Falls' Guide to Getting through a Skewed Economy

I write this guide to anyone who suddenly finds the number of coins in their bag isn't enough to afford even the character's grind (BMs mainly in Sanctuary xD). You can choose to follow some or all of these steps, and either way its guaranteed to help b:victory, or you can take the GM's guarantee that they will fix the economy. Choose wisely xD!
1. Tell someone close to you to hide your credit card, or if you have no one then it might be time to cut it up. I know, I know, you can still buy prepaid cards and the like, but that requires the effort to get off your lazy behind and will prevent you from indulging in impulsive spending b:thanks. It should go without saying that you should not spend any money on this game until you feel that the economy is back to normal.
2. Stop playing PWI, either altogether or partially. Keep in mind that Crazy Stone and World Quest are still the same "price" even to your devalued coins, so if you are taking a break until this all calms down, then I suggest you still do the dailies. In the meantime, you can try to find a game where you feel the service is adequate. It is commonly understood that in subscription games, the company has less of a motivation to be greedy with every action/decision, since their money is already "in the bank".
3. If you insist on playing PWI, there is only one class that you should even consider playing with...yes, you guessed it...Venomancer. Not just any Veno, but a budget Veno ;D. I recommend:
~Full Magic build, which will minimize the number of both heals and attack spells you will need to cast in grinding/TT.
~The 2 BEST, most WONDERFUL, cost effective pets in the game are a must in these trying times, so pick yourself up a Petite Sawfly and a Crystalline Magnemite. Don't even think about Hercules or Phoenix, they will steal your lunch money and give it to PWI.
~Do not pay for any Fox Form Skills as you won't even need them in this Budget Build. Also, when it comes to skills don't take any of your main attack skills past Level 4. This will allow you to grind without any potions at all, and because giving coins to the NPC is the same as giving your money to PWI, I suggest you avoid it like the plague. To say the least, the HP and MP recharge skills are fantastic in avoiding using potions.
4. Never, ever, PvP. This is easy enough if you are on Sanctuary, and from what I understand Lost City's economy wasn't too hard hit by this anyways, so this shouldn't be a problem. To add to this, don't ever do DT, and don't TW if you expect resistance. Both of those can be monumental wastes of time and coin.
5. Do not do the Cube of Fate. Easy XP in exchange for money is all this is, but in hard times it is more important to prioritize money. You don't know when the next time will be that PWI decides to ruin a server's economy, so save your coin.
6. Obviously, do not consider buying any boutique items from other players. It is the same as supporting the Cash Shop. It will require some discipline to rid yourself of the jealousy, from seeing other players with their fancy items, but just remember that all those are just big "red flags" that read; "I'm either a sucker, or a scammer/exploiter".
7. And most importantly, next time you see a bug or exploit available, tape your credit card back up, use a bit of care, and find a way to get yourself 50 million coin for 20$ (If you need more information on how this is done I can provide it later). That is a bargain that we coin conscious players can't afford to ignore. Don't worry, so long as you payed some cash for bugged coins, even if it exploits the game and other players, the GMs will let it stand.
That completes the guide (for now),

Yep, good guide dude!0

lol Well said and let me thank you for this well thought out guide."Let not your outrage for injustice end where your selfishness begins"0

lol no fox form skills no herc = no good TT, and thats where the easy money is,not to mention good gear
you can have a high budget if you can farm the money in game and never charge0 -
LOL nice guide *claps*
ill definitely follow step 7. i was one of the stupid... i mean honest persons who tought it would be wrong to do it, but know that i know its ok for gm, its ok for me too0 -

It doesn't really work that way. Firstly you would need to invest 25 million...LOL...I mean 50 million now in Sanctuary for just the Hercules (How many TT runs is that?) Trust me, if I make the 50 million coins then the Budget Veno is a total and complete success right then and there xD. Its easier to level your character to higher levels before you try the TTs with a Bear, that you can just catch yourself, and you avoid the Cash Shop altogether.
Secondly, using a Budget Veno to sell TT items is working within the bad economy, the assumption being that you can't trust those who bought the TT items, because they might have used the Cash Shop/supported PWI to get their coin. That is exactly what I am trying to avoid here b:kiss.
All money earned from a budget Veno should come from the free grinding.
Additionally, you don't need Fox Skills as I have explained you do not PvP. PvP must be the single greatest waste of resources in game. You don't need good gears, all white is fine for a long long time.0 -

Lucky I got a veno
Saved 10 mil and thought I will get my Herc very soon since I can start soloing TT but.. b:cry0 -
I disagree with the comment on the Cube. Every single time I've gone on a Cube run, I've come out with a profit. Hint: Sell the Golden Boxes you'll get for around 220k (average HT price). The Cube does require a large initial investment (HP charm, tons of Mirage Stones and Dice Tickets), but you pay it off within a run or two if you know what you're doing.0
-
To the poster above READ THE GUIDE, charm = boutique item. Falls is trying to discourage use of cash shop items so your not supporting a game that in turn doesnt support the players.
Example : Screwed economy and rich players who used or supported those using the glitch to make major coin.0 -

i easily earned 25mil from free grinding, and then a easy 25mil+ from TTs, herc can pay itself back in literally 2 weeks, even less depending how you play
and fox form skills are used for TT is what i said , not only pvp ffs, even fi you dont solo it/do it to sell but go on runs to have good gear
if you want **** gear and/or not to work within the economy.. WTF IS THE POINT OF A MMO? go play a single player RPG?0 -

First off, relax.
Secondly, my motivations for playing are my own, and I don't give a **** what you think about them. If I don't want to pay a single penny, or want to make sure that I never support PWI in any way because I feel that way as a consumer, that is up to me. What if I don't want to leave the people I have met playing the game, yet I feel that what PWI has done is ****? (Good enough reason for me, not that I had to give it)
Lastly, what do you use Fox Skills in TT for?0 -
Well first of all one veno using maxed amp dmg shartens a battle by around 13% and using purge is pretty handy on the ape boss. . . not that you'll ever be able to solo the ape boss but just saying it is useful there.
That said still a fine guide, thanks Falls!"Let not your outrage for injustice end where your selfishness begins"0 -

That is what I what was thinking, that there is no way I would have time for a de-buff using non-cash shop pets.0 -
Sweet!!
Been looking for something like this to help me with my complete lack of understanding of economics.
Thanks. It's as I have always said, "You can get more results with a kind word and a big stick, than you can with merely a kind word."

Nice, Falls, and I do agree for the most part... but the fact is, if everyone decides to be frugal and boycott the cash shop... what's in it for PWI? I mean, it's a f2p game, which we can all agree that we enjoy (otherwise, why are you even reading this?), so in boycotting the cash shop, we are basically saying to PW, "we'll play your game, but we expect to spend nothing." That's asking for trouble in economics. However, as far as the individual goes, this is a good idea in the short run.0
-
good topic. yeah be honest you can do this with the veno. like full int build. just max the first skill (and maybe iron wood) level pet heals. That's it. Then distribute all other gold to you main b:pleased that's what I may do soon. Especially if I may give in and buy some of the new fashion set.0

Ok, uh... either everything in your post was just dripping with sarcasm, in which case you are a fabulously adept troll, or this is... uh wow.
I really, really want to believe that you didn't just decide to write up a thread on how to practically boycott PWI's entire economy because of a glitch that people panicked over like Y2K (and which ultimately had about as much impact). I want to believe it. But I'm having trouble... -_-[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Yes, I'm still a stubborn holdout in favor of the old game. Haters gonna hate. ;]

Lol. Overreact much? I don't think anyone would follow this to the letter--if anything, it's a good reminder about how much people spend in the game and where you can minimize your dependence on gold and coin. I myself even considered manufacturing all my equipment and farming the materials needed for it... only it isn't very realistic.0 -

Great guide, this is exactly what I'm doing =] I'm actually spending more time on my veno than my cleric now Just hit 57 with her, 3 more to go and hello TT. Seeing I don't think I used more than 20 pots altogether up to this point, I actually make cash for a change from normal grinding (more than enough to cover for my clerics charms). And I get to keep hundreds of dollars for other stuff. Win-win.b:victoryb:pleasedb:dirty0

i'd like to know how many people remember pw-my. where panthers were 8-12 million unspurred. and cash shop gold sold for 300-500k. personally the higher in-game prices make a bit more sense to me. i would feel a lot better atually buying cash shop stuff if it was actually worth somethign ingame. the npc horse sucks and costs 2.5 mil. right now yu never see them because the cash shop mounts are far better and half the price. besides give ti a years worth of everyone grinding we'll get high priced eventually anyway so whats the big deal.0

I don't know about you guys but I have barely noticed the inflation ... gold is back down to a reasonable price although a bit higher than before the glitch ..
I don't understand what people expected from the GMs .. it was a lose lose situation for them no matter what .. if they had rolled back y'all would be on here complaining about items/drops/exp lost in the roll back ... a roll back was pretty much impossible because they couldn't have refunded all the money that people rushed out to buy in order to gain off the exploit..
I think the GMs handled it pretty well considering the situation although it would have been nice for a speedier response and shut down of the server .. This is a free to play game and is still in beta as far as I know
For the record I'm not defending the decision because I got rich off it.. I didn't make a dime and it really does suck that people did .. but I still think the GMs could have handled it much worse and the economy is still in a decent position0 -
Jup I go With all that Devarsi said... Rollback would have sucked because I gained 2 levels in that Time...0

First thanks for the long post. Evening hours at work are lazy and it certainly gives something to read.Falls - Sanctuary wrote: »I write this guide to anyone who suddenly finds the number of coins in their bag isn't enough to afford even the character's grind (BMs mainly in Sanctuary xD). Ok so far so good. You're LV80+ so I guess you know what you're doing.1. Tell someone close to you to hide your credit card, or if you have no one then it might be time to cut it up. I just never activated my credit card. Still in drawer.2. Stop playing PWI, either altogether or partially. Umm I think your emotions have overcame your senses. You're blaming the company for players have lot of coins. Company sells their stuff for zen (gold)
Catshop players and NPC's sell their stuff for coins. NPC prices (company responsibility) are still the same as yesterday are they not? Catshop player prices (individual responsibility) may have gone higher in some areas.
I know i'm just a lowly LV62 but i came long way to get here and I'm not gonna change game just because I'm jealous that some ppl have more coins than me. Or whatever the reason is. If you have coins - good it is chance for me to get something sold since quite few players have no monetary issues for a while. So no that advice will not work for me.3. If you insist on playing PWI, there is only one class that you should even consider playing with...yes, you guessed it...Venomancer. Not just any Veno, but a budget Veno ;D. I recommend:
Negative. I like being male in RL and I like play male characters in game too.
That advice will not work for me. I already found the way to overcome grinding crises when I hit 60+ and solution works fine. if there's another grinding crises (situation where you don't seem to level fast enough for mobs you're supposed to grind at your level) coming in LV80+. Challenge accepted.6.
I know it's not true. You know it's not true. So why are you saying all this?
You came as far as LV80+ for cryin out loud. What happened to you? Yes it require discipline to rid yourself from jealousy so...rid yourself from it.7. And most importantly, next time you see a bug or exploit available,
tape your credit card back up, use a bit of care, and find a way to get yourself 50 million coin for 20$ (If you need more information on how this is done I can provide it later). You do realize that quite few of Sanctuary players come from countries where credit card was considered luxury item just a few years ago? You may as well tell them to not buy Bentley cars or Tiffany jewelry. Don't worry they won't.
Especially now when economy has fallen back to the level it was back then where credit card was a luxury.
So now you tell through sarcasm them to go out there and exploit the next system bug? is that it? You weren't there or didn't understand when it happened and now you're jealous? You could have been millionaire now and you missed your chance?
However you're right there always will be next system bug as certainly as there never shall be a perfect op system for PC.
Anyway thanx for giving me something to read and do Will start going home soon.0 -

So the whole argument of "we legit players are suffering under inflation" really doesn't make sense - this is a small and temporary inconvenience. Seeing as this is still a free to play game (which I wouldn't mention except some people in this thread seem to need reminding), most of us are still getting way more than we paid for.
But what do I know, it's human nature to pick out the negatives... so if the economy dies of paranoia, than just throw me a cardboard box to live in and a few focus powders and I'll be fine.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Maybe the rich are just waiting for the prices to go down again? Guess not. :P
They indeed gained influence like you never will in the same short while, if you aren't one of them.
But you can just forget about them if you are gonna play the game just how you write here, Falls. It sounds like a kind of solo play you know.
Playing a veno is fastest way how to make money but other classes can do good too. They are just few times worse in making money than veno.
Money, money, money... why do you still care about the money?0
