Levelled Up, No Stat Points

I gained 8 levels from using items I got from quests, but I only got 15 stat points to distribute. Shouldn't I have gotten 5 points for every level I gained, for a total of 40 points?

    You start off with 5 points in each stat (20 total points) and have to level up 32 times from level 1 to reach level 33, gaining 5 points each level.

    Your total stat points at this point should be 20 + 32*5 = 180.

    Try taking off all your gear and then add up your stat points and you should see that all points are accounted for.    ​​
