Overpriced Shards?

I've noticed that prices of Shards in the AH in Heaven's Tear is ridiculously high. At the time of this post there is a Common Citrine Shard for 25k and another for 40k. These prices are so freaking stupid that I'm guessin the owners were probably smoking something strong when they decided to put it out. Here's a general guide on how much Shards are worth according to their price from the Merchant and combined price from Jewelcraftsman who are available in every city and combine your shards for free.
Shabby - 530
Rough - 1590
Blemished - 4770
Common - 14.310
Average - 57.240
Beautiful - 228,960
Flawless - 915,840
Immaculate - 4,579,200
Perfect - 22,896,000
Incomparable - 114,480,000
Gem - 686,880,000
Stone - 4,121,280,000

But basically you'll probably only see Blemished to Average shards in the AH at this moment. I'd determine the value of the shards to about 90% of their value when manually made. So Blemished should be around 4300. Common around 12800 and Average around 51500.

To get the shards through combination you simple find the Jewelcraftsman present in every major city and select the "Combine" option, after that you just upgrade the stones grade to grade until you reached the desired level. Shabby shards, the lowest grade, can be bought from Merchants in the "Gem" Tab.

Number of Shabby Gems required to create 1 of x Quality shard:
Rough - 3
Blemished - 9
Common - 27
Average - 108
Beautiful - 432
Flawless - 1728
Immaculate - 8640
Perfect - 43,200
Incomparable - 216,000
Gem - 1,296,000
Stone - 7,776,000

Though to get to Stone grade may take you quite a bit of time, if you can somehow afford it :P

Have to agree but you have tons of greedy immature boys playing this game. They feel they can set a price and someone will buy it. They either hope they can scam someone or somehow they can corner the market and attempt to price fix the market. Or most likely they are just stupid and will themselves end up getting scammed.

This also happens with anything that drops and can also be purchased from the shop. Not sure why people don't see the direct relationship between the gold price and cost of these materials. I could see the value placed on something like leather if you only look at the effort to farm it directly but you also have to consider farming coin to get it indirectly via the cash shop.

Someone must be getting scammed all the time in this game or people would tire of putting up shops and getting no sales eventually.

Also, if you use the Jewelcraftsman you get a few points of exp for each shard combination, so if you are completely loaded you can totally powerlevel a new character by crafting your self some shards. :P

Players are very, very greedy most of the time and will price scam every chance they get. On gold prices I'm watching them try it now. Don't let them, do not buy their crazy prices!

You'd get 18,684,294 XP points and 6,228,098 SP and would take 2 days to combine o.O

Joking about the combining time but making a Flawless gem from scratch the other day took about 30 mins. I knew I shouldn't have done it in West Archo...

(Edit: actually its not that much as i just divided the total amount of shabbies by 3 but I forgot about how you need 4 commons for an average and so on. But still a lot nonetheless)

It's not the game's economy, it's just the inexperience of players leading to many people exploiting the prices of things.

Well today I saw 5 Common Garnet shards going at 30k and 1 at 25k. This is ridiculous, I don't like bumping threads but more people need to be made aware of real shard prices. Spread this to your guildies people!

I think you need at least Average Shards to make things glow, but I could be wrong. At the rate of 6 exp per combination, creating a stone would give you 9,396,726 exp, which is enough to get to you level 64 82%. Making 2 stones (To get your equipment to glow) will get you from level 1 to 74!

Shard prices are still stupidly high, 45k for common shards is just stupid.

this is just the most greedy, money driven game i've ever played. sure other games can get pretty money driven as well but not like this game. buying and selling are the only thing people do on this game, in my opinion. it kills me how nobody seems to talk. every other game i've played, you go into town and there's lots of conversation going on but not in PWI. that's the way it seems to me at least.

but definitely the shards thing is just annoying. i see the craziest prices for common and average all the time. and those players selling rough and shabby gems for the crazy stone quest get on my nerves so bad. somebody was trying to sell shabbys for like, 1.5k the other day and some stupid person will probably buy them.

I've been working on figuring out the right price to sell items at, based on item base price and NPC selling price.
The item's base price (in player's inventory) is 20% of the items real price. Weapons and Gear looks to be 48% (work in progress).

Here is a price list for Shards: (item / base $ / sell $)
    Shabby Shard - $100 - $530
    Rough Shard - $200 - $1,000
    Blemished Shard - $350 - $1,750
    Common Shard - $550 - $2,750
    Average Shard - $800 - $4,000
    Beautiful Shard - $1,100 - $5,500
    Flawless Shard - $1,800 - $9,000
    Immaculate Shard- $2,500 - $12,500
    Perfect Shard - $3,600 - $18,000
    Incomparable Shard - $5,000 - $25,000
    Gem - $10,000 - $50,000
    Stone - $20,000 - $100,000
    Diamond of Tiger - $50,000 - $250,000
    Diamond of Dragon - $50,000 - $250,000

Nonono, the economics of the game are too complet to be defined like that. Those prices are way off anyways. Different items have different buy and sell values from NPCs, there isn't a exact formular to what their real value is. For example the tablets from Justice envoys are worth 95% of the price you buy them for from the NPC while things like high level gems are worth a lot less to a NPC.

Gear is worth 50% of full NPC sell price because when mobs drop them they are at 50% durability, this halves their NPC value.

i've seen a level 40 veno with full legendary armour with 4 immaculate gems in each so from PWI's point of view if people are stupid enough to pay the money then why not, they will never lower prices until people stop paying which will never happen

So her armour cost's more money than she probably will ever make in the game I don't particularly like CS games i prefer P2P With PWI people are not actually playing the game at all they pay for scarlet fruit to level to 40 then pay for mirages to level in cube I've seen level 70+ that have no idea where anything is or how to play. So if people are spending thousands of dollars to do this then the people that do pay make up for the people that refuse to because they say it's to high

I wonder what this guys was smoking when he put that auction up...

Now I have little experience with PW's Auction House, but in your example it looks like the 55,000 is what some idiot was willing to 'BID' for the shard. What relationship does that have to the player's 'reasonable' expection of the item selling (55,000 is not reasonable, and I am not saying it is). In most auction systems the seller sets 'minimum bid'.
Perhaps the greatest secret to getting along with others lies in learning to respect their opinion(s) even while you disagree with them.

It is either someone paying an insane amount, or the starting bid the seller put.

That is the starting price, you can see as I've highlighted it and my bid amount is the same as the starting price, meaning the starting bid has not been met. Seriously though, that is a common shard at the price of a Average shard from the NPC.

I have to laugh at people's inability to do math.. I mean I had someone call me crazy today because I want to sell 2 perfect shards for 7M each.

now, beautiful shards sell for 120-180k (or cost 228k based on your chart).. and it takes 100 beautiful shards to make a perfect.. which would put the value at 12-18M (22M if you made it from scratch)..

so, I'm selling it for 1/2-2/3 it's actual value.. and people think I'm crazy?

We could all learn a lot from crayons, some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names (like chartreuse), and all are different colors....BUT they ALL exist very nicely in the same box!
