Faction Icon Problem

Hi,

I am trying to make a faction icon under the requirements that pwi state.

I'm finding it hard to have a 24 bit image whilst maintaining an alpha layer.

Somebody told me to submit a ticket with a 32 bit image with 8 bits per channel but they informed me it doesn't work and I need a 24 bit bmp file.

Does anybody know how to save a 24 bit bmp file with the alpha layer?
(I'm using GIMP)

Support is off their rocker if they told you that 32-bit is incorrect. There is no such thing as a 24-bit bitmap with an alpha layer (there's technically a method whereby the bottom-left pixel is counted as the "transparent color", but that isn't what we're looking for here). PWE has been accepting 32-bit ARBG bitmap files for years, in every single transparent faction icon you see. I've submitted multiple of those myself in the past. The old faction icon submission guide (now nonexistent) specifically stated to use 32-bit ARBG for transparent icons.


If they're telling you 32-bit ARBG is not valid, they're either just lying out of laziness or, more likely, too incompetent to realize their error.

I had the similar problem. Upon sending a ticket, I got an explanation discussion with GM Zakarie, he told it they have an issue at the moment with uploading 32-bit and hence transparent logos into the game like they used to. He claims that they are looking into a fix and will hopefully allow it again in the near future.

Now whether or not it is true is out of my hands. I even sent a temporary 24-bit image to see if they would upload that and it has been almost 3 weeks already. It just seems the company has suffered in the last year or two.
