Ok I'm pretty pissed at the moment.
I am lvl 20 archer. When I was lvl 10, I had 50k.
Now I am lvl 20, I had 35k, now down to 7k after doing that lame **** quest DQ.
Is it supposed to be like this? Losing money and what idiot created the dragon quest? I am close to just starting again.
-_-

If spending money on DQ makes you lose money, then just don't buy your way through a DQ. Hunt the items or spend time killing the monster.0
-
uhhhh..dq's are money hogging quest or u can grind the items when needed instead of buyingthem..yeah it takes a while but if your not rich then thats the way to go.Its not the games fault you spend 2k+ in dq items its your fault for being lazy.ALso its a quest not a hop skip and a jump.I quit doing dq's due to their expense rather do my lvl 70 daily world quest and this new years quest and tou jo (crazy stone) in wich all = out to close to 300k perday exp hehe..yeah they are long but woth it...beats a dq anyday.I luv my luvsalotb:dirty
Fear Me:I will and can unleash my true demon forum troll from at anytime..so beware.

Where is your money going? Are you paying for teleports that you can't afford? Are you buying the DQ items you need, instead of hunting for them yourself? Are you not bothering to loot your kills because each one is worth so little? A bit of thrift is necessary to keep you from going broke, and if you're good at planning and saving, your character can get rich pretty quickly (although admittedly, of all the character classes i've played, archers are the most expensive to maintain).0
-
No I pick up everything mobs drop. I sold 4 mirage stones today and now only have 7k left.
Yes I bought the DQ items because I ain't spending the rest of my life getting 15k exp reward, and didn't know how long it went on for.
Then there is money for hp+mp pots, arrows to, wtf is archer supposed to be this hard? You Cannot Kill, What You Did Not Create.0 -
A simple rule about quests:
If you buy items for quests, you lose money. If you kill mobs and loot the items you need, you gain money.
That's all there is to it.
...and as far as 'didn't know how long it went on for', that just means you didn't read the description at the start. It clearly states that each DQ has 10 steps (or, at least it did when i got started; i yield that they may have stripped that out as part of the 'localization' over the past few patches, but i doubt it).0 -
Judging by that last post, I guess you're impatient.
Well I don't know how much mirage celestones sell for on the LC market, don't ever NPC them. So maybe you sold them for too little?
If you plan to DQ ever again, take the time to kill some mobs. In the end, DQ would give you more than 15k exp. The first DQ is only a prologue. After the first DQ, each DQ will be about 10 steps (at least it's what it has been for me recently):
1. Talk to NPC
2. Collect items for NPC
3. Talk to NPC
4. Kill monsters/pay NPC
5. Collect items for NPC
6. Collect items for NPC
7. Talk to NPC
8. Collect items for NPC
9. Talk to NPC
10. Kill a mini-boss and talk to DQ director
Doing DQ requires patience as you kill monsters, collect drops, and flying around.
You could also save money by using meditation instead of buying pots. I only use pots if it's an emergency and running low on HP or MP in mid battle.
As for arrows/bolts/shots, you can try crafting them or asking them from other players. Some players don't even bother picking them up.0 -

Oki... I've seen this quote frequently, and i fail to understand it.
I understand that by "Less QQ", you mean "Play the game as it is, and if you don't like it, don't play - but by God, please DON'T point out things that could be improved, coz I can't adapt to improvements if they happen to be implemented."
However, I can't fathom at all why you want to stink up the place... unless "Pew" has some obscure meaning other than 'That smells really bad'.0 -
It comes from the emote Q_Q which is 2 eyes crying.
Pew Pew is the sound of somebody firing back.
It translates into : " Stop crying and fight back ! "
It's a very disparaging statement implying that crybabies should grow or uninstall.
Although I agree that this quote should be specifically used in the context of PvP/PK or even PvE, because you can't possibly fight back a bug or design flaw ... =\
I don't remember where it came into trend. Lineage maybe, or WoW.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
from what im reading, this isnt about a bug, this is about the OP complaining over losing money doing something he could have easily avoided, and then coming onto the forums and crying about it....Less QQ more Pew Pewb:thanks

Oki... Thanks for the explaation...
That said, i've tried every phonetic interpretation of "Pew Pew" i could possibly imagine, and can't come up with anything that sounds like fighting back with any weapon i know of... any further help on this? Thanks.0 -
pew pew originated from FPS games. as pew pew was the sound the guns made....Less QQ more Pew Pewb:thanks

ah, oki... extremely odd sound for a gun to make. Don't think i've ever seen (heard) one do that. What kind of gun makes a sound like that?0

It's like the laser guns of any sci-fi space movie/series. Think, blaster guns from Star Wars.

For once (and I can't believe I am actually saying this!) I fully agree with Sticky.
If ever "less QQ and more PewPew" was more appropriate, I haven't have found it yet.
The OP is obviously from the generation of instant gratification, refusing to work through the mechanics of a quest, instead buying his/her way to the end (and ironically, losing all the exp that could have been gained). DQ isn't supposed to be compared to "kill a certain number of mobs and get a reward" type quest.
Just in case you were interested in some advice on how to make them more efficient: Pick up the DQ, when you get to the part where you need items, go do other quests. Don't think about the items. Chances are, when you get done with other quests, you will have many of the items you needed for the DQ without even trying.
Also, as you get higher level, don't pick up lower level DQs unless you want to buy the items as the drop rate on mobs more than 10 levels lower than you is almost non-existent.
That being said...

That's not true for the Dragon Quest quests. The copper dragon orders sell to players for about 25k. The silver dragon orders sell for about 200k-250k. Let's just say 250k to try to make things as favorable as possible for the Dragon Quests.
The level 20 DQs require 20 items with a merchant price of 800 each. 20*800 = 16k, maybe a little more once you factor in travel costs. The reward is a copper dragon order worth 25k, so they are worth it.
The level 30 DQs require 30-40 items with a merchant price of 1350 each. [30 or 40]*1350 = 40.5k - 54k. For a reward that sells for 25k, they just aren't worth it. Sell the DQ items and buy the copper dragon orders from other players.
The level 40 DQs require 30-40 items that I've seen so far, with a merchant price of 1700 each. That's 51k-68k. The reward is a copper order 80% of the time, silver order 20% of the time. This averages out to a 70k return (250k*20% + 25k*80%). You also get 36k exp and 7.5k spirit, so they might be worth it.
The level 60 DQs require 60 items with a merchant price of 2500 each. That's 150k. They result in a copper order 60% of the time, a silver order 40% of the time. Calculate as above and you get an average return of 115k. Monetarily not worth it. The 65k exp and 13.4 spirit may make it worth it for some.
The level 70 DQs I don't have much info about. Picking one at random, it's 140 items with a merchant price of 2900 each. That's 406k. But they result in a silver order 90% of the time, and a gold order 10% of the time. Again, questionable in value, though I don't know how much the gold orders sell for. Working backwards, if the silvers are worth 250k each, the golds would have to sell for over 1.81 million to make these worthwhile. Otherwise you're better off selling the items and buying the orders. You get 84k exp and 17.3 spirit for these.
It's gonna be months or years before I hit 80+ so someone else can figure those out.

no, seriously, now that i finaly know what QQ pew, pew means - I can agree with Sicky and the others - man, I would rather spend an afternoon loking for items than buy it at a hefty price.. you are insane.. or really rich and spoiled in RL, but thats your problem, not mine..[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

My advice is that there are plenty of quests without the need to do DQ's and beat youor head against a wall. Do the regular quests and make some loot, and you will aquire most DQ items by default and hit them as you do. I had a concern too about how much you are selling Mirages for, if its under 20,000, you're throwing them away.0

I agree in this case. However, I've usually seen "QQ" used by people who know how to exploit a poorly designed game mechanic for personal advantage, as an admonition to stop complaining about it, out of fear that it'll be fixed and make the person saying "QQ" actually have to play on fair and unexploitable terms.0 -

even when ur 90+ u still cant be rich, unless u spend time in arco w / AH and make deals
or if u charge money to the game
the only class that shouldnt have money problem is veno, they can pretty much farm all their gear, and farm HH / FBS solo for profitA patch full of glitch,
Makes my eyes twitch.
Should i continue playing this game or switch,
because this is a serious problem and not a simple itch.
Some bug abusing noob gets rich,
While a honest players get the ditch.
Please rollback if you wanna enrich,
or this game would just be a ****

Thas what I did...I had 100k at lvl10 :x
Only took me a couple hours longer to get to lvl10 than it might have otherwise, but was totally worth it...money is easy-pickin' since then. lvl30 and in an unneccesarily hp+ socketed set ^^0 -

That doesn't mean you were a good troll.
Its really sad though that you think it is something to be proud of.
And that ends my 'discussion' with you on trolling. Thanks for participating.
@Serjah
I charge money and I'm still not rich! b:cry
There are just too much to buy in game. I do however buy stuff that can make me game money and spend the profit on cash stuff that will yield no profit whatsover.
But then again .... I do support 3 characters. That would teach me to play more than 1 char. b:sadPhoenix plume count: 2450 b:sad
