I was pretty much thinking 3v3 event with teammates random with separate gear tiers. The obvious people banned from participating, ofc. Everything goes except stealth banned outside of Share the Stealth.

Was gonna wait for Kazuma to post, but he is being....lazy.
There are the obvious questions we have to answer here, a couple being:

What will be the different tiers?
What's going to be the prize for this, if any?
Where do we organize something like this?
If we're banning people from the tournament, who and why?

We do need to lay down some basic ground rules. It'll give us a better idea of what we're working with, and how things are going to go. I know we've organized things like this in the past, but as far as I'm aware they were kind of messes, in that either people didn't follow with the specified rules, or simply didn't show up.

I do like the idea of having a group of "specialists" (as I think ChillysArrow suggested in WC) on the sidelines who, after each match, gives each of the combatants some (legitimate, helpful, and non-sarcastic) advice. One of each class, that we all know knows wtf they're doing, would probably be best, though they're probably going to participate in the tournament themselves.
I personally feel that might be one of the ways we can all better ourselves in PvP and actually (heaven forbid) learn to play classes intelligently instead of simply with gear differences.

Prob r9rr +10 and up with at least mostly full A cards (spirit ones maxed), r9rr +5-+7 + g16 Nirv +7-+10, and then maybe g16 +3-+5. Anything lower will probably not generate enough interest.

Anyone with a 3 card or higher S card set regardless of it's legitimacy. As for why, it's because at those spirit levels, it just...would not be fun for anyone else, sorry.

Also, beyond stealth, we should also probably not allow buff pots and should be whatever your team can buff with. Like, if your squad ends up being like seeker/BM/wizzie, you can have seeker+BM+wizzie buffs only.

What an interesting and intelligent point of insight.
I often say the same thing whenever I hear Mayhem raging in WC about how (insert name of guild Mayhem is TWing here) is doing something bad, and how they should feel bad.
I don't disagree that people/factions should be more morally solid, and I GREATLY dislike most of BankaiGod personally, but crying about it in WC just makes you look whiny. When you have something constructive (or intelligent) pertaining to this subject to say, please feel free to post here again.

Moving on, I feel the same way about buffs...though we will have to monitor that carefully, especially with pot/pill buffs, etc. I don't trust people; people will cheat if given the chance.

Personally I feel like we should allow smaller tiers. I mean, there are still ample amounts of wee little charries who still want to PvP, that really can't given the structure of the game and what we as a whole have done over the past few years. (IE: PvP be fuqin' dead.)
It is a little more work, but they should be given a chance--generate a little more interest in the game and what little of the community is actually left, you know? It gives us a chance to look at lesser experienced players as well and help them adjust where it's needed on that front as well. (Gasp, learning your class?! Blasphemy!)

As for cards, I am in agreement with you there. I hadn't considered that immediately and I'm glad you brought it up. There's still a good chunk of people thanks to this FC business that haven't fully RB'd, which really narrows down that field of being able to compete properly in cards and such.
But if that's the case, what about Spirit Coins? They do give players greater Spirit effects depending on how many you have, if I understand it correctly.
