Deciding on a Server

Hi I can not quite decide on what server I want to play on not sure If I will miss something or not be able to play my style becuase I have a wrong build set up. I am a PvX layer I enjoy both but will tend to go were people are having fun.

What is the differences between PvE and PvP servers. yes I know one has mass killing.

1.Is there some form of PvP in the PvE servers?

2.What is there to do in the PvE servers such as dungeons, raids, quests,
and so on?

3.Waht is there to do in a PvP server? Or is it just a pure slaughter?

Hello revy,

Welcome to Perfect World International.

The primary difference between a PVP and PvE server is the open world PvP rules.

On a PvP server, once you reach level 30, anyone level 30 and above can attack you whenever you are outside of town.

On a PvE server, once you reach level 30, you have the option of PvPing by flipping your PvP flag or switch.

Territory Wars is available on both PvE and PvP servers, as are dungeons. I hope this answers most of your questions.

Basically, PvE server is for if you feel like you've accomplished something by beating the computer-controlled NPCs, PvP server is for if you're not a moron, and want to kill other people, which is ofc, the fun part about this game.

Haven't been on the PvE server, but I'd imagine all the grind spots would be taken by carebears with PK turned off so you can't evict them, and pretty much everyone just Bear-Staring all mobs to death cuz nobody wants to fight except those with phoenixes.

I'm sure it'd be uh.. A great challenge to play PvE. Then again, you could test your skills against some of the other PEOPLE, instead of COMPUTER PROGRAMS, but hey, whatever floats your boat, right?

PvP server isn't a full-on slaughterhouse.. Which it kind-of should be, but some people want "alliances" and "teamwork" when the only teamwork should be within your own guild, maneuvering for supremacy.

Basically, if you think that teaming up with someone and killing computer-controlled monsters all day is your cup of tea, then go PvE. If you're a coffee fan, Lost City awaits...

You wonder why we don't like LC players? You just showed why in your post. Lets not forget that you guys will do everything you can to get more players there just to pk more low levels. You'll always say you don't do that just to get players there so you can do exactly what you say you don't do.

Have fun vs. the computer monstars, I'm sure they're a real challenge to defeat, perhaps once you win the game you can show me the end cinematic. Oh wait. This is a MMO, not Diablo.

Macros your overall attitude was really not needed and does far more damage to LC's rep than it does good. Most PVE players consider Lost City players to be a bunch of arrogant, pathetic losers that get off on griefing low levels because they are at heart, bullies. Your post just backed that up 100%.

The only real difference between the PVP server and the PVE servers are that on the PVP server low levels play hell leveling past 30 thanks to the high levels farming them for lols and standings (I killed 400 lvl 30's today yuk yuk... And me only lvl 60), and PVE servers generally have players with greater intelligence, wisdom and compassion.

And uh.. I couldn't really give two sh!7s about LC's "rep" ... The people who care about "rep" aren't the people we want on this server, "rep" means nothing on the intarweb... That's YET another carebear term to try and make you feel better because.. You care.

And I take this gem of a sentence..

Statements like this make me laugh. You can keep your "intelligent", wise and compassionate people on the PvE server, where their wisdom can be used to thwart the Wraiths evil plans of Perfect World Domination... Meanwhile I'll just look for a fight.. A real one.. Where the enemies are capable of (SHOCK HORROR) thought, and (SHOCK HORROR AGAIN!) adaption, rather than simply attacking the person who's agroing them the most.

Honestly, you may as well play a single player game.

I'll say join the Lost City. Macros and Deumos will see to it personally that your fun would never end, just make sure to give your player name to them.
I'm sure other servers cannot come even close to what they and their friends have stored for you.

You meet pple that will be willing to disturb others like this on a PvP server. PvE server you will actually meet pple that respect the first-come-first-serve manners in certain situations.

PvE is a normal server, the pple are the same as anywhere else. Battling others is just done with the consent of both sides. But at the same time you cant PK rude *******s.
PvP also a normal server, but u risk having pple kill u just for their 'fun'. (aka; *******s like to PK you) Its a nice place to grow your online pixelated e-peen for sure.

If your looking for a fight go enlist in the army, airforce, or marines ...A REAL one... unless your one of those indoor pale mushrooms that are just happy breathing with the internet infront of them and dreams of online grandeur b:chuckle
Been there done that and there is absolutely NOTHING fun about seeing enemies face with (SHOCK HORROR) as you put it, in the army. I'll admit its disturbing seeing little boys thinking its fun to do that, even on the net, tucked safe away in their house.

What if they're 50 levels higher than you? And/ Or have a group of buddies come after you every time they know where you are?

Are you going to grind all day everyday hoping to catch up to that person and their buddies in levels? Because if you don't it seems you'd be pretty much screwed.

PvP - LostCity server, is pretty good because it's more challenge based..When your 30+ you can get PKd at any given second..So it's a survival thing, Im sure the higher levels dont go camp lvl 30s all day .. But if you want a challenge and some fun go to LC..If your not gonna QQ each death or spam WC with how you got owned/ganked n they are nerds ect.. another thing is LC Has ALOT Of cash shoppers compared to other servers, so of course.. they have good gear..And theres the matter of gaurdian angel costs/bound items..you'll figure that out.

PvE -HeavensTear server, no challenge at all, its laid back really and people only QQ Bout TW/Ganked in SP..Not many cashshoppers I'd say, the few that CS Telecoustics ect..Is there a real challenge? nahh..you can white name 30-70+ n get killed 10 times basically..why? cuz everyone hides in secret passage ..lame pkers.. but you save alot off gaurdian angels ect..

Sanctuary I unno if they even have pkers..they jus hug n stuff n try to be a good server unno lame tbh..

More or less whatever floats your boat mmo rpgs started as a way to bring people together in an online enviroment so PVE and PVP have been part of it from the beggining pick a server if you dont like it simply switch if you like more roleplaying baced gaming and yes enjoy killing AI controlled monsters thats fine,b:pleased on the other side anyone who ticks you of in any way can do so with no punishment on the other hand theres pvp servers some people prefer that "risk" when grinding at any given moment they can be killed by another player or simply the roleplaying aspect of the game is of smaller consern to them and they simply want to level and be the best for their own reasons im assuming their reason is fun just like any other person who plays games at the end of the day its just a game carebears or not and the constant fighting over which server is the best is just pointless really..lol but it is entertaining to just watch people duke it out in the forums b:laughb:victory

cant we just agree we have different playing styles and stop this LC vs pvm servers fight?
pvm servers have been around since UO split its land into falluca and trammel, there has always been people who prefer pvp and people who dont like to be FORCED to be in pvp
on a pvm server you can choose to be in pvp mode, but then you are choosing to partake in that activity, on a pvp server you cant choose to be pvm .. if someone wants to kill you then you have no choice but to defend (being forced into doing something you might not want to do)

I personally have nothing against pvp'ers, I CHOOSE not to partake in pvp because of my play style, call me a carebear i been called one for over 10 years i dont really care, but the "we are better" additude is just silly (from both sides)

You don't like the idea of someone killing you in real life? Then don't kill them in a game. Kill the wrong person and they may very well kill you in real life....watch out for them.

Yeah, except you're forgetting that there ARE rules against hurting and killing in real life. Also, there's something called morality. Morality means you can recognize the negative consequences of your actions and thus decide not to act in that way. What exactly are the super important negative consequences of dying in a game?

1) Your pride is hurt.
2) You get angry.
3) You lose some experience points and time.
4) You lose some ingame items that were obtained either through time or money.

I'm not saying that those equate to nothing, but they definitely do not equate to "killing in real life." Killing someone in this game is pretty much like annoying someone in real life, except by choosing a PVP server you tacitly agreed to it.

How people act in a game is a direct connection to how they act in real life. Been proven over and over. All the MMO's I've played prove, no one gives a **** about anyone other than themselves. They don't care if they ruin the entire world as long as it benefits them (the recent coin bug for example). "**** you all, only I matter" is the general way humans think. It makes me very sick thinking about.
