Seems more localized somewhere in the US. Most I know in Europe aren't getting random DCs. The tracert I ran looks like somewhere between my PC and the PWI servers.Malice Leader - Raging Tides

regional hubs are the best excuse PWI ever invented.
no need to repeair/fix/upgrade their low-performance servers and just blame someone else if customers complain
until the end of last year, "regional hubs" were never an issue and tbh, PWI is the only game/application that ever seemed to struggle with it.

I don't think they even read threads in 2015. I know we've run into this a few times recently with the regional hub in LA, and had another one on the Wast coast region as well just a couple days ago.
I find most people are just completely stupid when it comes to understanding how the internet really works, and they'ed rather blame PWE than actually try to solve their issue, or even educate themselves.

Isn't this directly PWE's fault?
Try to defend them as much as you can saying packets are getting dropped midway, but at the end the fault lies with PWE for having selected such a crappy ISP/low bandwidth connection to save money.
Why doesn't a game like BowChicaBowWoW have any such net issues? Please don't tell me its coz they got lots of money. On a per person basis, PWE makes hell lot more than that subscription-based game.
Given PWE's in-game population/ logins at any given time of the day, its way lesser than the servers of the that other game. While they do charge outrageously for their in-game services, providing unhindered network service to their games is the least they can do for this customers. Can't/Don't expect PWE to do much for its playerbase, but atleast this? Even private pwi servers provide better service than the "official" ones.0 -

and now enlighten me, mister internet, what does a german user that connets to a european server have to do with the regional LA hub? you might call me stupid, which i am definitely not, but i call you an arrogant ***** that posts nonsense 90% of the time.
and im around since lost city, so yep..i read threads pre-2015.
i talked to a couple of people, including network administrators, describing the symptons of the lag, without telling them whats it all about and they all said its an internal server issue.
tell me, sylen, why do you spend your whole life coming here and telling us that we are wrong? are you an PWE employee or just bored? or...just completely stupid?
edit: DEMHEALSMAN you can go suck on the same one as Sylen, you two would make a nice couple.
as i said earlier, the only application/program/game that ever had exactly THIS issue was PWI and it started at the end of last year. all you guys have to offer are dumb phrases like "learn how the internet works", so you might as well just stay out of such threads and let users talk that actually have something to contribute that could solve the issue.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

yea so how is this supposed to be client-side o non PWEU-side related?
this is an issue that has to be addressed to PWEU and resolved from PWEU staff.
if PWEU ISP provider or w.e. is having problems, none of us can do anything about it if not PWEU itself -> therefore this is a PWEU issue
generally ISPs do not solve or aknowledge problems if they aren't getting reported from their customers, i believe PWEU is so lazy that isn't even making its provider aware of the ****ty service they are providing.

"It's not the server, it's you." has become a major running gag in our faction. It's never PWE. They don't make any errors. And if you suggest it could be something you can't fix on your end or that other games don't have those lag issues you are an uneducated moron. As long as I can't fix it, I for myself don't care where exactly the error is. I know I don't have the God given right to play a lag free game, so I just log off when the lag starts. But people trying to suggest there is nothing PWE can do when other games don't have issues like that is just bs. I highly doubt *insert random big game company here* would just stand there and say "sorry, nothing we can do, it's regional hubs, deal with it, kkthxbye".
Edit: I exclude SylenThunder of course, and I admit there surely are some errors you can fix on your end. But not all of them for sure."Of course you should fight fire with fire. You should fight everything with fire."

you need to learn the difference between crying and complaining
crying is when the problem isn't real nor solvable and i agree with you that is useless
complaining is when the problem is real, is experienced by many users and it IS solvable.

Well it IS solvable, but no one whining about it seems to want to put effort into attempting to do so. Hence the reference to crying. It's like a bunch of little babies that don't know anything.b:chuckle[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I'm no tech, but if the problem was in fact PWE's fault or a fault with the servers, would these problems not be a lot more wide spread than they actually are?
I have no more lag in PWI than I do in any other game (or anything else I do online), which is virtually non-existent. I play this game on a laptop with settings maxed over a home wifi and sometimes over my mobile data network via USB tethering to my phone. Neither of these connections lag for me. I dual-client on both of them and both clients are usually around 90~150ms. It runs smooth and lag free consistently, all the time.
The people I see crying in WC and on forums are usually the same people repeatedly being incredibly vocal about it, making the problem seem a lot bigger than it actually is and leading to the claim that the majority of people suffer lag. It only seems that way because people who don't lag, don't go on in WC and on forums about how lag-free they are.0 -

From observing these threads on the forums, I came to the conclusion that option 2 is superior to option 1.
Option 1 requires to do things most don't really understand just to have some non-official give the reply "it's somewhere in the middle". Spending time on operations that do not interest the person lead to frustration, especially if no satisfying result comes out.
Which leads to option 2. Because no matter what that "middle" part is, PWE has at least equal (your famous thunderstorm in LA) and often superior (ISP) influence on it. As a company in that sector, they should know their way to improve logistic problems at least in the zone their servers were made for. On top of that, raging provides a form of relieve.
Therefore it makes more sense to complain at PWE then going to the tech subforum and run tracerts and idk what **** I have absolutely no interest in. For techguys like you it might be satisfying to identify the origin, but if there is no solution that follows, you just wasted your time imo.0 -

Most of the time, when given the information, I am able to narrow down the cause.
Most of the time, the cause is the security software on the end-user's PC.
The information isn't that difficult to understand, and I simplified a lot of it in my sticky thread. Even provided detailed instructions, and in some cases, video walkthroughs.
Comprehension merely requires effort, and that is where the primary failure is.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Actually my own conclusion on these "Server errors" is that it is some coding bug in the client software that only triggers sometimes. And is something that was broken in the Eclipse expansion.
Here are my reasons for that conclusion...
I have played since 2008 and never had one of these errors until after Eclipse was launched.
I have not changed my security software or ISP or any other major OS component on the machine.
If I log 10 times during an evening about half of those logins will result in the dreaded "server error". I can have two accounts login at exact same time and one will get "server error" and the other will not (both running from same PC over same network link).
When the error happens I can still chat (so packets are being sent from my PC and being received by the server and vice-versa).
If I wait...sometimes just a few minutes, sometimes up to 15mins suddenly the toon will "wake up" and everything will be normal.
If I walk around during the "dead time" when the toon "wakes up" he is suddenly transported back to the spot he was in on login. So the movement packets are not being sent or not being received. But the chat packets are.
I have not found a pattern to when this occurs (happen on my sin/bm/cleric/seeker/barb and duskblade) so defo not related to the toon. Also no pattern as to when the toon suddenly "wakes up"...always seems to happen when i click on another player, shop or NPC, but simply doing that once does not fix it...you have to wait and click around and eventually...*bing* things are working again.
I have been doing enterprise software development for the last 23 years, involving a lot of software that has multiple tiers (network connections etc). This just does not feel like a connection issue...it feels like a timing/threading/memory corruption issue in the client.
Anyway I hope this info helps the GMs/devs and community figure out what is going on and to fix it...it is really annoying b:angry0 -

The servers are terrible and it needs to stop being blamed on regional hubs.
I can play other NA based MMO's (from Aus) and they play at 220-260 ping but PWI is 700-850. It is NOT anything on my end so don't even try to say it is.0
