    That's a LIE given by Apple sheep. Vista is more stable than XP, and the audio stack is far better than XP's quality AND functionality wise.
    Vista was **** when first released due to limited and poor driver support. SP1 and manufacturers updating drivers has made Vista just fine aside from the evils of Microsoft draconic liscensing and bloat (and trying to keep us from raising the max tcp limit.... lame).

    Obviously vista is unusable at default, though:

    That completely changes Vista's look. But that works if it works for you. If you purchased a PC W/O an OS than GL adjusting it. If you purchased Vista and a PC from a store, then you'll be frustrated adjusting it. If you purchased online and with Vista OS, especially made for gaming and have them test for you to work 100%. You don't have to do anything literally. Depends on which company though.

    well.. the thing that is going to determine the smoothness of your games is not the hard drive (well, rpm will help) but your graphics card and processor speed *^^*
