Kill registering before the mob is dead?

I may just be wrong on this but it seems to me that since the last update mob kills are being registered before they are fully dead. My damage in the chatbox seems to register 2-3 hits on the mob after I get exp and spirit from the kill, and today doing Wrathslayers Missive I got the exp and spirit and then still registered like 5 hits on Atuin.

I might just be seeing this wrong or misunderstanding something but is anyone else noticing anything like this?

No, I've noticed this occurance myself since the expansion, but only on my Sin with a regular rate (who's got some pretty good aps rates) > I haven't seen it on my 'barb, archer, cleric, Wiz, veno or Psy at all"' but I have noticed it on my 'seeker' when he vorts his mobs, So I'm just assuming its a (rate of attack/APS issue) because thats when it seems to show up for me, when 2-4 hits will land & register damage on an already deceased mob...b:thanks

it is a pretty weird occurance though...

So I was the only one who experienced this before any expansion, years ago?
But no, the mob is dead when the kill gets registered.

Something to do with calculating damage, registering it and when it actually lands and you see the output of it in text.

Best examples would be a sin/bm/barb on APS and archer skills (quickshot -> normal attack if demon procs, or any long range skill followed by a regular attack)

what i have noticed is, that the HP-Bar of the Mobs has still HP remaining when it dies.
This is new since the big update.

I would say that they changed some mechanic in the background without telling us.
But i dont see any advantage nor disadvantage out of this.

Yup. It's always been that way. Same as charm ticks and heals etc. Sometimes your charm won't tick while getting heals even though the WB just did more than 50% damage to your hp. Game updates every second, so sometimes it registers one thing before the other.

Since the the primal map update, my kill registers are lagged, while I myself am not lagged. I kill the mob and 2-3 seconds later, it registers on my quest log.

I have noticed it takes about 1 second for the HP bar above targets to be deducted.

It's something that's always happened in the game. Mostly it's just latency in the data between your PC and the server. Though, if your PC is especially slow, it will be more noticeable.

My case seems to be different. It only happened after the expansion of primal for me. Never happened to me before that in all the years I've played. Its not like I am not getting credit for the kill. Cause even after the BH boss is dead, it takes a couple seconds to register. Again, since ive been playing (before the tideborn), this has never happened to me.
Only lag ive gotten in game is when the server itself was having issues (server wide DCs and attacks), or during a massive pvp/tw where all the happenings become to much for me and I have to turn down settings.

Probably the most noticeable is having a mob hit you for damage after it has died. I have even seen people die to a mob after the mob has died. It's that 1 second update difference that does it.

That's a pain, but I think it's the same thing as when someone finishes channeling, is killed, and the skill hits.

Yeah... this really isn't anything new. Everyone's already explained why so no need for me to get into details.

IIRC the client display features update faster than the server.

Nothing unusual. if you're an archer, you can actually deliver 2 skills on a decor (those 100 hp mobs inside reflection). This happens because of a delay on every attack, mobs will only become untargeteable after that delay, even when dead. That happens since ever.
