My first impressions after not playing in 11 years..

Hey,

My name is Stix. I run the MMOByte YouTube channel. I played PWI on the Sanctuary server back in 2008 when Nefarious was attempting to dominate the map and left in 2010 due to running out of money after investing thousands of dollars into it. I thought, since PWI was one of my very first MMOs, I’d go ahead and take a look at the game after over a decade and much to my surprise.. not a lot has changed. There are some new features in the game but it felt very similar to when I’d left.

I did a video detailing my experience as a.. new old player, returning after so long and was curious if many of you (both new and old) could relate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvvwA6iFkas

Alternatively, a tl;dw: https://www.mmobyte.tv/is-perfect-world-worth-playing-in-2021/

I’d love to hear your guys’ opinions as players that still actively play the game. I’ve always had a soft spot for PWI and likely always will.

My first impression about this thread: forum moderators didn't move this to off-topic discussion. Gratz!

Why I wrote my first impression? Well, according to Terms of Service we are NOT allowed to place a hyperlink like that however if the text would have changed to "Alternatively, a tl; dw: My WordPress page" it is - again written in PWE's rules - allowed. After visiting the site I directly noticed an advertisement, making it a no-go according to TOS but hey, you developed the site so need the money lol. It's almost like our verified seller. Off topic: You should have in-game mail from the verified seller by now.

I didn't watch the YouTube video since there are already too many movies about PWI published on it. So there is no reason to watch your video. That's unless I like to see advertisements or see someone talking about a game that didn't change much in the years you left. Investing thousands of Dollars in a game where nothing will be owned by the player (again: see TOS) is never a good idea. Let's face it: when you left in 2010 archers didn't had a voice. They still don't in 2021 however there is many new content added. Dancing is just waving with arm(s) or leg(s) like we danced back in the year 1230 lol. The best thing: survivability is still the same: keep your money floating to PWI and your character will have a better chance to survive. Amor changed over the years. New armor will be here in a future update. It's always a good thing to have the best armor since the TW map don't reset much, right? Just read the thread published earlier today about this. We didn't had much bots back in 2010 but nowadays different bots are on every server and even in every game published by PWE. Maybe that's the reason why we've got a text this week when starting Arc. I don't think many people have read it but there are some cool things in it that I'm sure you didn't publish on your site or in your video like:
When you run our Game software, this may involve software functions designed to detect cheating or unauthorized and malicious programs. In this context, we may access, collect, monitor and/or remotely store screenshots of game play, information relating to hardware capacity, modifications related to our Game software, signatures, profiles or names of known unauthorized or malicious third party programs, files or processes that enable or facilitate cheating, unfair advantage or hacking of the Games or Service. If unauthorized or malicious programs are detected, the Game software may also communicate to us the users account and User ID and information about the unauthorized or malicious program or its use.
Maybe it's because Arc will be replaced by a new application.... who knows.... But the bots are all save: they are verified, even by Customer Support.

I don't want to be negative about PWI, still love to start the game every day just to spend some time but PWI or any other game shouldn't be like a job. It's just not important enough. Same goes for the players. Have you checked facebook lately? Perfect World Entertainment is very active on it..... NOT! Well, looking forward for the next charge/spend rewards and the great loot-packs. Our money need to go in the right direction. Haha..

    Have a nice day.

Returning user here. After all this time they STILL haven't fixed our huge blocky hands that are somehow always glued in a gripping position. No weapon? Gripping position. Jumping, arms up? Still somewhat balled in a gripping position. Those 4 fingers were glued together no matter what you did.

tbh i have watch ur video even before u post it here...this my thought...ur video missing a lot of point of view how this game grew up since u left 11 years ago...u might missed there is rb2...which in ur timeline of playing its only capped at non rb...2nd there morai, a lot of class depleted since u left...a lot of update u missed like glyph...how the gameplay goes right now if compared to timeline when u play it...so without harrasment i should say ur video still far from relevant how u review this game again after 11 years u left...

bytestix, you haven't even been through half the game; try to get to 105rb2, get good gear, then go do Primal and go to the newer continents. This is OberonsChild from Youtube btw, I had commented on your video way back when you first posted it. The game is still as p2w as when you left (actually, more-so now; since you can't grind for money anymore unless you're super high level, have good gear, and can go to the new continents and do the new instances. As a new player, they give you good enough gear to get to like level 70 I believe, but it isn't good enough to get to end-game, and there's no way of making money as a new player unless you create 100 accounts to do the jolly-old-jones dailies, if he's still there, and maybe if you're lucky enough to find a party for the lower level bounty hunter dailies.) The review you gave of the game isn't accurate at all. It's just an illusion, to make new players think the game is good. But once they get to that point where they need to make money for better gear, that's when new players get stuck and start dropping off like flies, especially when they figure out they have to spend real money to get in-game money, especially early on in the game. I know this thread might get necroed for me commenting after it's been 30 days since the last comment, but hopefully you'll see this anyway.

    Lvl101 RB2 Wizard: RosesFlame
Lvl101 RB2 Venomancer: Kawari (originally named SailorRocket, very first toon in PWI)

Jolly Old Jones still exists however the silver is bound to the character. This means people cannot abuse Jolly to make money by using multiple accounts. This happened in the past. With the free lvl10 armor and weapon F2P players are able to survive in the new continent however they should never auto-culti to kill vitae mobs. And yes, they can kill vitae mobs but this takes a lot of "wasted" time. New players don't have to spend any money and if they start thinking like in the real world they can also make money to buy (not important) stuff from other players. New players can start making a minimum amount of gold coins by selling homestead items but most "old" players nowadays will sell the same item for 0 coins. This means new players will never have a chance to buy boutique items from other players UNLESS they are in a faction that's willing to give away gold coins to active members. Sticking at F2P people could make a lot of silver coins by playing XNW. Enough for repearing armor, weapon and homestead and enough to buy stuff from npc's.
