What is it with people nowadays...'(-_-)'

That is one of reasons, I mostly try to not help outside the squad.
But there are situations, when I peacfuly kill mobs with one or two players around. You notice them, they notice you and you both keep some distance. If happen to attack the same mob, then just apologize and move on. Problem comes when you see this person getting attacked by multiple mobs. That kind of situation makes me think, that I should help, but... at this lvl it could be aoe grinding and my help would get labeled as "KS". So sometimes I have watched how my "killing mate" goes down
The best is to ask if they need help. That helps to avoid some problems...WarrenWolfy - Sanctuary wrote: »I usually only help much lower-levels. For example, I'll use Roar on the Darkbreed Wolfkins in front of Untamed FB19 and draw all of them to me, without doing any damage to them, so that the level 19s can beat them up safely.
That's what I did with my barb alt too. Just situation was reversed - I was used as bait by higher lvls in my fb19. Aggro whole fb19 room and let them release their aoe. "Go, kitty! Fetch some mobs!". Few stacked ironhearts and after a moment tiger comes back with 4-8 mobs following. Aoe spell, few heals and kitty is ready to go back.
Was one of the most fun fbs I have ever had! Died only in the boss room as snarl's slow didn't let me run full circle and fetch all mobs in there.0 -

Sounds like fun. I wish my fbs were more like that. No one around my level wants to try doing an fb with only people a few levels higher than the fb so I always have to get higher levels to just kill everything inside while I'm stuck in the back trying not to die. Not exactly my idea of fun. Not much I can do about it though, too many people are used to having higher levels do all the work so why make it harder on themselves? Psh, wimps.b:scorn
At least I can go back every couple levels to see if I can solo it. b:pleasedMeh, saw a couple other people doing this so...

Mostly it is for your own safety. Though, I think tabbers can and should join they fun by assisting. Just start to attack when someone has aggro or keep an eye on cleric. But you can run all your fbs with well made squad as well. I would say it would be enough with 2 clerics, tank, veno and 2 DD to run your lvl fb. Just they all need to know what to do.
Want some fun in your next fb (fb59) with friends of your own lvls? Get wine as you don't need mobs in there, get two clerics (might take the third one too if you aren't too sure about your strength), get arcane robes as you need ~4k element resistances, tank bosses and have fun Just make sure you have cleric buffs on you.
I ran fb59 like that with my old guild. We didn't wine it and our squad consisted of 3 clerics, two venos and someone else and we all was close to lvl60 (+/- few lvls). We cleaned all way to the metal boss, which I nicely tanked with three clerics healing me. We didn't finish the run that day as it took too long just to clean all metal path - came back another day with wine.0 -
The problem is that no one wants to do an fb with only lower level people. I've tried asking in West Archo and by the entrance to the fb but everyone always says to wait for a higher level from their faction. If I wanted to do it with higher levels dragging me through then I'd just ask someone in my own faction for help instead (which is what usually happens after I can't find anyone willing to help without high level assistance).
Hm, I use parentheses too much (they're fun though, not enough people use them).Meh, saw a couple other people doing this so...

erm... friends? btw, why do you ask strangers if you have a guild to help? Try to befriend with your guildies more, break the ice and you will have more fun in your fbs. Sure, you maybe won't get more chances to kill, but there might a more friendly atmospher, more jokes, more fun (unless your guildies run it only for the purpose of exp)
Though, I am not much better... didn't get friends to help for few lvls, so just asked new guild for help and run my fb70 at lvl73 with players from lvl76-83 (or so). Still had fun :P got to lure some bosses away from their adds. Was fun to send my golem in, then turn and run away while seeing how my pet's hp drops in a moment. On mini map you see how the selected boss runs after you... you turn your camera and see a three or four times bigger boss trying to get close just to make a wet place out of you. Makes you want to run even faster XD When boss was dead, went to fetch the next one and story repeated.0 -
lol wait till you do FB89 if you go demon, youll see ethereal abomination whos bigger than the entire dungeon, and will make you shart your panty hose.0

Not going demon then (shame, that speed bonus for fox form was very tempting). I'm a guy by the way so it would be a bit weird for me to wear panty hose. b:embarrass

getting attention is good thing soloing them is bit boring as it means spam heal from venos. Tanking is better :P I keep adding new tankable bosses to the list. Tried Slitt few days ago - had no problems with one cleric who even didn't have to use a single pot.
Moving back to topic a bit...
I think there is more problem with boss "helpers"/"KS" than with mobs'. Mostly there are many other places where you can move to kill them. Different thing is killing bosses. Two days ago helped a friend to kill Khewy. After that noticed that there are more ppl gathering to kill it, so I just offered my help to them too. Seems there was two squads who needed Khewy. A moment after we started to kill Khewy, two BM from the other squad jumps in and starts to attack. What you would think? Are they helping to do some DD or trying to KS? I am still not sure, but they was ~20lvls lower than me and my golem has Roar, which I spamed to keep aggro too, so my squad got kill.
There are situations where you just can't be sure what they really mean - helping or trying to steal.0 -
that's why you help people that ask for it otherwise leave them to there fate0

Well answer to OP... this is the ME generation they don't tend to understand helping people since they're all about themselves, and how their problems are bigger etc... all that whiny emo ****!
As to doing FB's with people your own level. Yeah it's doable if you like using GA's and Charms and spending hours in an FB/CoD need to make sure you've got some of the best gear you can as well. It's much easier to get people around 5 levels higher to go and do it then at exact level of FB since the bosses are bigger then the level you get the quest at. Side Note: it's a bit selfish in not sharing the Reputation and XP with your faction mates. Especially if your going to be "helping others in the future".
one could say this very idea is another sign of a problem with people today... Now if after doing the FB going in and Farming it with people around your level that's different.0 -

Such high level but seems to know so little... Seems you haven't run fbs with the same level squads and only got help from higher lvls. You don't need GAs, you don't need Charms and you even don't need the best gear to do it. You simply need some skill and head on shoulders. Sure it will take more time and you can't just rush in and aggro everything. Doing it at your lvl with same lvl squad needs something more than just brute force - you need brains and skills too.
I moved to Dreamwaver server when it just opened. Run my fb19 with lvl19-23 squad - no deaths and finished fast. Run my fb29 with lvl20-32 squad (lvl20 was cleric) - no deaths too and finished fast as well. And those aren't only few cases - I helped countless fb19-29 from lvl20-34. Why? There was no high lvls who could run them for us.
Not enough yet? Ran many fb39 on this server too with low lvl40s. Nobody died too even though we had one single cleric with us. Fb51? Ran it too in early 50s. Only problem we had was at the last boss, when turned out that golem can't tank it, but lvl52(?) barb did the job quite well. fb59? mentioned already...0 -

Yeah, nowadays people are way too focused on themselves. It's unfortunate (and cliche) but I blame the media. Mainly because of shows like Sweet 16 in which people spend millions to spoil their spoiled little brats even more. Millionaires lining their own pockets while the economy is being run over like a two legged dog. Professional athletes complaining that they don't get payed enough (not much of this but the media just loves it when this happens). Those from families that are well off generally see that as the norm and act accordingly while those from poorer families that really DO have problems are forced to worry about themselves before others (this last sentence is just what I think, I'll admit that it's probably wrong).
As for the second part of your post, I just realized that it is a bit selfish but I just assumed that since I was going to be running the fb with others around my level that I'd be using one of their tabs instead and just let them have the drops (which SHOULD be really good since it's a low level squad). I do explain that to people when I'm trying to recruit for the fb and I say that I'm willing to tab if they really don't want to/don't have a tab, but only if they seem to be against tabbing themselves (that also sounds selfish now that I read it over).
Not only that, but I'm also aware that eventually (when the fb level gets closer to the max level) having higher level people to run the fb for you won't work as well and I'll be expected to help instead of just sitting on my hands in the back. I just figured that it would be better for me to learn my job at a lower level (when the exp lost isn't enough to make someone want to quit) so I don't get an entire squad killed because of some stupid mistake. Hell, I'm level 52 and I still consider myself a noob because I don't know how to effectively work in a squad with people near my level to kill bosses (regular questing is easy, just kill the mobs until you have enough of what you need). Now I need to find a way to not die against AoE bosses as a pure magic veno.
Damn, off topic again. And it seems like I'm trying to justify my actions in this. Er, no one reply to this, I'll just make a new topic later today.Meh, saw a couple other people doing this so...

One time, in another MMO, I was just standing still while talking on guild chat and someone who was fighting nearby died.
I didn't notice he was in trouble because I was doing my own thing and chatting.
Anyway, he sent me an angry tell, calling me a jerk for deliberately watching him die. Like I'm getting some sort of twisted kick out of watching other people die.
Apparently, this guy thought that since my character was facing in his general direction, that I was obviously "watching" him, lol.
Oh, and since I'm a cleric, it's my responsibility to monitor and save everyone within visual range of wherever I am.
So, you're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't.

You're kidding, right? Whenever I die then I don't really care if someone could or should have helped me. You do realize that a level 19 player running a FB, when they already have other high level characters, is not the same as someone brand new running a FB for the first time, right?
My first character took me 2 weeks of what I thought was heavy grinding to get to level 35. My second one took me 2 days to get to 35. The difference? I agree - second character is easier, but seems most of new characters are alts anyway. As for fb39+, they was done with my first character (this one). I completely agree with you about speed of lvling as I have seen the difference with my alts as well.
Just don't underestimate new players. Some are smarter than you think.
@OMGLAZERZ - someone used your siggy in their post again and seems hinted about it being meaningful too. Are you going to change it again? :P0 -

It is not about underestimating them as much as not raising their expectation to a point that becomes not realistic. When dealing with new players I prefer to assume they are brand new than to assume they are uber experienced 1337 players and getting them killed. For example, my alt had very good gear, worth 2-3mil+, that was a reason I leveled so fast and could do things with it that most normal players cant. It would be unrealistic for the new players to assume they would be able to spend a couple of mil at level 19 to get gear that they will outgrow in 5-10 levels.
If the low level character I am helping is an alt, most likely they will let me know.Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures.
