How does this game fare nowadays? I haven't played since maybe 2009. I see there are new classes and races. How is the gameplay and community doing? Is the game still really active? Easy to find groups for dungeons? Tell me!

Might be easier to log in and check. Kind of depends on what server you're playing on.

Sanctuary is still pretty active, but it's one of the most populated servers. (If not THE most populated server, since it's been around the longest.)

Might also want to do some perusing through the forums. Seems like someone asks the same question once every couple of weeks. Search "returning" or "coming back" and you'll likely find most of the threads with the same inquiries.

Was reading around and found that new player zones are all but dead. That doesn't bode well. Also read that players are leaving in droves. Also doesn't bode well. Might skip this one then. It seems it's going down the drain. Shame because it was fun back in the day.

if you come back be prepared for a big change economy is broke 4 mill pro gold on heavenstear mat price,s are crazy and heavenstear is almost only high lvl who dont care much about lower lvl most new players play for like 3 weeks and run away as soon as they find out what all things cost so except for high lvl and there alts heavenstear as dead as a dodo when it come,s to nwe players b:laugh

yeah you might wanna just try it out for a week and get the feel of it yourself.
Since 2009 i been hearing the same trollish pple saying the game is dying beware the apocalypse etc etc lol but yeah. Its not as busy as it was before in the hay days and i dont know how it is on other servers but sanctuary is still pretty lively. Not much problems finding groups for dailies on this server even now. The prices are of course kinda jacked up but its mostly cause the coins are easier to gain right now due to the auto-botting but they limited that so its slowwwwwwllyy snailing back (at least the AH part, ima merchant so i gotta watch) We'll have 2 more new classes coming up soon. Plus lately pwi has been handing weekly codes for free items so that kinda saves coins (charms, event gold, etc) Careful tho, reading and experiencing are 2 diff things. THe forums are made for QQs.

I've experienced that before lol (forums being for QQers). What are the two new classes coming in?

#No FC to level up multiple alts to 100 the older players who have them will have an insane advantage over you.(most people are too ignorant to realize this)

b:laugh Yes you are right sorry I started PWI in december 2011.
I did not knew when R9 came to the game or nirvana.

But his character even if he was one of the best geared now is so obsolete he needs more than a full year to catch on.

I quit the game before nation wars in november 2012 I think then came back in march 2014.

I still have not been able to catch up to most players I am so behind even If I played really hard.

when I came back I was wearing nirvana gear and felt so behind.
Someone who still wearing r8 or TT99 will feel even more behind, yet now getting nirvana crystals easier.

I would say it's a lot different but also pretty much the same. Except for pk...pk sucks unless you're fighting against people your level or have op gear..but your gear would be outdated by now. I quit for two years in 2012. My only real complaint has been about the quality of service that is given. Like misinformation about events and game changes. It's not as professional as before.

It's easy to find groups for bh. No one really farms the same stuff as before. The community is fine although it's a lot of the same people just shuffling around.

Are the beginner areas pretty populated? I'd like to be able to run around with someone my level at least.

And can anyone answer my previous question? I'm looking into Psychic for a character.

The beginner cities sure have people, but there aren't too many players doing every quest as far as I can tell.
Psychic is end-game a really good choice and for mage class certainly a good pick. It's pretty much a Wizard but with different specialities (shields that repeal enemies such as Soul of Silence are great in pvp) but it does rely on Refinements a lot. A good r9r3+12 psy is nearly invincible sometimes.

Don't let the forumcommunity fool you: 90% are trolls who cry the game is dieing as if it's a daily quest. Plenty of activity on the servers despite their cries.

The beginner areas are pretty vacant. That being said in a few hours you can be ~level 20-40 and from what I've been seeing in Lost City isn't that bad if you can join an all level faction. Starting areas and obtaining early xp is too easy now for those areas to remain populated for very long.

IIRC @levels 5, 10,15 you can get lucid chests with a high chance for 5x fantasy fruit (5k xp each) which quickly level you past 20. There's also an NPC (Perfect Questmaster) that gives awards when you've finished a certain amount of quests (20, 30, 50, 100, 150, or 200) and some of the rewards are xp items as well. He can be found in all the starting cities as well as in South Arch.

Ultimately, I think lower level population is becoming more active recently with the removal of FC hypering

TBH it's been too long since last I did the mid levels myself and a lot has changed. I'm told it's relatively easy for most until ~60-70 as needing new gear will start to slow you down. The market for these levels has been dead for a long time but it should start to grow back as low levelled players start to level: Another byproduct of disabling FC hypering.

From levels 1-60, if you can get a hold of a Dreamchaser Pack it will be more than enough gear to solo just about anything up to ~level 50-60 depending on your class. They sometimes are given out in weekly codes so you'll want to keep an eye out for that.

Depending on which server you're in you'll be contributing to the revitalization of the lower levels

The dreamchaser packs are if i remember correctly, mostly from free codes they give once in a while. (check general section stickies for weekly codes)
Altho right now, if you start off you get some (alot actually compared to 2009) freebies every 5 levels (mounts, charms, map, weapon, etc)

Excellent! Thanks! I'll check it out. I can't remember if this account has played Perfect World or not so I want to be sure I'll get those freebies. I'll make a new account if I have played.

but its not that big of a deal. The main thing pple want from that pack is the 7day +exp% necklace and its usually only used for running phoenix valley spam runs (like lv100 leveling zhens)
Better to just focus on the stickie codes in the generals (or their facebook) like the weekly freebies and the blessings. Like right now they have hyper stones which pretty much act like the exp neck.

As a new player he will also want the gear. It's far more powerful than anything else available at those levels.

If you want to play with people and want a caster class go for a cleric.
People basically beg for clerics to join their squads in the game.

I would never recommend it unless you heavy cash shopper and plan to invest over 3,000$+ usd in the game or that you are well economically in the game after a year of playing.

To be an effective physics you need soulforce you get the most soul force from +12 gear.
It cost more than 1 billion to +12 a piece.

I'd rather play a Venomancer or Mystic or Wizard. Anytbing but a Cleric. I hate healing classes. Even though I know Mystic is a healer lol

Does Mystic have good DPS though? I won't invest money in the game but from what I hear the Psychic isn't as cash reliant as you make it out to be.

Any other opinions?

Also, does anyone have an active guild I could join that would be able to help me out?

And are there dungeons and raids at all?

Mystic, and Cleric once the cleric has primal cyclone, have the highest DPS of the casters. At endgame psychics need really high soulforce to be effective.

its had its ups and downs but eventually it sucks now they cant figure out what works and what doesn't they nerf anything beneficial 3 main guys defend nerf don't know if they work for pwi or what,

its realy strange to its like they want to fail and right this off as a tax right off file bankruptcy thing they can make so much money if they gave up there starvation players way my way or the high way attitude and why is there no real pwi advertisement ***** if pwi was worth saving id put up posters at target Starbucks albertsons and give out shirts get the word out if they would provide it gas money and real life swag,

these guys are dinosaurs they dont know how things work in real life they think they can put a leash and strangle you for pennies on the dollar all that does is pisst us off.
