I've noticed that some R9 gears look different on the icon when you check Player Info.

Does this make the armour look different if you ran with the armour showing and what decides which arour pic do you get?

Hmm the sin I checked was a male sin but his gear looked slightly different. I've noticed it with R9 barb gear also.

If you char is male/female the items will look different. Not the player wearing the gears. So on a female toon you look someone gear, it's different than when looking while playing a male toon.

Your character's gender determines the set of armor icons you see.... and it also applies to things that share icons with armors (IE: various TT mats).

    There's no external difference, though.

We are both male toons. How do you explain it for Barbs also? I was only curious how other toons can get different looking gear. Does it apply to showing it off too by checking normal and not fash?

Well, what about posting screenshots so we can have a look, instead of making wild guesses.

    Oh.

... LA, AA, and HA versions of R9 all have different icons because... they're different armor types. So a Barb's R9 and a Sin's R9 will look different and will also both be different from a Cleric's R9.

This post shows the two different boots for barbs. But if a Barb is characterised as a male toon they can still have either look for them. The same is what I meant for the sins too.

No what I mean is we are both RRR9 sins. His gear has the different icon/look which shows on the database. Just wondering what factors which you have as i've always preffered the other look. We are both male sins too.

Yeah that's what my original post meant. The top icon is how male characters see it. The bottom one is how females see it.

The post I quoted though seemed like you were wonding why the barb armor icon looked different from a sin's icon. At least to me, so that was my mistake when I replied to it.

This part is interesting, though. Using http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/items/34827 as an example... a male character should always see the top icon (even when checking a female character) while the female will always see the bottom one (even when checking a male).

So if I get what you're saying right, for some reason you're seeing the female icon set on him even when you're checking his gear on a male character?

Huh... that's super weird. It's normally a global icon set each character uses with no way to deviate. Like, even quest items, TT mats, molds, and so on that use an icon for gear (IE: http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/items/9267 will only appear like the PWDB icon shows for a male. Females see the bottom icon of http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/items/14947 ).

Do you see any other female icons, by chance? Maybe somehow your characters getting the wrong icons for their gender displayed.

Well, lately I saw some text errors. Since you're in Archosaur server, the BloodDynasty faction name is changed to [][][][][] or something instead of their Chinese text? (correct me if I'm wrong with the text) And some R9 Molds in Warsong had the same [][][][] in the name... so could possibly be some sort of game error?

I've seen this before too actually. As stated I always assumed it was gender specific but seeing same gender toons with the different icons always made me wonder. Also I've noticed that it's not specific to r9/r9+, but have seen it with g16 too.
