously want to get married in game then have you or your significant other play a male and the other a female then you two can live happily every after in your Perfect World and nobody would have to know unless you told them.

Now onto the question about allowing homosexual marriage in game.
No, I actually think it wouldn't be good. I'm only saying this because like many people have pointed out, there are a lot of other people out there that hate homosexuality and if they saw this in the game they would quit and PWI would loose a lot of good players and paying customers. I have no problem with it in real life, but it shouldn't be dragged into a game. Some people would be outraged if they saw, "Betty and Susie are now married, let us wish them a happy marriage." (Random names used) I'm not trying to put your case down really, I'm just stating facts.
