How the "Homestead Expedition Chart Quest" works:
You can get every day a free "Mysterious Echo" from one of the new merchants (you could even buy more for 100k each).
Use it and and it will tell you the location of one NPC in "Normal Chat"/"Common Chat".
With this info you can go to the tool of Asterelle or the tool of kiterunner (you can download both tools and use them offline) and get all other NPC locations.
The non-travelling NPCs are sometimes in a village and sometimes just very close to it.
Some other NPCs travel around (see table below). Just check out your auto-tracker (quest box).
Most of the time they follow the paths and roads between the auto-tracking points on map.

are these only the npcs when they are roaming?
Since today we found Shon Saiven in Village of the Brutes instead of the listed Snowy, but then again he wasn't a roaming npc today.0 -
Next Step is to put coordinates on the ones that doesn't wander because sometimes they don't appear on the radar right away when you get to the town listed.
Edit: Also, the NPCs that wander sure only can be in one of 3 spots BUT, the others have more than 3.
Today for example Yon Tonsyn is in "South Barrier Village" and Sonn Katson is in "Avalanche Village"
My guess is that they can be in one of all cities listed here.Post edited by kittythecat2013 on0 -
I'm going to post a bit of an information dump. I hope that it will help allow someone to decipher the pattern quicker than myself.
From what I have seen, there are 10 'walking' NPCs: Jan Holfen, Ol Ninze, Loo Kohan, Jee Enir, Lee Sefan, Wan Lanch, Wong Zehow, Dil Honse, Xi Chenko, and Lor Wenil.
All others, from what I can tell, are located within one of the various cities.
If one of the new "Merchant"s is present, a daily-quest NPC will not be. Conversely, if a daily-quest NPC is in that city, the new Merchant will not be. It seems like the two new NPCs generally occupy the same location within a town. (I am not 100% sure on this statement, please do not quote me. Feel free to test the theory.)
This information was gathered from the Dawnglory server. NPC locations were 95% obtained from using the Daily Hint. Again, sorry for the info dump, but I hope it helps someone figure out the pattern.

Looking at the data I collected it seems more like if you know 1 location of a standing npc, you know all standing npcs, and knowing 1 walking npc will know all walking npcs.
or something like that...
If that holds true, and pulling data from my spreadsheet from the other day, the walking NPCs on TT server should be in locations:

Ahh you beat me to it Astrelle, yesterday I also made a tool for finding them. Slightly different from yours in that you tell it which NPC you know and which one one you want to find, then it tells you the answer.asterelle said:

Someone claiming that Blazing Wind Valley for the walking NPCs should be Forest of Song. I'm not able to confirm this though, can anyone else? I saw 2 translations that said Blazing Wind Valley and they seemed independent.0

Bump... more people need to see this so they don't keep asking on WC. Asterelle's tool is easy to use, you just input the NPC you find out from the Echo quest and then you'll be given the rest.0

One problem with tool:
I tried to select Leu Ninsi - Swiftwind Tribe, but there is no Swiftwind option... there are two Whetstone Keeps.
Also when I input a different NPC, then Leu Ninsi is listed at Whetstone Keep when she is not really there.0 -

I added the ability to share npc locations with others on your server but am currently having a battle with a malicious adversary using scripts and proxies to flood the data with bogus info. I can win for sure though if I add a captcha to the submission process.
Also apparently the walking NPCs can be deduced from the mysterious echo so I'll combine the lists again. 0 -

When it says Blazing Wind Valley the NPCs are walking in Forest of Songs and Land of Whispers. I guess the translation should be Island of Broken Dreams.0 -
The captcha is in place. It actually makes it look more professional which is kinda cool. Hopefully now the shared sightings feature will be less abused. 0
