Which build has the max damage?

Is it spear or axe or something else?

On DPS, I think it's all generally the same. Some build with high Agi can deal more DPS via critical hits though.
IMHO, I think a Spear with Agi as high as a Sword build has the most damage. At level 50s I can outdamage level 70 Venomancer.0 -
Thanks a lot for your answer. I want to a good tank paired with a cleric. So I assume I'd better wear heavy armor. In order to hold the aggo well, I need to generate the most aggo by DPS + skill. I got some feedback from this forum that axe build is the best for this. But after doing my own reseach, it seems that axe does not have the max DPS. Its advantage is stun. I don't know if an axe build can best fit my requirement here. Any inputs are welcome.0

Since I need to wear heavy armor, the weapon options left to me seem to be only axe and spear. I don't have many dex points to max the DPS of sword or fist anymore.0

Axe BM (highest natural damage) and DEX Spear BM (high damage with many criticals) are the ones who deal the most damage.0

Lyndura, thanks a lot for your information. Is the "highest natural damage" you mentioned the dps from weapons only? But axe's damage spans a larger range than spear, so its DPS (damage per second) is not guaranteed to win. Also when I compare the same level skills for spear and axe, spear's skills always win. One factor I don't know exactly in the skill description is how the base physical damage is calculated in game. Is this base physical damage the average of the weapon damage, the max weapon damage, or the min weapon damage? Your comments are highly appreciated.
Edit: More than what I wrote above, the skills in the spear/pole tree is more mana efficient compared with the axe tree. So my current conclusion is that spear/pole can output more damage compared with axe. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.0 -

RayRay, you have confused us in a series of posts because you are using the term "tank" when it sounds like what you really want is to be an effective partner in a team with a cleric. That is not really the same thing.
Tanks can serve as tanks even when just doing PvE grinding in a squad. But, what really sets that role apart is when it comes to bosses or the kind of elite mobs where you have to have a squad and you need a tank to hold aggro for a longer (possibly much longer) time so everybody else can do their specific jobs.
To be an effective partner to a cleric in most situations you just need to be able to do a lot of damage. Normal mobs are not going to be standing up to your team long enough for the aggro to matter (and a support cleric can also play games with normal mobs by giving airborn support). You can be almost any kind of blademaster and do well in this pairing. Yes, you should plan on heavy armor since you will be able to arrange that physical mobs focus on you while magic attacks focus on the cleric (who should have high defense against them). You should also consider rarely (if ever) putting points in VIT - at least if you are building your character on the assumption of always playing with this cleric. You will have enough HP just from levels (and maybe shards in gear slots later) and you can maximize damage by putting those points into STR or DEX.
Your team will need to get a real tank (and a veno and sometimes a second healer and more damage dealers too) for some special quests, but that isn't really going to change depending on how you build your blademaster - which is why we were all telling you to roll a barb when you said you wanted to be a tank.0 -
Bobncut, many thanks for your great comment. I'm sorry for the confusion in my past posts. The first priority of my BM is to be a good patner with a cleric. The second priority is to be as good as possible role for future instances. It would be perfect if I can pair with a cleric and duo most of the future instances, especially the high end FB. Is a BM+cleric duo very effective as a FB duo? Thanks.0

Who has the highest end game skill damage Lyn? Note I'm not trying to pick a fight.Mark 12:29-37

The only duo I've seen that looked like they could handle bosses reasonably close to their own level was a pair of venos who were good at healing one pet together. I'd imagine that a cleric/barb pair could get through instances reasonably close to the right level - probably just taking a very long time with each one.
For a blademaster/cleric team, I think you could make it work if you were willing to wait a good number of levels past each instance's official level and had worked out how to deal with some bad situations. I somehow ended up tanking FB19 for a group of 4 clerics when I was somewhere in my upper 20s. I did not lose aggro, but I think that was because they were not doing a consistent job healing. I did burn through a good supply of pharmacist items if I recall. From what I've seen, healers build up a lot of aggro if they are doing a solid /consistent heal. You might try to work out some timing in your team where you break this up with a heal of your own to keep the heal aggro managed, but I cannot promise this would work.

clerics take agro of mobs who doesnt get attacked even if heal only once.0

End game supposedly swords do most dmg to single player target, But as i've said in older posts I want to see the dmg first hand 1 on 1 before I know for myself.
Even in the mid - high 70s sword still fails, Interesting to see how swords work at 100+.b:cute

I'd love to see how much damage Flash does.RayRayQ - Heavens Tear wrote: »This is really what I'm interested in knowing. Thanks a lot for your reply. How is the DPS of a barbarian? How is its solo ability?
Barbs don't really have DPS as much as they do have aggro holding skills.Back.0 -

you guys can do it at 19, it would take a long time though. Best to find a group or ask high lvls to run you through it in <10 mins.Back.0 -

Assuming the players know what the **** their doing. If you gear is like...arcane armor BM and heavy cleric then you will fail...
Heavy BM and arcane cleric, just make sure the BM takes and holds aggro or the cleric will heal you and they will go for the cleric. The only bad thing is, is that the mobs aggro and are in groups. that's why i suggest a third party member.Back.0 -

yes, a WB will help immensely. you'll have a tanker, a healer, and a DPS class. The classic crew.
For the BM, if you wan't to go high on the DPS, i suggest axes or swords.Back.0 -

RayRayQ - Heavens Tear wrote: »This now backs to my original question about building my BM. Is it true that Axe is geared for PVP since it has a lot of stuns and AOE? And blade is better for PVE? What's the preference for the end game?
Axe and blade are both good for PvP and PvE.
A blade BM vs. an axe BM would most likley have the blade BM win due to the higher accuracy, but the axe BM might win do to the shear str. they have.
Axe BMs are more wanted in TW seeing as they have AoEs and stun alot.
As for PvE, axes lvl the fastest do to AoE (this is 60+), it is fact. most people go two specs, usually axes + something else, sometimes spears due to the low dex req.Back.0 -

personal perference.
Dual is slower but stronger, single is faster yet weaker.
I see more high lvl single blade users.Back.0 -

The one who spends the most money on the game.
At end game, a good BM will use a combination of weapons during battle, to get the best out of them. It's not matter of weapon anymore, it's matter of who gets the best equipment.
TW => Axes ; Casters => Spear ; Tank meele => Axes/Spear ; Meele => Spear/Sword
EDIT:
Technically, Axes will always deal the most natural damage out of all weapons. But a PvP Spear BM is able to deal more damage than an Axe BM of the same level, so could a Sword BM (more difficult), but as I said, it will be matter of equipment, more likely, the refining, since most serious players will go for HH90 Double damage weapon.0 -
1v1 the Spear will do more damage, but in a crowd the Axe is much more effective. However Spears dispatch enemies in the air much easier and are able to have a range of 48m when using double leap and Farstrike. Also ALL BM have AoE stun so that's not a factor. The reason Axe is prefered for TW is their AoE skills which can be used with the AoE stun to kill crowds, the single target stun is quite useless as it wastes valuable Chi for minimal effect compared to AoE killing. Dual building with Axe and Spear allows BM to kill targets in the Air or simply stranded somewhere else when there are no sufficiently large crowds to target.0

Thank you all for these great information. Since I still can't hold the aggo well when questing with a cleric, I'm more concerned about my DPS. Based on what I read here, for single target DPS, spear > axe and blade > axe. But which one has more DPS between spear and blade?0
